NEX 5N Firmware V1.01 Release !!!

http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/good-news-f...sed-in-germany/

Firmware improvement list:
Enhancement of AF response: When subject distance changes enormously.
Improved stability in certain camera operations:
When setting [Lens Compensation: Distortion] “Auto” and [Picture Effect] “Miniature” at the same time.
When setting [Exposure Compensation], [Intelligent AF] operation improves.

How to check my NEX5N is a Europe unit or not?
Updated: found malaysia sony support also provided the update now http://www.sony.com.my/support/product/nex-5nd/download
In short, this update imrpoves the camera AF performance.

Fail to update wth error msg. asking me to eject the camera but there is no eject icon. Damn..Will try again after fullt charged my battery. I think probably my battery level too low? 68% only?
*
According to the update information, you need at least 3 bars of battery level or fully charged.

Just attended Alpha flash workshop and been know the draw backs of the cameras, Nex cameras could not trigger the wireless flash unit and the max shutter with flash is only 1/160.some more the cameras(Below Nex 7) could not use hotshoe's flash unit sad.gif

Hope Sony will fix this soon.

IMHO, the pictures don't demonstrate the effects of using an external flash sad.gif
Anyway, I have updated the FIRMWARE link on the thread's first page which should better serve all our NEX enthusiasts irregardless of the model.
*
yeah, the limitation for the Nex system hmm.gif

But then, someone has told me we(Nex user)can use optical trigger to trigger the external flash. nod.gif

i have spent more than 1.5hours to test trigger and flash at the shop.
YN560 apparently is not workable with the trigger.
at last i bought YN468 which is slightly more expensive but with multi flash mode which is what i want!
it did work with the trigger with our NEX flash.

what about the flash unit from sony?

Seagull SYK-5 + Nissin DI622 II, new from Studio Zaloon yesterday evening, thanks to this thread's shakehead.gif poison.  I know nothing about off camera flash, so this indeed opens a new can of unknowns for me haha.. laugh.gif excited.
Room was totally dark when this shot fired. This thing fires each time.. even when the NEX flash is set to -2, cover nex flash with my palm, even as i adjusted fill flash, slow sync, shutter speeds from 1/20 to 1/160. [attachmentid=2728291]

Hi, whats the price for these both? btw, you can test to snap the effect of the water splashing with something dropping off and you need a high speed shutter flash sycn e.g. 1/1250(when attached an external flash unit), but the limitation of nex is only went to 1/160 max.

Looks interesting for RM50, when it includes 5 bikini models photoshoot @ poolside.

Are you going?

For 16MM F2.8, you could either add a fisheye converter or an ultra wide converter.

I have heard from a NEX owner, which he said not to shoot video on NEX more than 15 mins, because it will damage the sensor. It's not mean to shoot video but still picture.
