Somehow i don't know how to appreciate the f2.8 vs f3.5 and 24mm vs 28mm efl...
I did try using canon 50mm 1.8 With the nex and it seems to work but can't set aperture so it's permanently stuck at f1.8 i guess QUOTE(geek8585 @ Jul 23 2012, 12:08 PM) thanks for your reply... as for your question, just a simple answer... wider aperture and it is prime lens build for landscape shooting.. Added on July 23, 2012, 9:40 pmThank you bro! Gonna try more and may even try raw with some pp and see if i can get anything nice to show QUOTE(mls_gamer @ Jul 23 2012, 08:34 PM) This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Jul 23 2012, 09:40 PM |

I think NO filter is the best. Just be careful with the lens, for the 1855 there is a lens hood given so use that as protection but if you really want to use, please get one which is real expensive and not some cheapo filter. See here...

Read the links i gave. Details there.
Do you know what cpl is for and when you use it? If not, better skip any filters for now, just use and enjoy the camera. Otherwise if you really really want to get a filter, you ned to get those in the range of hundreds, not some cheapo filters which might cause image quality issues. sorry no idea, i don't believe in using any filters for protection at this time. think it just waste the quality of the lens+camera unless get those really good expensive ones.
someone was asking about sensor cleaning, happened to stumble upon this: http://www.moosepeterson.com/blog/2012/06/...ith-copperhill/ good stuff! to check if sensor is dirty, set camera to f/22 and shoot a blue sky then look for any dust spots in the photo. |

Of course for photographic reasons then yes by all means use filters. But not for 'protection' using some cheapo sacrificial filter! It's just spoiling the image the camera and lens is capable of
QUOTE(nlik @ Jul 24 2012, 09:40 PM) Yes, CPL allows you to literally see through glare and reflective surfaces. That includes Glass. The Sky would be darker because CPL will also reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor, so may have to compensate with higher iso or slower shutter. Be careful though, cause there are FAKE Hoya's being sold. Well, once in a while filters will allow you some shots which would be impossible to produce in photoshop. |

the name says it all... Circular Polarizing Filter... it filters away light at 90 degree angles, if you stacked TWO CPLs together, and aligned 90 degrees to each other, you will see nothing. all black, meaning 100% of light totally filtered off.
QUOTE(willer @ Jul 25 2012, 12:44 PM) Quite true if the water is clear enough u can see fish, but I think without that u also can see fish. One thing about cpl, I blive it using same technology on our LCD watch screen, u try turn Ur cpl while look into Ur electronic watch, it turn full black. It limit the direction of light, so reflection at diff direction will be blocked. I got a hoya cpl also, but very less use it |

50mm on NEX will give you effective focal length of 50x1.5=75mm (based on 35mm format)
85mm on NEX will give you effective focal length of 85x1.5=127.5mm (based on 35mm format) The focal length is like zoom. The longer it is, then you can shoot faraway objects easier but the field of view is much narrower. E.g. if you want to take photo of lion in Africa, you won't want to use 24mm... read here... fantastic tutorials... http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/learn-pho...hy-concepts.htm The Sony NEX sensor is APS-C sized, and there is a crop factor. Most lens spec is listed based on 35mm standard. E.g. the kit lens 18-55mm and 16mm, combined with the crop factor gives you the effective focal length of 27-82.5 and 24mm respectively. See here for illustration: http://digital-photography-school.com/crop-factor-explained QUOTE(badguy @ Jul 25 2012, 04:17 PM) any one can teach me about the different between 50mm F1.8 VS 85mm F1.8 This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Jul 25 2012, 04:28 PMwat's the different??? Y the 85mm one so so expensive??? and is it the 85mm can do more zoom(DC) than the 50mm?? or the 85mm look more wide angle?? |

dpreview seems to indicate otherwise, think 5N can fight or on par with Canon high end SLRs...

can you try using the MD-NEX and the 50mm 1.7 lens without the extension tube?
would it be clear if it's without the tube? if it's clear, might want to research more about using extension tubes with that particular lens... may not be compatible.. QUOTE(Ah hao @ Aug 8 2012, 12:02 PM) can anyone teach me how to use extension tube? i bought from ebay, use MD-nex adapter and a manual 50mm 1.7 lens. This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Aug 8 2012, 05:33 PMUsing M mode, but problem is no matter how i turn the focusing ring, it stay focus infinity, all things blur, including things as far as from another side of living room... |

isn't 16mm equivalent to 24mm? Is 24mm too wide? btw, can't see anything in the facebook photo set... probably security settings
QUOTE(endau02 @ Aug 13 2012, 05:55 PM) 16 is too wide la https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4...65545566&type=3 this whole album (sg rush) is shot with 16mm nonetheless, still a good lens to keep |

I also did some quick tests on my NEX C3 with the 18-55 and 16mm... slight vignetting for 16mm but I think not as bad as what is mentioned above.... see for yourself (sorry the zoom lens was moved a bit hence the different FL). Straight OOC jpeg resized only.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Aug 14 2012, 11:10 AM) I also notice it got slightly vignette when snap indoor dark, but not that bad as Noobiba one. This 16mm is wide angle lens, I think it means suppose be wide right. This post has been edited by poolcarpet: Aug 14 2012, 11:30 AMAdded on August 14, 2012, 11:11 am It got slightly at right side but not that bad, and probably is lighting issue, as my room only got one small light, and right side is far darker than left. |
