BTW, that SP90, u using what adapter to NEX? and for sure no AF right?

Due to the fact of no AF, I'm seriously looking for an old Minolta MD 50mm F3.5 lens since I having the Minolta-NEX adapter liao..Dunno good buy or not since not many review on the ancient macro lens..

Right now still waiting for my Sigma 70-210mm...BTW, your raynox? no deal?
*
I'm using the LA-EA2 and a Sony mount SP90, so yes, there is AF of course.

Like others have said, when you get down to Macro level stick with MF. You'll want full control over your DoF.

Thought I sent you a message regarding the Raynox? Had a buyer reserve it. Sold already.

Why kidding? You cannot handle SP90 + Raynox + 10filter? Keke. If you cannot handle it, i will teach you.
*
I'd rather not have the degradation that comes with stacking so much glass on the lens. It's minor, but it's there, and on macro level, minor is a lot. Pixel peeping fever I suppose?

any one here with NEX-5N know why I got this message "cannot record to DVD disc at 24M(FX) on movie settings?.
I got sandisk sdhc that support 30MB/s..but still cant choose the 24MB & 28MB movie record settings.

and where is the 1080 with 60i settings? it does not appear on the menu.
should NEX-5N support 60p and 24p HD video?
*
The message is just a reminder that you cannot put the video directly onto a DVD. It has nothing to do with your SD card.

Local 5N records videos at 50p/i and 25p/i. You won't notice the difference.

what about those 1080 60p with slowmo effect? I did not see those option in settings.
*
NEX-5N does not have such video effects. In fact, I'm not aware of any mirrorless that has such effects in 1080p. Nikon 1 series does it, but only for 2.5 second clips (Motion Snapshot).

So all those slowmo clips from nex5n was made using a software rite?
Anyway, as fir the 1080p60, its for ntsc unit, mine is hk model which use PAL system so it stated 1080p50 on the settings.
*
What they actually do is shoot at 50p/60p and then encode the video to 24/25, hence the slow motion effect.

Dear All sifus, wanna ask which one is better for my nex-c3? all can be fit with same adaptor right?

MINOLTA MC ROKKOR 55mm f1.7 manual lens
MINOLTA MC ROKKOR 58mm f1.4
MINOLTA MD 50mm f1.7 MANUAL LENS

Thanks smile.gif
*
Go for the 58mm. The slightly longer reach translates to 87mm equivalent focal length, much more pleasing for portraits and such.

1.4 would very useful for low light shots as well.

MD is lighter than the tank built MC and also newer. Some say MC PQ much better than MD but very personal.

Opened my door and almost squished this guy. Took a shot instead. A little soft though; wouldn't stay still long enough, and there was no light. 5n + Tamron SP90.

Maxxum AF 50mm f1.7, if i use it with MD-Nex adaptor, does auto focus functioning?
*
Is it this one? http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=17

If yes, then it's an A-mount, and you will need an MA adapter instead. You will only get AF if using the Sony LA-EA2 adapter. 3rd party adapters do not have electronic chips in them.

Wow, short and precise. Great information, thanks albnok!

I'm using LA-EA2 with SAL35F18 myself thanks to your previous feedback.

One thing I don't understand though, why do one needs to set the aperture down to F11? Is it a LA-EA2 limitation which obviously I'm not aware of?
*
Albnok was just giving an example of the Live View not showing real-time DoF compensation. Notice with E-Mount lenses, when you stop down the aperture, DoF on the LCD/EVF increases. However, with the LA-EA2 attached, and while using A-mount lenses, this does not happen.

So in other words, you will need some grasp on how stopping down Aperture affects the DoF, because you will not see it in real-time. What you see on the LCD is always the widest aperture.

If I had the 24CZ I wouldn't be selling it already! Haha. So, before I get poisoned too much, best get rid of it, and move on with my initial plan!

Does your NEX 5n tend to under exposed? Mine at least half to 1 full stop under using kit lens, matrix or centered came out same... Now have to adjust to constant over exposed by 1 stop...
*
That's right, the 5N has the tendency to under-expose, exactly as you describe it, to save highlights.

Check out this new case!

Still prefer the original Noctilux f0.95 that works so fine on a manual film camera tongue.gif

Nobody ish gonna compare em side by side.

Plus, the review from SteveHuff looked promising..

Btw, TechGarage aka Hambone does not bring in the SLR Magic 50mm. I would've known if they have stocks for em anyways.

Feast your eyes, but dun get over-poisoned.

I've seen the Steve Huff review before. I'm sure all of us NEX poisoned people regularly visit his site, or used to.

"Will have a few test units once they're ready to sell to let you try out the differences smile.gif Let us know if you're keen yea!" From TG's FB page. It was when they posted Steve's comparison review (the one you just linked), made a few comments.

1070 USD which translate to 3k+ as Zstan said.
*
That's what I mean... I was comparing the price relatively. The Noktor is only 10% of the Noctilux... which, relatively, is cheap. But still doesn't change the fact that the Noktor is just a redesigned CCTV lens...

which lens?
16mm and 18-55mm are using 55mm cap if i recall.. pls check..
ori from sony center, generic from anywhere..
*
Wrong.

All E-mount lenses use 49mm except for the SEL18200, which is at 67mm. 49mm lens caps (rear/front) are hard to come around here. I suggest you try eBay. Or Studio Zaloon; would be a good shot.

Look back a few posts and you'll see someone purchased 5NK for RM2199 at Harvey Norman. Most shops in KL area also selling it at that price. 5ND though still runs about RM2500~RM2600.

You need to improve on your technique then. Handheld shots with MF lenses require a bit of discipline. Read up on ways to steady yourselves (grip, straps, breathing techniques). The breathing technique is a staple for shots; goes somewhat like, inhale, half shutter focus, exhale halfway, shoot.

Also remember to take into consideration the focal length / shutter speed adjustments (known as the Reciprocal rule). Your shutter speed should not be slower than your focal length. So for the NEX, it would be Shutter Speed = 1/Focal length*1.5. If you were shooting with a 50mm, that would be 1/75. 75 because focal length multiplied by 1.5 (crop factor of NEX sensor, and most APS-C sensors).

Of course, sometimes you are not allowed the luxury of shooting at faster shutter speeds. This is where the other techniques come in. I've shot with 90mms at 1/30 speed, sharp. Look for hard, steady surfaces to rest yourself on. Have a proper foot stance to ensure you have maximum stability. Keep your elbows as close as possible to your chest. A lot more.

A quick google search: http://blog.muddyboots.org/2009/04/avoidin...mera-shake.html
