Guys, need your opinion... For macro photography, will LED lighting (continuous) be suitable? Or am I better off with a flash?
Thinking of getting: LED light (can also use as torchlight during power outage http://www.dealextreme.com/p/syd-0808-64-l...rder-4-aa-37409 Or maybe macro ring light... http://www.dealextreme.com/p/yongnuo-wj-60...-3-x-aaa-109212 But definitely getting this IR remote because it's too darn cheap http://www.dealextreme.com/p/infrared-ir-s...-x-cr2025-65182 This post has been edited by Dreamworks: Feb 11 2012, 09:52 AM |

DX's prices are quite reasonable, my only concern is their terrible packaging. I once bought an item but it came full of sticky cellotape... Like in layers and layers and layers, dunno what the staff was thinking

Hmm... How much is NEX-5 worth in the market nowadays? Thinking of buying a brand new NEX-5H package for RM2800, but keep SEL18200 for myself, then sell off the fresh body + used SEL1855 from my 5N. Feasible?

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Feb 12 2012, 06:22 PM) Faux leather. As for sweating, unless the top of your hand sweats and covered by that grip, I reckon it's a non-issue. If the inside of my palm sweats, I'll just release the grip, air our my palm and voila! Dry hands again. Neck/shoulder strap makes the whole NEX setup swings around. And with lenses like the CZ24 and 18-55, it'll sway as I walk. I prefer being at the ready with camera in hand, but I'd like not having to hold on to it all the time. Hence the grip strap. Aha, personal preference I guess. For me I rather have the cam around my neck and leave both hands free for something else. Btw, the grip looks good and price is reasonable. I usually don't have the patience to search for stuffs in Japan This post has been edited by Dreamworks: Feb 12 2012, 07:23 PM |

CPL filters can be tricky to use if you are trying to get rid of multiple reflections. Turn here reflections on side A gone, but side B appear. Turn there B gone A appear, or maybe I'm too noob
Example of multiple reflective surfaces: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(fansoption @ Feb 13 2012, 03:40 PM) SEL18200 around RM2k to RM2.3k, Tamron extra RM200 to RM300 for now... Hopefully the price will drop and they come out with a fix for blurry pano shot issue.QUOTE(jimmyyap03 @ Feb 13 2012, 03:52 PM) Just get my NEX5N with 18-55m, wish to try out some macro picture... If I recall correctly, there is only 1 native E-mount macro lens atm which stimix already mentioned. Or you can get a MD to NEX mount adapter for roughly RM50, plus a used Minolta lens for another RM450. However, have to MF lor if use cheap adapters, unless you wanna get LA-EA2 adapter and invest in A-mount lenses Any recommend on the lens? should i get the lens or adaptor on my 18-55m? QUOTE(Ah hao @ Feb 13 2012, 08:44 PM) You could be the first, be sure to post some shots! And be careful not to get any dust in the lens since its mounting side exposed to the outside world. This post has been edited by Dreamworks: Feb 13 2012, 10:21 PM |

QUOTE(chiahau @ Feb 16 2012, 10:23 PM) I tested it before, and it's better than the 35mm f1,7 for the Nex mount. Which also happens to be 4x more expensive than what he mentioned. Heck, even the design itself looks good But for me, so far, the best E-mount lens for prime lens is the Nokton 50mm f0.95 prime lens Just that its fully manual focus, something which is not bad on the Nex for the focus peaking. |

QUOTE(Ah hao @ Feb 25 2012, 05:11 PM) tokina version (start with NO.37) macro is only 1:4, not really a macro lens... but from what i read from internet, quite a number of users said Tokina is the best among vivitar series 1, if you don't mind macro focusing... How true is that i am not sureĀ Hehe, there are a lot of Series 1 out there (8 iianm). Kiron does 1:2.2 macro, Tokina 1:4, and Komine 1:2.5... Komine is said to be the sharpest of the bunch though, but then again some prefer the Tokina. Since you've you used the Tokina with NEX, mind sharing how's the overall feel (when you say bulky and heavy, I assume handling is bad?). Need tripod to get decent pics or will handheld be sufficient? Tokina version is the lightest and smallest among first 3 version of vivitar series 1(all review said only choose first 3 version), but Tokina version is already bulky and heavy, so i really cant imagine the other version's weight and sizeĀ This post has been edited by Dreamworks: Feb 25 2012, 05:40 PM |

Fuyoh, suddenly everybody so active... Was awfully quiet last weekend
QUOTE(Ah hao @ Feb 25 2012, 06:50 PM) ya...the handling is bad for me Most tele lens usually like that, big and long and maybe heavy especially old ones with metal-build, really need a tripod if zoomed out. I bidded (and still winning atm) for the 1st version by Kiron, gonna need to start exercising my hands and arms as it's the heaviest of all when this lens attach to nex, i hold the lens instead of camera, if i hold on camera i really scare the mount will break apart and when focusing,i turn focus ring with 1 hand , hold the lens(camera) with another hand, then hand shake seriously till i always get blur picture maybe i have a chicken hand QUOTE(stimix @ Feb 27 2012, 12:31 PM) That one crop at F3.5? Yeah really wow..I think I must reduced my F from 1.4 to probably 2.8 or 4 too haha NEX has a crop factor of 1.5x so a 50mm (FX/full-frame format) lens would equal to ~75mm on our cams, not sure whether the adapter will affect anything though. Can always try a extension tube if you want close-ups, cheap and can be used with majority of lenses unlike filters which are limited by its thread size, 49mm cannot install on 55mm and vice-versa unless add step-up/step-down ring. One think I dun like about 50MM after using it for few days + the added adapter is the focal lenght permanently >50mm & wth the adapter probably 80MM? That's already any auto max zoom lens liao compare wth my existing 18-55 kit lens and if wanna shoot food picture, I need to sit further away from my food.. |

Finally got fed-up of bidding for a Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm f1.4, bought a Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f1.7 via "Buy It Now" instead, so much faster and easier and cheaper
http://www.buhla.de/Foto/Konica/Objektive/e50_17.html Total lens + adapter + hard screen protector (foc) + USPS Priority shipping = RM260 QUOTE(Ah hao @ Feb 28 2012, 02:38 PM) Oooi... Your pet ar the owl? Why always there for you to pics one? My place want to find satu bird also hard QUOTE(nlik @ Feb 28 2012, 10:34 PM) Hit between F16 to F22 aperture, iso 100, 200. It will just black out the objects in the foreground and gives u those deep colors. Back home, use Gimp to change the color balance with more red and yellow. The problem is more to .. being there at the right time , right place with the right weather. The left pic is actually quite interesting, nowadays cameraphones all got powa I am starting to think that sunset and sunrise pictures are one of the easiest to get, even without the very capable NEX.
