Type of camera/lens/accesories : Lens for Sony A6400
Budget : <RM2000
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Any
Type of photography u want to do : Landscape or Portrait
Any specific models in mind? : No
Any specific features u want? : No

I just bought the Sony A6400 with kit lens. Like others said, pictures are not that much better from Iphone regretably. So looking to upgrade with proper lens.
Also, do I sell my kit lens or how ya?

Oh, and I just use my camera casually for events like relative's wedding or when I go on vacation.

Appreciate any inputs.

Keep the kit lens. Depends on our budgets, you can look at 1) Sony 35mm f1.8, 2) Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN or 3) Viltrox 33mm f1.4. Personally, I would get the Sigma 30mm f1.4 for the bigger maximum aperture.

Thanks! I'll probably go for the Sigma 30mm f1.4. Been trying to find shops that sell used ones.

I am inclined to agree. Camera/lens are not cheap..

If you dont mind to use manual focus to try out the focal length / aperture, can go for 7artisans.

Just sharing my pov, im not a professional photographer but a hobbyist who have spent about 10k on it (im using sony a6300).
For kit lens, it really is almost equivalent to what a phone camera can achieve, heck, even samsung s23 ultra zoom is so powerful, or 14pro max ultra wide.

You need a lens that can do something your phone cant achieve. If you want to enjoy landscape, go for ultra wide or telephoto 70-300 (probably the cheapest sony lens for telephoto).
If portrait or night shot? go for sigma 30mm f1.4 or sony 35mm f1.4.

Ah I prefer AF actually. thanks for the suggestion on landscape lens!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions! Playing around with this one right now.

Just wasn't expecting a prime lens (I'm a newbie I didn't know 30mm would imply it being a prime lens), but I'm getting the hang of it.
