Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : just surveying first. Maybe below 5k
Your Location : KL or Seremban
Preferable brand : Canon
Type of photography u want to do : Scenaries, People
Any specific models in mind? : Canon EOS 650D
Any specific features u want? : Just user friendly and easy to use.

Surveying DSLR for my gf. Is ths Canon EOS 650D suitable to be used by beginners?

I see Canon website showing EOS 650D (body) selling at RM2599. Just the body is enuff? Or do I need to buy a better Lens to match it?

Sorry for the noob question. Noe not much about DLSR.

That's a pretty high budget for a beginner laugh.gif
Yeah I guess the 650D would be a good choice with the touch screen feature.
But since its not an entry-level DSLR, you might need to stick to Program mode for starters. But since its not an entry-level DSLR, there is more space for improvement and convenience once you get the hang of taking shots.. it all depends on how interested you are in photography..
Still, if your gf is only interested in taking snapshots, it might be better to get a mirrorless camera, at least its lighter  laugh.gif

"Body" means without lens, you're going to need a lens for the camera to work nod.gif
The kitlens that come with the camera would be a good pick

Hmmm...mirrorless camera is also known as interchangeable-lens camera?

Currently eyeing on this model.

And what do you mean by it is not an entry-level DSLR? It is listed as for beginners in Canons website. hmm.gif It means based on your experience, this camera is also capable to be considered as semi-professional? shocking.gif

Yeah, those are small digital-cam-like cameras which are capable of lens changing, and also rival certain DSLR in terms of performance nod.gif

Its sort of for new-and-medium-leveled beginners' choice I guess haha That camera is no slouch  laugh.gif
It doesn't really matter what's the categorization of the camera if its used only to take normal, everyday photos, the skills of the photographer is the most important nod.gif
If budget is not a problem, the 18-135 lens would definitely be better since it offers extra reach, but at the expense of portability lo (depends on how much your gf is willing to carry).. go to shops and try out the thing 1st before making the purchase  icon_rolleyes.gif
