QUOTE(mikimiaw @ Jan 5 2013, 03:47 AM) Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact camera Budget: rm500 - rm1000 Your Location: KL Preferable brand : Canon or Nikon Type of photography u want to do : Potrait & Landscape Any specific models in mind? : none Any specific features u want? : Life Long battery *addition* file format can be save in RAW Hi. Do take a look at the Nikon Coolpix P7100. I just bought one myself and I am very happy with the results. It has the ability to shoot in RAW format and its battery life is above average - 350 shots according to CIPA standards, but if you reduce the brightness of the LCD dispay and turn off all sounds from menus and buttons, it can last well up to one full day of intense shooting. I brought my unit for a test-run in Mid Valley last week and its battery life really surprised me. In terms of photo quality, I dare say it is able to produce DSLR-like images if you really spend some time exploring all its functions and capabilities. QUOTE(mrtresynth @ Jan 4 2013, 12:16 PM) I need a recommendation, Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact camera Budget: rm300 top (tell me if i should increase it ) Your Location: KL Preferable brand : none Type of photography u want to do : P&S, self potrait, vacation purposes Any specific models in mind? : nope Any specific features u want? : not using AA battery Thank you all, your help would be much appreaciated The Canon PowerShot A3400 IS should be the camera for you. It is able to produce clear and crisp images without knowing much about the twists and turns of photography, hence the name point and shoot. To top if all off, the A3400 IS is equipped with touch screen functionality, so touch focus and touch shutter is not a problem. But you will have to be prepared to top up another RM200 for this camera. This post has been edited by bb100: Jan 19 2013, 11:29 AM

But its LCD monitor is a bit small (at 2.8 inches diagonal) compared to other high-end compacts.

QUOTE(mikimiaw @ Feb 14 2013, 09:41 PM) I do check some review abt it...how about Canon Powershot G12?? what's d difference between dis 2?? G12 and P7100 are two direct rivals. Both have the same sensor, and in terms of functionality, they are very similar to each other. However, no two different models are 100% identical. G12 is equipped with a swivel-type LCD screen while the P7100 has an articulated-type screen. The screen size on the G12 is slightly smaller compared to the P7100 (2.8" vs 3.0"). If you are a fan of big screens, G12 will not make you happy although the difference is just a mere 0.2". Image quality slightly favours the P7100, in my opinion, and according to most online reviews. That's the ultimate reason for me to pick the P7100, besides the screen and (of course) the price. When I bought the camera, it was a whopping RM300 to RM400 difference. I do not mind the articulated screen on the P7100, as I mainly use it on landscapes and portraits.

Oh ya. The P7100 feels a lot sturdier when you grip it on your hands. If you look closely at their handgrips, P7100 follows the shape of your fingers. Feels good man... This post has been edited by bb100: Feb 14 2013, 11:10 PM
