Hmm.. not sure how to put my dilemma in template, please bear with me sifu
I have a GX1 which is rarely used because I could not afford a prime lens back then and the kit lens is near to useless as I often shoot portrait, macro, and low light. My smartphone is able to satisfy my casual photography and i found no use of my GX1 for years recently met some people around me who are into photography and I am motivated to start all over again, this time with more budget After some research, I am having 3 options 1) buy a prime lens for my GX1, which would allow me to explore the type of photography that I long to do previously.. cheapest and easiest option. But, that sensor is noisy for low light by current standard and lousy jpg output even for casual. not sure a fast prime could salvage that 2) sell my GX1 and get a 1" PnS, something like RX100V, G7x II, LX100, LX10 etc. For this option, damage would be around 2.5 - 3k.. might forgo better low light IQ due to smaller sensor but I need not worry about lens in future and i get newer bell whistles which might make the experience more enjoyable 3) sell my GX1 and go to A6000. Then add something like SEL50F18 or SEL35F18. This is the most expensive option. But I would anticipate much better IQ up down left right front back. oh ya, the wifi feature comes handy This post has been edited by N33d: Nov 28 2017, 08:09 PM |

QUOTE(joker_jr @ Dec 6 2017, 10:53 PM) Type of camera/lens/accessories : Mirrorless if you wan small light easy to carry, m43 cams are more suitable for that role. whether to save the money for lens (GM5), or a better sensor and feature (GX85) is up to you. But i would say GM1 plus some 20mm 17mm pancake prime is a good combo for what you wanna do.Budget: Rm 3,000 - 4000 Your Location: KL Preferable brand : None Type of photography u want to do : Street, Landscape. for hiking and travel trip. Any specific models in mind? : Lumix GM5, Lumix gx85, sony a6300 Any specific features u want? : Small and light, easy to carry. sony's cam body might looks slim but that is just an illusion. Due to larger sensor, most of its lens are bulky and you cannot beat physics. but the dynamic range and low light output of the sensor is hard to ignore |

QUOTE(Loseeker @ Apr 20 2018, 06:20 PM) Sony a5100 is very compact hence it is very portable. And the screen can flip all the way up so it is good for vlogging. If u want, u can check out the size of it at Great Wall camera shop at padungan street. If they dont have a5100 for display, u can look at the sony a6000/6300/6500. They are good references as regard the size. As for best price, you can try lazada. I got 99% of my photography gears from lazada with their coupons, which hardly comes by these days. saw your comment about buying from lazadado you buy those 'grey' import one or all original? the price diff is quite tempting sometimes drool |

QUOTE(mellovicious @ Jun 19 2022, 12:11 PM) hi guys. pls help. cant decide For APSC, I would go Fuji. In your case xs10. Fuji offering for APSC is more sincere whileType of camera/lens/accesories : Mirrorless Budget: rm4K - 6k for body only Your Location: KL Preferable brand : Sony or fuji Type of photography u want to do : Group event/travelling/street photography/outdoor portrait Any specific models in mind? : A6600 / X-S10 or others??? Any specific features u want? : IBIS, good ergonomics i sold my RX100 because i feel its very limited performance (although very compact which its nice). hope to get something better is A6600 worth it considering the prices now? Sony seems like they neglect their apsc format or use it as a feeder system for their full frame. their current APSc, A6xxx line up, even the newer zv10 all using very old and outdated slow readout sensor. Rolling shutter is very bad if you plan to explore videography in future or you prefer to use electronic shutter like me. Their ibis... forget about it. Fuji ibis isnt the best but compare to Sony, I think they are better. I haven't seen xs10 in person or handle it, but I read a lot people said the grip is good, you need to test it out yourself as we all have different hands. Again, Sony camera is not known for ergonomic mellovicious liked this post

QUOTE(cyxnide @ Jun 27 2022, 10:20 AM) Thank you for your honest opinion. I always think it as garbage in garbage out concept. Feed the sensor with image from bad glass and that is what it recorded, and that is the max quality output you are going to getSo it is still possible for me to get satisfied and take decent picture with a cheap old body paired with a decent lens? For me, new cam vs old cam biggest diff for photography is mostly the autofocus department, image quality such as DR, high iso noise does not improve much, might even decrease a little in some case at extreme as the newer sensor is optimize for other attributes like readout,AF speed than absolute image quality improvement (eg, xt2 vs xt3 at high iso). When you know the engineering team has to make compromise like this, you know that the current sensor tech is already mature and improvement for each generation is marginal. You wouldn't miss out too much from an old body cyxnide liked this post

QUOTE(TendouSouji @ Oct 6 2022, 11:32 AM) you need the setup suggested previously to start to see thr difference between a phone and camera. If you go by a kit lens, you will regret that you bought a 3k new camera as you find no diff or even latest higher end phone night mode took much better pic at low light 2 of my friends who bought a camera thinking that could up their insta game, 1 regretted and falls back to phone. Another one almost gave up until he invested in 1 fast prime lens TendouSouji liked this post
