Actually i am also abit undecided now despite having my mind set on Nikon earlier. Probably because the more I read, people are saying that Canon entry level DSLRs come with a built-in motor as opposed to Nikon's. I don't know if this is a big factor..

hi I wanna ask one question which may sound stupid.

For PnS digital cam, the zoom is mentioned in terms of X, example 10X zoom

For DSLR, the basic kit lens is 18-55mm

basically, the 18-55 mm is more powerful (can zoom further) than the 10X zoom right?
