QUOTE(CuteDay @ Sep 14 2014, 05:48 PM) Hi bro thanks for ur constructive feedback. I think i dont have special interest for low light shooting. Just that i don't want to miss any nice views at night. But my friend said taking photo at night requires skill and i may not be able to shoot without proper skill. Thats why he says using my iphone 5s is enough. Read your post while sitting outside in a cafe here in Taipei. So wanna ask for more opinions on this. How's the difference of rx100 or a3500 compared to iphone 5s? Is it like super drastic diff? Do u guys recommend a cam or really just use phone? My 2 cents is different people have different interpretation of super drastic diff. If you're into those instagram filtered look or just using your photos in small size for blogs etc then a phone is fine. Don't have my RX100 nor the Iphone 5 with me but here's a snapshot comparison between HTC One M7 and Fuji X-E2 (an APS-C sensor camera just like the A3500). Both were simple point and shoot (shot program auto on the fuji) without any adjustments except resizing. HTC One M7 ![]() Fuji X-E2 with 18-55mm Program Auto. ![]() |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Sep 21 2014, 10:06 PM) Wow... M7 isn't really too bad when looking at both resized version. If look at full res + pixel peep then don't know la My 2 cents...Since I recently moved from dslr to mirrorless. Depend on your priorityAnyway... I'm here to... Type of camera/lens/accesories : Mirrorless/DSLR Budget: < RM3k/ S$1200? Your Location: SG/KL Preferable brand : More interested in Sony ILCE but still... Other brands if do well then acceptable too Type of photography u want to do : Landscape/Buildings/#foodporn Any specific models in mind? : A5100, A6000 Any specific features u want? : Everything Have read a lot on A5100, A6000, RX100 III, then also looked at options like the Fuji X-A1/M1/E1/E2 (kena attract by the price of A1, M1 and E1 on lelong. A1 dual lens kit only RM2k, M1 not too much more expensive but X-mount lens very expensive right?) Fuji xtrans sensor is doing well in terms of low light performance right? Not sure how to really interpret the dpreview noise comparison but those xtrans sensor output shows really clean output compared to A6000 and others even at iso 25600. E-mount lens also not very cheap la... That's why considering to get the A-mount also but A77/A77 II is over budget, A58 is not up to my likings... But E-mount can use converter to mount those fun lenses or maybe cheaper lens from Canon/Nikon. M4/3... I know got some really nice M4/3 out there but they're priced so close or higher than APS-C options (like GH4 but I know it has the performance that deserves the price la)... So I'm now having spinning head... Totally sesak jalan in the camera maze. Any model in mind to recommend? I'll take your recommendation then go read on it RX100 Mk1, 2 or 3.. for pocketable camera... as in really can keep in pocket.. accept no substitute. Does everything well enough from stills to vids. A5100, A6000... techno king. All the features under the sun and THEN SOME. I heard the next version can even make breakfast and coffee but which lens to use? Seriously.. what lens to use? If its just the kit, might as well just stick to RX100. X-E2 .... Slow, quirky and barren compared with the competition. But damn ... the thing's got mojo. Very very very involving... awesome image quality. Brilliant brilliant fast primes for comparatively not much money and an excellent standard zoom though it begs to be used with primes. Not for beginners though. Also consider M43 ie Olympus 16mp body + plenty plenty of affordable lens to play about... like the body cap fisheye lens that goes for ~$300. |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Sep 21 2014, 10:59 PM) But RX100 series is really doing quite well considering the price point and the mere 1" sensor inside it. Considering this coz it's really versatile, like you said... It does everything well... I can actually accept a P&S, just not sure if I'll regret not going for interchangeable system in the long term. Again imo as an amateur family guy with camera... I'll most likely stick with a RX100 if I'm only going to have one camera. Nothing beats having a camera (smartphones don't count) with you all the time that you can keep in pocket or chuck it into a laptop bag etc for that impromptu photo opportunity/ decisive moment.Ya... Techno king but to choose between one another is very very hard! I'm beginner (although studied dslr related things for very long time, but was then still studying, can fork out money to buy) into photography so I'm thinking that maybe I should go for the lower end A5100 as I may not be using the Hotshoe and also the extra 5 or 6 fps speed. I also get to have the 180 degree display in A5100 although I know Sony can't put it in the A6000 due to the EVF... But then... EVF in the A6000 should be really handy in bright sunlight and gives more "non-tourist" look to take picture without using the LCD ( Of course just start off with kit lens, sure will expand in the future, at least a 35/50mm prime and maybe a wide angle (around 10 to 14mm should be nice). Don't quite need tele zoom though. But from review, SEL1650PZ IQ is not as good as the older SEL1855... So maybe take body and grab 2nd hand unit 1855 or take the 1650 Kit and sell the lens off? I don't mind to go to the "Expert" level for my first step. Get to learn the tough way M43 Since interchangeable lens cameras are more about the lens you're going to use rather than the body, it would be a good idea to google up lens that's available, their price, performance, weight etc for the systems that you're considering rather than to base your decision on the body itself. My trusty beaten up RX100 on my more trusty beaten up el cheapo caselogic pouch that has seen many adventures with various inhabitants. ![]() |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Sep 22 2014, 01:22 AM) Yeah I understand that... Full fledge DSLR mount can get cheaper lens like 50 F1.8, 35 F1.8 with most manufacturers but Mirrorless has more flexibility to use converters due to short flange distance. Speaker about own brand lenses, Sony E-mount is really quite expensive. 35F1.8 costs 600SGD Really have to think twice Olympus OM-D E-M10/E-M5 and E-P5/E-PL7 are now in my lists to survey since they fit into my price bracket. If wanna save maybe I should survey on the E-PL6 also. It's quite a lot cheaper! Btw... What camera you shooting the pic with? Converters = manual focus.. I know its zen and all but you sure you wanna do that? Considering the crop factor.. even the average 50mm is like 100mm on m43 and 75mm on aps-c. It's shot with X-E2 + 18-55 kitty lens. |

QUOTE(hinmin @ Sep 26 2014, 12:56 PM) Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR Fuji X100s or X-E2 with 27mm pancake.Budget: around RM3k Your Location: Johor Preferable brand : Nikon or Canon Type of photography u want to do : Street, Portrait Any specific models in mind? : D5300, D3300 Any specific features u want? : No Hi, guys. I started my photography interest with a canon S100 for almost two years already. Now that i've pretty much reached a saturation point in which S100 couldn't satisfy my "desire" already. XD. Moving from point and shoot to DSLR is my simple plan. To be frank, i'm interested in prime lens photography. Don't recommend me to buy second hand camera/lens because i don't know how to inspect the condition of that camera. Thanks in advance I just made the switch from a 60D |

QUOTE(DaddyO @ Sep 4 2017, 03:19 PM) Errrr.... depending on your shooting style, preferences and other issues, a6000 or a5100 with kit lens would often times be better than RX100 III. a6000 has better ergonomic grip and a5100 has the familiar touch to focus while able to maintain stability. Yes, RX100 has bigger aperture but a6000/a5100 has bigger sensor so pretty much even out. I tried RX100III once and feel like it could slip out of my hands if I try to run with it in my hand so not really comfortable for me personally. The stick on grip is a must imo for RX100s. If anything a6000/a5100/any other mirrorless compact cameras would be a better buy whereas RX100 is more for portability while maintaining superb image. But again, TS will not make any mistake if he choose either. Just weigh in the pros and cons and try out first. I like it so much that I even stuck one on my GF7 |
