try update again via kies and check n see.. or just OTA again..

1. nope, default launcher stays at 5 pages.. if u wanna change it, use 3rd part launchers
2. y u wanna use kies anyway?
3. any size > 1280x800.. the tab will resize accordingly to fit your screen. do note that for custom wallpapers, it will crop into horizontal and portrait mode.. try once, n u will know..

*
1. I'm using my tab for business so no need so many pages. But I decided to use Go Launcher now.

2. I want to know about kies as I want to transfer files direct from my pc which is running Ubuntu Linux without going thru a USB and then thru the USB to the tab.

I'm using my pc to do all my work and using the tab as a client presentation sort of thing. For business use. For normal work the tab is too slow compared to a normal pc. But for one to one with clients it is an excellent tool perfect for the job.

3. I've taken q few pics using mu HTC incredible S and they all ended up being cropped when I try to set them as wallpaper. Now I can just resize them accordingly. Thanx

1. oic.. if u dun need it then juz ignore the extra pages.. anyway, 3rd party launcher will do.

2. yr USB refers to USB cable or USB pendrive? I'm not very sure about kies on linux. How bout trying some wireless transfer apps? ftp transfer apps? or even using dropbox if your internet connection is fast enough for bigger files.

orly? that's bad.. not smooth as in very low fps? usually for HD and FullHD .mkv movies i will just watch it via my smart tv.. seldom will stream or copy HD movie to watch in my tab cz too time consuming to transfer files.. 480p does fine or 720p .mp4 do good too..

yeah.... quite sad. samsung advertise 1080p video playback. the tablet struggles even with 720p, false advertising man lol.

i managed to get 720p playback working, but must convert to the suitable config using VidsOpt, which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102922 =.= damn mafan. i love watching movies on my bed.

takes 20 minutes to encode a 20 minute video on my laptop lol. so much for portability.

yeah they mentioned 1080p and that does not say it is 1080p30 which is the normal frame rate for HD video.
it does play very smooth 1080p at very low frame rates such as 10fps
so by definition they did not con you although it is a shame....

Bloetooth file transfer problem solved with ftp. rclxm9.gif

Used a neat app called Swiftp complete with a guide on how to use it with Windows based PC. Although I had to fiddle about for using with Ubuntu Linux. Anyway its not a big issue cos I can guess quite a number of owners here are using Windows based PCs.

We can choose to transfer files over Wifi or over a proxy server. So if security and privacy is a major concern, just transfer over wifi. Very fast. I transferred a total of 270MB from PC to Tab in less than a minute. Just like that. Good for transferring lots of small files directly to a specific folder. But for larger files >500MB size it took some time. Close to 12 minutes for a 680MB movie

Can even open files in the Tab and view in the PC.

Check out the link for the guide.

yup.. good for you then.. that's wat i'm trying to suggest u..

anyway, there's another way round, which is open files in your pc and view in tab..

can be accomplished by using few apps, but i'm using ES file explorer, then at the LAN column, just type in yr PC ip address, name and password, then u r able to access your pc files via tab. bit troublesome thou during initial setup, and you need to know your pc ip address, if it changes, u need to change as well..

Haha!! Thought the same thing when I saw that column in ES file explorer also. But stopped when they asked for the IP address. Besides, I prefer to do the vieweing, copying and pasting from the PC side of things. Much faster.

Hi guys, after transferring files via mtp, I wana remove my tab from the USB cable. Usually if its a pen drive, there is the safely remove drive icon at the computer task bar.

But there isn't one for the tab. All this while I just remove only.
Is there a safer way to do this?

Hey there,

I also got curious the first time when transferring files via USB cable. If you read the thread in the link below,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261043

It's said that it is perfectly safe to remove the device because it uses MTP protocol (whatever that is). I've no problem so far. But right now I transfer my files via Wifi, using Wifi Explorer. So much easier smile.gif

I saw the 7.7 in samsung store, the amoled screen is nice and its very light,
But its kindda small for a tablet in my opinion.

I'm so use to the size of the lower left buttons, back, home & recent apps.
Cant accept the ones on 7.7, those 3 buttons really very small. Hard to press.

Anyway'

The optimum point between size, comfort n portability is different for every one.
Kinda pointless if u ask for opinion here. Go to samsung store n check out yourself.:-)
They display all the galaxy products there.

About the weight, aim for a light casing.
My casing is light, the rubbery king with smart cover. Just 700+ grams.
If you use those thick leather kind, it will reach 900grams.
Believe me the casing you choose will make a difference.
