Overcome or task rom if you want honeycomb.

If you willing to try ics, try one of the kang rom.
Kang ics is very much faster than honeycomb, only downside is camera not working.
If you can live without camera, go for ics. If not stick with the ones mention above.

Search in xda for these roms. They are famous and will surely pop out in your search,

ics already available since feb. been using since then.
go xda try the kang ics build.
everything is stable, no unknown hang or force close.
super smooth and nice. other than both camera not working, everything else does.
go flash if you dont use camera. seriously you have no idea what you're missing. :-)

i used to think official is the best. but recent events in this month totally changed my point of view.

sgs2 just got ics official update. xxlpq.
but trust me, it was soooo bad, i downgrade back to gingerbread.

here is a proof of what i'm saying.

I experience every single issue mentioned in the above link.
when an app force close, the whole screen black and not responding for 10 seconds.
the wifi keeps breaking, often loose connection even though it says connected.
the animations are smoother, but there are random "hickups" all over the ui.
i did a full wipe clear cache etc. but still the same.
i even get the "tw launcher has force close" (facepalm)

this is what the flagship sgs2 got.
i dont think the tab will get anything better.

further more, this tab the hardware is not up to par with s2.
if it runs a rom that has tw, it will be very slow.
and official rom from samsung 100% will have touch wiz.


just do a clock work mod backup, if you dont like ics, you can easily revert back to your honeycomb. :-)

honestly the hardware is pretty bad. nothing can be done about that. what you can improve is the software.

to lock screen by touch screen, install 'sceen of and lock' from play shop.

learn to root, then flash a custom rom. Overcome or task rom are good honeycomb roms.
if you dont use the camera for video call, highly recomend flash kang ics, its the smootest and fastest so far
dont expect miracles though, even on ics, its still slightly slower than ipad2, what to do, tegra2 and ulp geforce is the most shitty dual core out there.

screen protector as long dont buy matte kind is ok. but up to personal preference, see you like to pamper your eyes or fingers.
matte screen nice to touch but blur image, clear screen is clear and sharp image, but not so smooth to touch.

daimond and clear basically same.
just that it has some glitters that shows when the screen is off.
when its on, its barely visible.

last time when i buy screen protector for phone, saw the shop show me,
diamond sp for phone seems quite ok, small shinny screen.

but for tab, abit "over" for my taste, carrying a big glittery screen. haha.
the smudge level same as clear sp only.

you know something interesting about sp pricing?
in mines, price of clear, matte and diamond sp for phone are
rm15 - 20 - 50

in pasar malam is
rm5 - 8 - 12

so go pm and buy. same thing

Widgets make screen scrolling super laggy on honey comb.

On ics, the whole launcher is smooth, no lag even with Widgets, screen rotating is very fast as well.
So don't worry, the lag issue will be solved when ics arrive.

Not really looking forward for the official version. Touch widz will slow it down to hc 3.2 standards.

Even if cyanogenmod9 reach final release, the only improvement is the functional camera, and wifi direct. Man I miss this feature so much, using USB otg is not that fun.

you flash the correct rom or not? wifi version is p7510, not p7500.
sometimes flashing will cause weird unknown error. once i flash my phone, the speaker just stop working. no sound at all. i though hard ware failure. but re-wipe and reflash again then everything ok. sometimes weird things happen, always do cwm backup before flashing anything. :-)

Don't forget its also heavier and thicker. Hahaha.

Get a real pen and paper. Even with the best note taking app called super note, with touch screen sensitivy tweaks, still can't replace real pen and paper.

aw man...you bought the wrong tablet.
if note taking is primary function, check out galaxy note 10.1

the s pen can really substitute a real pen.
got presure sensivity also. really nice.

I have the overclock feature in kang ics all this while bt never bother to try it.
Iset to 1.4gh on demand. Boy the speed increase is definately noticeable. Especially swapping tabs in browser. It use the lag awhile for the new page to appear, nw the loading time is reduced. Amazing.

Not sure how it affects battery life. About heat, cnt feel any difference probably due to the casing.

or in other words,

tegra 2 totally lose to exynos.

Definately go for kang ics.
Then overclock o 1.4ghz,
Then only it will be as smooth as ur note.
Browser and over all UI speed improve greatly.
But 3d apps and games just minor improvement.

Kindda sad for tegra2. Overclock to 1.4ghz only can equally fluid as my sgs2 that I'd under clock to 1ghz.
Tegra2 is really a weak chip set, the first but weakest dual core out there.

tegra2: galaxy tab 10.1 resolution 1280x800

exynos: galaxy note resolution 1280x800
exynos: galaxy tab 7.7 resolution 1280x800

tab and note same resolution.
sad to admit, but seriously, tegra2.....haiz....
