QUOTE(Koki @ Jan 31 2012, 11:01 AM) If you need more info, this is the best site you can find:http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1336 And the procedures as stated in Android central is one of the commonly used procedures to upgrade or you can refer to xda forum for alternatives eg using GNex toolkit to upgrade firmware |

Just installed aopk milestone3 ontop of bigxie apex1.0 without phone wipe. Change kernel to apex v5
Perfect install has been on it an hour no obvious significant bugs noted To proof that is safe n perfectly ok to install another developer rom ontop another developer without phone wipe Added on February 1, 2012, 8:10 am QUOTE(damnreaper @ Feb 1 2012, 06:51 AM) That is bad. Mine is still good coming to a month use. It is probably due to constant friction with hand and sweatMine is always with case rearth slim or in melko case. So very well protected This post has been edited by benny888: Feb 1 2012, 08:10 AM |

QUOTE(Molotov Cocktail @ Feb 1 2012, 09:56 PM) when flashing using CWM recovery when is needed to wipe cache and dalvik cache, when flashing roms only right? or flashing other than roms such as kernel and other mods also need to wipe cache and dalvik cache It is advisable to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache even when flash kernel. It only takes a few seconds. No harm doing it. Cleaning these does not do any harmFlashing other mods not necessary |

QUOTE(Molotov Cocktail @ Feb 1 2012, 10:02 PM) what is the function of wiping cache and dalvik cache, just want to know, and if flashing numerous zip, need to restart every time flashing or just straight away install from zip after previous flashing without reboot The Dalvik cache is a place where the Android OS re-compiles the executable programs the first time to optimize them. It only needs to do it once which explains the "cache" part -- unless you make a major change like replace the kernel. If you do that, you want to manually clear the Dalvik cache to force Android to recompile the apps for the the new kernel.I also believe the main data Cache is used by the Android OS at runtime to write temporary files for specific reasons. You want to clear this out when you try a new ROM so it doesn't re-used that cached data. Manually cleaning both caches out allows the new ROM to be installed in a "cleaner" environment. Just look at what you want to flash. Example you flash a rom than you want to flash a mod of its theme . In such a case , it is better to flash rom reboot than flash the mod. If you are flashing something on top of the rom which doesn't have it than you can flash it simultaneously example flashing gapps immediately after you flash Milestone 3 rom. There is no fix rule - use your common sense. Know what you are flashing. If you don't know or unsure, safest is to flash it individually after a reboot This post has been edited by benny888: Feb 1 2012, 10:20 PM |

QUOTE(AlphaOmega001 @ Feb 1 2012, 10:13 PM) Baseband is your phone radio/modem > It controls your phone signals, data reception etcNo need to upgrade if you are happy with it. Upgarde only if you consistently faced line blacKouts, difficulty in getting internet connection on 3 G. But before you change , analyse your problem first over few days to ensure it is not telco issue. Or try it with another telco simcard Added on February 1, 2012, 10:28 pm QUOTE(am830115 @ Feb 1 2012, 10:19 PM) my bassedband abit gila.... when received/make call.... my signal gone from full bar to no network, What is your baseband now ? QUOTE(AlphaOmega001 @ Feb 1 2012, 10:30 PM) XXKK6 is a good one as I never have any issues so far with it. XX is Europe based which works very well in all Samsung phones in Asia. I do not know UG is from which country, probably in Latin America as UB is Brazil |

QUOTE(am830115 @ Feb 1 2012, 10:33 PM) Build 21 , quite few users complain about line issues. Switch to stable version latest is Milestone 3. Just upgrade it, no need to wipe phone. You install these nightly builds, learn and accept many bugs with the phone |

QUOTE(ho-ll @ Feb 2 2012, 09:56 PM) Hi guys, I tried to flash the upgraded ARHD 2.1.5 ROM, did the clear Dalvik Cache and wipe data and then flash the ROM. However, I realized that I need to re-setup the phone, restore all the apps and data manually again. Question is, I thought flashing an upgraded ROM will not wipe previous system apps and data??? That is because you choose wipe data which is factory resetAnyone can clarify on this? Added on February 2, 2012, 10:02 pm QUOTE(FuNks @ Feb 2 2012, 09:26 PM) First time you flash custom rom advisable wipe data. Root your phone first use titanium backup to backup your apps/data n use cwm backup whole rom too incase you need restore backThis post has been edited by benny888: Feb 2 2012, 10:02 PM |

QUOTE(Fallenangelz @ Feb 2 2012, 10:10 PM) depending on the rom's nature. if dev ask u to wipe, den u better wipe. if din ask u to wipe, its recommended to wipe. Most will ask you to wipe but i never even moving among developers. Anyway is your choice as you can always wipe data in recovery mode if phone fail to boot |

QUOTE(Koki @ Feb 2 2012, 11:09 PM) You can use any apk, just need to change the resolution only. The APK are the same for all phones irrespective of phone size display if you are getting such APK. And a warning to those using pirated Papago, depending on your source of such apk - be aware your phone will hang/freeze , sudden reboots frequently. Go and buy original copy to avoid such issues - it is only RM 99This post has been edited by benny888: Feb 2 2012, 11:12 PM |
