Alligator rotor discs are thin... easily bent. Not good.

Agreed. Good for WW, but lacks serious usage. I got tired of truing the disc after every ride and sold it off. Heats up fast too.

If you're planning to get Avid rotors, don't get G3. Get the HS1, I think better.

Guys,

Have you guys heard of Alligator components? They re mostly cables, and brake disc...are they any good?

Alligator rotors looks nice, but does look thin and less braking contact. rclxub.gif

I think avid discs are good and cheap enough.

The Avid rotors are round the same price as the HOPE rotors, why not get blings? cool2.gif

Added on February 10, 2012, 5:16 pmWhat's the reason behind the shimano rotor love? According to a friend who is using it, nothing to shout about wo?

If you're running the 160~165mm rotor size, the HOPE's floaters are pretty WW. Can kaler matching samo

Oh really? I always thought Hope brake components are on heavier side ...but powerful ...
Shimano? Well the only reason is because I want to match it to my brakes ...same same ...if I used Avid ...would prefer Avid disk ...that kinda thing la ...
Will certainly consider a Hope disc then ...

For now will live with the Aligator...after all its for the rear brake ...who uses rear brakes anyway cool2.gif ...hahahah...just joking

Front using 203mm. Almost 2 yrs. fit and forget.
Rear using 180mm. Bend badly 1 time when i hit a rock while going down. The 2nd pcs visibly hv a little bend aswell after a year of abuse. But it didnt rub the brake pad, so to me is not a concern.

The disc tickness is the same between this 2 size. But the arm of the 203 is obviously beefier which make very strong

160mm? Too light, i dun like smile.gif
