Thanks bro. Cost about RM1+++ as i bought the kit with battery, radio, and servo. By the way, soon the factory kit will arrive in Malaysia. So the normal kit price will reduce.

i use Axial Rock lizard 2.2 tire and standard 2.2 Axial wheels from AX10 RTR kit!! i own AX10 also..!!
you need to use longer shock, rise body post a bit , trim front body fender and cut front bumper as well!!
this 2.2 is very big but give me more of crawling ability compare to 1.9!! and look wild also!! laugh.gif

here some photo of my Honcho now! sweat.gif

for now, i like Tamiya scale crawler with the CC01 chassis. but again, you can suggest any brand.

1. My advise, bigger capacity batteries. 3800mAH would be the sweet spot (ni-mh). If you got the budget, get Li-Po, they last much longer
2. Motor and ESC, again, if the stock one is fine, use it till it dies (1 month? 2 months?) Unless you got budget, I'd recommend the HobbyWing 9t Brushless combo
3. Stock form is good enough.
4. Alu items are not cheap.

Here, enjoy this video of another guy reviewing the same truck (under a different name tongue.gif )

Not voltage, its capacity. Means you can play longer.

Li-Po voltage is 7.4v (2cell)

And oh, watch out for the c rating in the Li-Po

Between 20-40c should be safe. Too high and you might risk frying your ESC

Servo is a 9kg unit, seems to handle just fine.

My only gripe is that the front end seems a tad bit too light. sweat.gif

Ya. All of us also move the weight to the front one, the battery especially. And added more "weight" in the front wheels. We all cheapskate use the "weight" for the real car. Hehe. Tape it around the wheel, means inside the tires. To add grip in front.

Anyone has a HSP truck/buggy whereby sand keeps entering your pinion gears? Anyway to prevent that from happening? I've stripped my diff gear for good :S

Here's to show the amount of grime that accumulated over time

But i suggest you get the XSTR-PRO, with brushless. Save you the cost of upgrading later, in which, inevitably, you will brows.gif

i also got bronto, stripped my spur gear dry.gif

Changed to brushless, but mesh did not do properly..

Buggy, on the other hand, is holding up pretty well.. Top speed also very fast brows.gif

And oh, for those who wants to change to brushless, please do change your pinion to something smaller

bronto stock pinion is 17t, advisable to change to 15/16t

xstr stock is 23t, i changed to 20t, still very fast.. brows.gif

aaaand damage thus far (due to brushless POWAAHH)

- dogbone came off. Easy fix, just screw open the hub carrier and put it back in
- rear end of bodyshell broke. No fix, need to buy new shell, but not so soon brows.gif
- Center diff grub screw came off. this is my fault, did not tighten well enough

That should be about it..for now

Welcome aboard!

From what observe, your car is the stock brushed form. thumbup.gif

If you want batteries, you can try higher mAH NiMH cells, say 3800mAH onwards. In future, you can upgrade to LiPo power as well. There are certain precautions on using LiPo batteries, and I'll try to list them out when I have the time.

Oh, I do have the EXACT same buggy. But it's pretty trashed right now. New set of wheels on the way.

IMHO, this is the perfect car for starting out the hobby. If you want to continue in the hobby, good. You won't lost too much if you decide to pull out as well. But as a word of advise, DO NOT upgrade the buggy to brushless motors. I've done that to my Brontosaurus, and it SUCKED. These HSPs are not built for brushless power in mind. Keep them in brushed form, and they will reward you with decent reliability and parts support. If you feel like you want more, I suggest you save up and get a proper and better car. For me, I'd get the Traxxas Slash 2WD. Very durable and well known brows.gif

BTW, where you from? Perhaps we could bash together? wink.gif

EDIT : Just noticed you wanted LiPO batteries. No problem, but you may run the risk of burning the ESC/motor. Also, if you do plan to get LiPo batteries to match your stock brushed set up, you MUST buy a LVA (Low Voltage Alarm). The alarms are about RM15 each. Get a decent LiPo battery. Avoid unknown brands, stick to better brands like Turnigy or Zippy.

Also, please read up on how to take care of LiPo batteries and maintenance of LiPo batteries. Dangerous stuff.

Yup, it is stock brushed form, this is my 1st buggy. Still learn to adapt my hand n brain to control the gun-type-transmitter.

thinking to upgrade the battery 1st as the stock battery running out so fast. I might buying 3800mAH battery as thats the highers rate the ESC can support. (according to the warning sticker)

haha..yes i noticed that you has the exact same buggy. read this thread from page 1. what happened to it? look trashed pretty bad. Try to avoid motorcycle and hit a divider and landed in a such a manner that caused the lower arm to break, resulting in the awkward position of the front wheel? tongue.gif

I dont think i will quit this hobby as it is not as hard as flying the Belt CP V2 (yes i have 1 of that too). Upgrading to brushless, maybe not now as i still have a difficulties to control the car left or right, the gun-type transmitter confused me. We always want more didn't we? I was once looking to buy HPI Vorza, but the price is killing me and it is hard to find in Malaysia market. Maybe one day, I'll buy Traxxas E-Revo..hahaha.

I'm from selayang. ~1 hour drive to cheras via MRR2. tongue.gif

Might take a while for you to get used to the gun-type TX. haha. I've tried using a 3900mAH NiMH pack on the buggy with no apparent ill-effects. So I guess up to 3900mAH should still be safe.

The buggy got whacked pretty badly tongue.gif I think it ran straight into a curb. hmm.gif Cant recall that well tongue.gif Get used to the car first. Feel how it handles. In brushed form, the tires should last quite some time, if you're playing on paved roads. The Vorza is a damn nice car, 1/8th scale and very durable. I do believe DaiSheng might have the Vorza, also prices might be sweat.gif

In fact, I dont exactly bash in Cheras. I have a friend who has an offroad track at Kajang. biggrin.gif It a 1/8th track, so 1/10 cars might find it a bit harder to navigate, especially the jumps. So as a word of advise, don't jump just yet tongue.gif I've tried jumping in my new car, darn rear pivot block came off a few times rclxub.gif

May I know where you get your stuff? So that I can recommend an appropriate shop to get your supplies? There are 2 shops in Klang, in which one of them has very competitive prices. The name is MyMegaStation. If price is not an issue, you could also try RC-Smart at Sunway Giza mall. Or FGM Hobby at Bdr Sri Permaisuri. If you are near SS15, there is RCDreamz there. If you are near Puchong, there is DRC Toys (You have to negotiate with them a lot!) The other shop at Klang is MyRCStation. Decent prices as well. But please do compare prices before buying ya.

Yes, getting better with the orientation now. So it is OK to use 3900mAH NiMH. Your ESC didn't burn?

this buggy quite easy to handle. I play it at paved roads at my house area. The wear out tire worried me, how much does it cost to change 4 pieces of it?

I see, if kajang that is very far away from my house. I surveyed the price at respected shop website as u mentioned, but i bought my XSTR at Berjaya Time Square 6th floor. i think u know the place. I've been to RCDreamz once, but the car that I've looking for, they dont have it.

Regarding the Balance Charger, can you recommend me some good brand/model that doesn't burn a hole to my wallet?

My ESC is fine, although my brushed bronto is on the way to burning the forth brushed motor. If the tires got stock, expct to pay about RM35-40 for a pair of rims+tires. Prices may vary from shop to shop. RCDreamz used to have the buggy a year ago. Was priced at RM299 at that time. You can try the BC6 balance charger, but you will also need a power adapter.

What you are looking for should be under tools/hardware.

I've bought quite a few LiPo batteries from HK with little to no fuss. And its highly advisable to change your connectors to the Dean/T connector. The original Molex/Tamiya plug wont cut it. If you do plan to buy, would it be possible for us to COD? That'll keep your prices down too.

i sure do need a lot of helps. regarding the digital balance charger (the features, programs, function, etc), heat shrink tubing size, how to solder, size of dean/t-connector (if any), size for all 4way Wrench, Hexagon Driver and Screwdriver +/- that suitable for RC buggy n heli. blush.gif
*
Balance charger : Read manual. But basically, you MUST NOT charge LiPo in NiMH mode and vice versa.
Heat Shrink Tubing : 5mm? I'll have to double check
T Connector : Standard size. no worries/
Hex driver : Buy a set for various hex, most comes in 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm and 3mm. For wheel nuts, you'll need 7mm.

too much problems. uncontrollable. servo cant center. front diff seems to be having some problems. new spur didn't even last a week, sand destroyed it. (bear in mind, it is sealed nicely.) front dogbones bend. and bend. front shock towers, bend. shocks dont offer any form of dampening at all.

no offence, but these HSPs are best left in brushed form, and played with extreme care. Also, the terrain you're playing on must be a prepared surface, not an empty land. small stones got stuck at various spots of the car. shakehead.gif

some problems are because of the brushless conversion, others are simply because of the design fault. the chassis design was never meant for offroad. there's too many holes to invite sand/stones into critical spots. if you insist on going offroad, make sure its a prepared surface with little to no stones. this car had went through the necessary work to keep sand out, but the sand still found ways to annoy me sleep.gif

conclusion, stay away from these HSP 1/10 EP cars. if you insists on this, play it at more gentle places, and keep it in brushed form. the nitro 1/8 is much more durable though.

mine was:

1- my XSTR Front shock tower bend, a little hammering, straighten it back but not perfect.
2- front right shock absorber bend, dunno why. left it as it is cz it unrepairable.
3- servo can't center, have to trim it every time i want to bash it.
4- front right dog bone often come out from the wheel axle when i perform hard turn. had a hard crash before, front link and dog bone all tercabut from the lower arm and wheel.

It is worth it to upgrade to all aluminum component?
- alu front & rear lower arm,
- alu streering hub
- alu rear hub
- alu shock absorber

Bro,

Alu parts are strictly for looks only. Parts like lower arm etc are better in plastic, so that they can flex upon impact.

Also, I'm very surprised at the amount of problems you're having now. Still in brushed form, right? Shock absorber can bend back. Servo? My bronto servo got some weird problems, XSTR servo cant center. My bronto also got dogbone problems like yours. rclxub.gif

Team Losi Racing (TLR) have just rleased detail of their upcoming 22SCT. Based on the 22 buggy, this truck should bring some welcome competition to the Kyoshos and Associateds. This could be the final key in a 2wd SCT evolution along with Durangos plans for a similar truck.

XSTR was not built for brushless power.

This one brushless power ready.

Still need to fix up some small issues, but its pretty durable.

ARTR. Still need battery, receiver and transmitter.

But if got an existing car, carry over lo tongue.gif

That being said, it is WAY better than those crappy HSP/HL etc.

HPI is a big company, so they have cheaper cars, and much more expensive cars, like the Vorza. wub.gif

I wouldn't say that the Turnigy is a fast car, but it is decent. Should not be too hard to beginners to drive. Besides, a 45A ESC in a 4WD SCT is quite lacking. I'd recommend at LEAST a 60A in a 4WD SCT.

I’m from cheras. Hehe. Whats your budget for a new car? What your prefer? On road or offorad?

With a decent budget ~RM700, you can get a decent offroad RTR truck. But if you got less budget than that, you may want to have a look at several other cars

- 1/10 Himoto (buggy, monster truck, truggy). Prices are ~RM399 for a RTR brushed set up. Cars from this brand are decent, but spare parts may be hard to come by. You can find Himoto cars from RCDreamz.
- 1/10 HSP (buggy, monster truck, truggy). Prices from RM350-RM400. Also brushed set up. Price for brushless is @ RM500. But please be warned that with the brushless power, breakages WILL happen a lot more often. For me, I’d stay away from the HSP monster trucks. Suspension geometry does not allow the truck to bottom out, and that transfers the force to the dogbones, and prematurely wearing them out. Spare parts for HSP can be found easily at most hobby shops, but for the cheapest price, you would want to go down to Klang, and find for MyMegaStation.
- There are other choices out there, like the HPI Brama 10B, but the E10 platform its based on, isn’t exactly the best platform out there. Anything more than a mild brushless set up fill melt the gears.
- Then there’s Traxxas. One of the most famous brands for R/C stuff. Prices start from RM800 for a brushed 2WD Slash. Durability wise, I’d say it would be pretty decent, but not unbreakable.
- There may be smaller brands like BSD Racing, HBX, HL, HQ etc, but spare parts will be quite a hassle.

Do let me know if you’ve got more questions. I’d be glad to help you out. Also, if you’ve decided to get what you want, you might want to join me and a few other guys bashing at Kajang. There is an offroad track there too.

Bro, thanks for your kind reply......

I'm from klang, MyMegaStation is just 10minutes from my House only. (1minutes from my sister house only) LOL.
i been there several time, but yet to decide offroad or tarmac! Because i'm looking for KAKI....

but now thinking maybe Buggy or Shortcause! Because i can play it lonely at padang also.
But there is a beautiful and nice Tarmac track at Klang Stadium, yesterday I went there took picture with my new zoom lens... saw only 3 ppl playing (maybe puasa less ppl)

maybe will get two car huh!!!! hehehehehe

budget, i think can go up to 1~1.5k... but depends lah.... because 10y ago I was Tamiya die hard... around that price also....

Short course? brows.gif You might want to give Traxxas a try, considering MyMegaStation is so near to you. Last i checked, the Slash was still in stock. That would be a fine SCT, but for bashing, not racing. The suspension would need retuning, and the COG is kinda high. Those who bash would prefer a higher COG anyways. I would recommend a SCT over a buggy ANYTIME. Do keep in mind that most SCTs on the market are based on 1/8 buggy platforms, but are marketed as 1/10 cars. And they are huge. brows.gif

There is a Kajang offroad track -> https://maps.google.com.my/?ll=2.969892,101...004823&t=m&z=18

I'll be there mostly on Saturday evenings. But that is a 1/8 track, so smaller 1/10 buggies might suffer. There are jumps as well brows.gif btw, when I play, there are mostly nitros around, not many battery players sad.gif

Traxxas Rustler VXL *2.4GHz, brushless Velineon set up, 7-cell Nimh included. RM1300

Spare parts for Traxxas, not sure if MyMegaStation has stock or not. Although stuff like A-Arms, front bumpers, knuckles etc better to get aftermarket ones from RPM. Local not available.

I do have some cheaper brushless short course trucks from Turnigy if you interested brows.gif

Also, the Turnigy SCT improved over the Slash 4WD is quite a few ways.. Servo placement, had alu motor mount.. icon_idea.gif

But if you do plan to get this Turnigy, you must set the slipper clutch to allow some slippage, do this -> user posted image

And also locktite all the screws..

Any car can and will break when you drive it like crazy.

For the 4WD Slash, you might need to standby these parts

- front bumper
- half-shaft
- rear hub carrier
- center driveshaft
- better shocks

There might be more, so i'm still researching

For 2WD, these are common breakages. (means they break easily)

- Caster block
- steering block
- rear hub carrier
- better shocks
- steering hub

Depends on yourself. For me, 2WD is more realistic and more of a challenge to drive. If you drive a 2WD, you must know how to control your throttle nicely. Pro for 4WD is that its easier to drive, and you can upgrade to much more powerful motors without much problems. Theres more traction with 4WD cars, and that makes it easier to put the excess power down. Cons is that 4WD has higher maintenance because of the front driveshaft, center shaft, center diff (if applicable) amongst others. Since I already have a 2WD, my next truck will be a 4WD. But thats my personal choice. Depends on yourself what you prefer.

If you have the budget, stock up on parts that breaks easily and often. This would keep your downtime to a minimum. No harm in keeping extra parts in case something breaks.

The new RB6 is packed with features like a 13mm longer chassis made of high-tech hard anodized 7075 aluminum for better performance and lower center of gravity, “Triple” big bore oil shocks, and it can be setup to run in a mid or rear motor layout. Check out the press release below for all the goods on this new buggy:
With the Optima Mid KYOSHO brought in the 80 years the first mid-engined 2WD buggy on the market. Viewed more as an innovation at the edge of this technology back around today. With the introduction of the Ultima 2WD in April 1987 KYOSHO enthusiastic customers again with new technology and sensational technique! In the same breath, the competitive class was 1/10 2WD-OffRoad. Thus began the golden era of success with the Ultima series, which is still remembered.
Now bring back the concept of a mid KYOSHO engine in the 2WD models, and combined with the Ultima RB6 the philosophies of the rear – and mid-engine drive in a single model. The result is a superb racing machine, designed and developed by today’s standards in materials and technology.
Chassis
The RB6 is built on a chassis made of high-tech hard anodized 7075 aluminum. With kickup on the front side and angled wells, the chassis of the RB6 reflects the technology of the 1:8-off counterparts in 1:10 scale again. With an additional length of 13mm, it supports the model is positive and leads to increased stability.
Transmission & Gear
The all-new gearbox unit is designed especially small and easily. This allows the engine and transmission are placed very low in the chassis, making the overall center of gravity of the model is positively influenced. The transmission is in the rear-engine version and a three-tier manages the force of a ball differential to the rear wheels. The ball differential is adjustable from the outside, the set points are provided with dust covers. In the mid-engine configuration, the transmission is built in four stages to the influence of the motor rotation direction is positive to the traction applied to the model and to provide a more stable acceleration.
Rear axle
The entire rear axle is symmetrical, thus results in low maintenance costs. Track and caster angle can be varied by varying the mounting arm shots. The upper arms are equipped with R / L-threaded rods and pivoted on ball heads. Through the use of spacers, the angle of the upper wishbone be varied. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via propeller shafts efficiently, which shine with a perfect finish. The use of upward angled wishbones more agile steering response despite high stability is achieved on holey ground.
Front
The front is symmetrical, it has a particularly long and narrow wings. Thus, the entire front axle has a particularly compact and light. The bearing of the front wheels in special low-friction ball bearings that are fitted with a fiberglass plate effectively sealed against dust. All parameters such as track, camber and caster can be adjusted with little effort.
Battery layout
The chassis of the RB6 are used both in the rear-engine configuration and in the mid-engine configuration, all current battery types into place. The chassis offers the possibility to use rechargeable batteries as well as stick packs or saddle-shorties, no matter which engine configuration is in use.
Steering & Servo Saver
The all-new ball-bearing swivel and geometry of black anodized aluminum is placed in the same angle as the front control arms, so that the Ackermann effect is achieved across the entire steering range. The use of deflection elements of aluminum, the steering is precise even in the toughest conditions ever.
Hex Clamp System
The hexes on the front and rear axle are each secured with a single screw. This means that the pins be secured against falling out and can be changed with a driver.
Shock Towers
The shock towers are also made from a special synthetic material with fibers. This material has the requisite hardness in the race, but also has the necessary flexibility in the event of a hard crash. Both shock towers have numerous mounting points to the model in every possible line vote.
“Triple” Big bore oil shocks
As the name implies, consist Big bore oil shocks of the RB6 of three components: the upper shock cap, the damper housing and the lower shock cap. The shock absorbers are made from high quality aluminum and are characterized by their ease. The setting of the preload is particularly sensitive about a knurled nut with fine thread. A special feature of the knurled nut on an O-ring that prevents unwanted rotation in racing.
Spring
When RB6 Ultima shock absorbers springs from the home X-Gear can be used. These springs will go through before delivering a quality control in the controls include the proper hardness. Thus, a constant damping characteristic is ensured.
Body
More than 10 different body styles were tested in a wind tunnel and on track to achieve the perfect synthesis of performance and appearance. So united shaping the technology of performance-oriented designs and Cab-Foward nevertheless radiates a touch of the first Ultima 20 years ago. The result is a high-tech body ensures the best possible output for any situation.
Features:
Smooth Velvet Triple-BigBore oil shocks
Big bore shock springs from X-GEAR
Aerodynamically optimized high-downforce body
High-performance racing chassis made of coated 7075
13mm longer chassis for better performance
For rear-or mid-engine rear-configurable

Some updates.

If you plan to buy the GT3C, make sure you solder your power switch wire better. Stock solder will break and glitch the radio. Mine happen just over a month.

Here's the power switch that needs to be soldered.

There were a lot of jumps, cartwheels and crashes. Servo replaced, but still like crap, car just wont steer properly. Not in these pics are the bend dogbones. Also, my battery flew out, and broke one soldering to my battery connector.Bodyshell got completely thrashed.

So.... HSP? rolleyes.gif
