My M4 on one of my rigs, SATA 2 speed.
I have another M4 in a SATA 3 (Z68) rig and like I've said countless times, the difference between them in speed is minimal. So minimal that I don't feel it and I'm one of those nitpicky types that notice something different easily.
The only difference however is when it comes to file transfer rates, mostly when I record real-time videos (60fps, m2ts) then I can see the difference. However I do that on my other work rig which comprises of a 256GB Samsung 830 as my M4 isn't big enough (64GB).
So really, I would like to emphasize once more... DO NOT let your SATA 2 connection hinder your purchase choice of a SATA 3 SSD simply because it "doesn't maximise your speed".
Great post, now someone should put this + SATA3 benchies to the first post (push to next thread version as well) so when we recommend we can just ask them look at first post, easy yes? My M4 on one of my rigs, SATA 2 speed.
