yup, i've install mx video player. but some video still lagging (eventhough same format and resolution). not sure hardware problem, player problem or file corrupt because play just fine on computer.

Yes! Class 10 is faster. You can feel it when transferring files from PC to phone, or browsing album with many images, or loading heavy apps.

I never tried class 6 before .. only class 4 and 10. Won't go back  biggrin.gif
*
so there is differences between classes... hmm.gif theoretically and practically. well then i'll upgrade to higher class.

QUOTE(Snoe II @ Mar 4 2012, 01:13 PM)

how to differentiate those 2 memory card ?? blink.gif

I'm trying to get fat32 to work. Drive is detected correctly, need to find some software to mount it.

So the nightelf kernel will work with ntfs instead of the stock kernel in first page?
Good explanation, but I think will on hold first. Dun really understand yet, will do more read up.
How to differentiate and our stock memory card is what class?

Btw, just sent my sister spiro sliding phone to see service centre, RM66 for ribbon.. hope its that cheap for our xperia pro..
*
apart form capacity, memory card also measured by speed. there is class 2, 4, 6 and 10 available in the market. most memory card manufacturer (e.g. sandisk, kingmax) produce class 2 and 4 but faster memory card, class 6 and class 10 has fewer manufacturer. some manufacturer that produce class 6 and class 10 are samsung and DNA.
wiki on memory card class

here is example of 32gb class 10 microsd. there written 10 in circle.

the memory card i got together with the phone is class 2 doh.gif original accessory with thorus sticker.

so i decided to root my phone but before i want to do anything else, how do i do nandroid backup?

the more i look in the internet, the more i become confuse. any help on making nandroid backup?

some site says nandroid using cwm, but some say use recovery boot option. so which one is easier, and do full full backup, just in case anything will happen later?

Anybody using Neo or Neo V?  Thinking of getting one for my wife, her primary concern is camera.  Arc is too big for her since she wouldn't even touch my Incredible S (too bulky, she says).  Any issues or problems I should be aware of?  Can root easily?  Neo or Neo V better?  Difference about RM100.  Thanks.
*
primary concern is camera? go for neo then. neo has bigger pixel (8mp vs 5 mp) with exmor r sensor (think of sony's cybershot). with just rm100 differences, i'd say go for neo.

the design also look sexy. u'll notice, compared to other 3.7in phone, neo is slightly elongated (shorter width, longer length).

*edited* : exmor r, not exmor sensor.

*
i don't know which step did you miss, but it's just fine with me.

my step.
1. download both USB Flash Drive and wotan server client 3.
2. install USB flash drive 1st, by clicking on the usb flash drive file.
3. run wotan server. make sure phone is disconnect with the computer.
4. wait till wotan server download neccessary file
5. switch off phone, remove and reinsert battery.
6. when wotan server ask to connect phone, hold back button, then plug in the usb cable.
7. wait till wotan server detect your phone, then release back button.
8. when phone setting option available, select necessary option.
9. wait till the phone is processed.
there you go.

I've experienced file corruption and data loss with Class 4 MicroSD that come originally with the phone. Perhaps there's no luck with the unknown brand microSD.

However the microSD works ok with my GPS. So there's something to take note on the quality of the microSD card.

Use CWM or recovery (the same thing) because much easier and makes more sense if anything happens. I do not know how to describe it to you but its like doing Norton Ghost on the PC  rolleyes.gif
*
i use recovery mode, then i chose backup. then which the backup file is stored?

update: nevermind, found already. there is cwm folder in my memory card. miss it earlier. huhu. sweat.gif

challenge accepted. cost me a good 6 hour to downgrade from fw .62 to .58, root, flash custom kernel at last CM9.0

screenshot of my phone. still virgin sweat.gif

p/s: actually i've to flash my phone twice by using wotan server because the first time i flash cm9.0, i accidently removed the phone while it boot up, and accidently flash to another bootloader, causing it to stuck at bootloader.

p/p/s: will compile later step by step how to install cm9.0. tonight to tired sweat.gif

oh, for those who wondering, cm9 = ics brows.gif cm7.2 = gingerbread 2.3.7. latest os for our phone is gingerbread 2.3.4, but if you can wait, the official ics would arrive late this month or early next month rclxms.gif

thanks for sharing bro... looks very interesting. just need some time to try this

noob like me can also do, sifu like u sure got not problem icon_rolleyes.gif
one thing that i hate doing this is missing data. rerware's mybackup good at backup apps and sms, but when i try restore apps, only apk is restored. all my data are gone. sad.gif

quick comment on cm9.0 - no fm radio. keyboard still buggy (can type character but not symbols)

QUOTE(knight_kriss @ Mar 7 2012, 02:42 PM)
bro,

u unlock the bootloader or not??
*
yup, have to unlock bootloader to flash kernel (because cm9.0 not compatible with stock kernel) and rom. i think to access recovery boot also need unlock bootloader.
like siuyi wrote in the first page, can root without unlock bootloader. for "soft" tweeking and rooting no need to unlock bootloader. cool2.gif

I thought you want to do step by step on how to do it? Cuz I still noob about this like how to know the different between custom kernel and stock kernel.
*
still working on it. sweat.gif hehe. just want to make sure nothing left behind.
no need to worried about custom kernel because when you flash the rom, the kernel will be flash together.

There's recovery without the unlocked bootloader requirement. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364509 but I am not sure if it works with Pro. If i am not mistaken, the recovery didn't recognise Pro's shortcut keys, but i think I am not 100% correct, because I read Siuyi got it working.

CM9 look that buggy then I think i'll pass  hmm.gif
*
yeah i think you should wait. the ICS will arrive to our phone late this month or early next month according to this, and the fact that ICS beta rom already publish for Arc S, Neo V and Ray, mean this three will most probably get the update first.

im doing it because reading this thread and xda forum everyday make me gatal tangan to custom rom my phone. it's a good learning process for me too! laugh.gif thanks to you notworthy.gif and other sifu (siuyi, viktorkeong and many other) notworthy.gif that inspired me to do this. hehe thumbup.gif

off topic : so ipad 3 has been launched this morning... hmm.gif

So my phone will back to original state like new phone? I already open wotanserver but i couldn't understand...  cry.gif  Sorry...
*
yup like new phone. wotanserver is a good tool but the website a bit serabut. sweat.gif

1. open wotanserver. create account and log in
2. select your phone
3. scroll down until u see "Tutorial: FREE Firmware Flashing & Debranding Sony Ericsson". click it.
4. or u just click http://www.wotanserver.com/en/page/tutoria...h-sony-ericsson
5. download 2 file there, usb flash driver and wotan client.
6. install usb flash driver (double click usb flash driver.exe)
7. open wotan client.exe
8. wait till it download necessary data (15-30min, depend on your internet connection). meanwhile you can backup/sync/save/export your data while doing this. after that switch off your phone.
9. follow instruction.
10. on phone setting, choose enable advanced setting
11. select the correct model, firmware and CDA (look for malaysia CDA)
12. login with your account
13. wait till it flash your phone (another 15-30min)
14. viola, brand new phone. rclxms.gif
*and you may restore/sync/import back your data*

p/s: im not sure regarding data in sdcard, but i dont think it will wipe your data in sdcard, but to be safe, just make a copy to your computer.

phewwwwiiiit~ nice white mice there~ wahahahahah. report for bug if any. and respond back to the dev team in xda as well~ remember to click 'thanks' ya for them~

brader, if i got rooted version of .58, comes with CWM, can i just put the cm9.0 zip file in the sdcard and extract it via CWM? noneed use fastboot mode, just direct boot into recovery mode and access .zip to install custom ROM. OK? hmm.gif

i did that for my x10i mini pro > MiniCM7pro. duno works fine on such case or not now... unsure.gif
just as what im asking eh~ laugh.gif
*
thanks for remind me. click thanks to them is the most i can do for them, coz kenot donate to them. but im still looking for where to give feedback to the dev team because i can't comment on "development" section due to 10 post rules. maybe i could just pm them.

i think you can extract via cwm, as long as you can boot to recovery. and if you do, please do tell us ok. icon_rolleyes.gif

yup. if you read back at first page where siuyi mention something about lock bootloader, it's the same method. and there are neo user report that it work.

so i guess you want to lock your bootloader to FOTA using SEUS isn't?
