QUOTE(terryforever @ Feb 17 2012, 09:15 PM) Means i can buy those cheap cheap OTG in lowyat? same one. can be used with Neo, Pro & Arc.(last time i ask them, they say only for Samsung. but the head is same) I did google for the info and also demo in youtube, the cable should electrically compatible. The only limitation is the support for certain USB devices. |

QUOTE(puterabemi @ Feb 18 2012, 02:17 AM) so what you use the usb on the go for? well, keyboard and mouse is one thing in the list. other than that? Well, as part of my job, I may need access remote server out of the office and I need ad-hoc file access. Then I can upload or download files directly from/to USB drive.I watch movie too (rarely) and stream directly from thumbdrive for example. No need to copy to SD card. Waiting for LRT or to get home using LRT is quite boring ... Neo serves me well |

QUOTE(cyanboy @ Feb 29 2012, 01:59 AM) I'm using some sort like that. Did saw some shops selling the same thing double the pricing... I am using the simple cable like the above. The OTG cable on the shop is something like this: (And only few shops selling though) ![]() So now probably better to wait for jeopardise response... He even connected his thumbdrive! If it works definately worth it... Hmmm ... I am not sure about you guys but mine's working very well, although USB mass storage needs 3rd party apps to mount it. I think without official SE docking, you'll need root to make other cable to work. I've tried a simple experiment (my phone is rooted) but I can disable root within application setting such as ES File Explorer. I can't access USB drive if ES File Explorer not enabled with root (empty directories). Once enabled, USB files appears. If you need the app to mount USB storage, you can PM me with your e-mail. I think this app need root and busybox. For FAT/FAT 32 it will work easily. For NTFS, you gonna need custom kernel. This post has been edited by jeopardise: Feb 29 2012, 01:03 PM |

regarding usb otg, if u test with mouse with usb cable it might not work because the mouse suck power too much and ur phone unable to power it. that's why SE docking comes with extra power input.
i connect mine with wireless usb mouse/keyboard. Works with my Microsoft Wireless Desktop 5000, Rapoo wireless touch keyboard and mouse. only the receiver connect to the usb otg. it detects exactly the model. pendrive works with limitation, external hdd wont work. Bluetooth module not working, detected as unknown device. Bluetooth mouse/kboard not working because pairing needed password key. what esle u want me to test? |

QUOTE(cyanboy @ Mar 1 2012, 01:04 AM) So means it's possible to use keyboard or mouse without rooting? Just that'll require a wireless one? I think mouse and keyboard will work without rooting ... wireless or none-wireless one.Acutally more interested in plugging in pendrive... Is it confirmed working for major of FAT/FAT32 pendrive if i root? I can confirm it'll work with FAT/FAT32 out-of-the-box. In case the OS can't mount it, it can be enabled using a 3rd party app. I am afraid it needs root and busybox. Without it FC. If you connect it indirectly or using a USB hub, it won't work. QUOTE(waie @ Mar 1 2012, 01:06 AM) may I ask, if pluggin in pendrive works, so in a way, it will add to the storage size or the phone act as a reader? It will act as another (removable) storage. Impossible to add as main storage for the phone.Screenshots made for your kind reference: I am using custom kernel supporting usb-OTG; FAT/FAT32/NTFS/EXT3/EXT4/swap Rooted & unlocked BL, .62 fimware, NightElf kernel Thumbdrive in the picture is Kingston DT109 16GB (don buy this as it's casing break easily) formatted FAT32. If formatted in NTFS, it can read ONLY. This thumbdrive works although detected as Unknown USB device by the app. Liveware detects it correctly. USB cable OTG I bought from Lelong for RM15 only. Added on March 1, 2012, 11:51 am QUOTE(knight_kriss @ Mar 1 2012, 10:46 AM) ooooic...what are the difference btween OTA update with update thru pc companion?? Wotan server OTA won't check the phone has been modified or not.anyway gonna retry reflash to.42 again...and use OTA update to .62 PC companion will check if your bootloader has changed, it won't update. You'll get error phone has been modified. If you root and has unlocked bootloader, you still can update using PC companion. This post has been edited by jeopardise: Mar 1 2012, 11:52 AM |

Yup, that's correct.
I have to unlock, root and bear the risks to achieve this. Luckily not wasted money to buy accessories like cable otg etc Yesterday I just bought a cheap wireless joystick from Lowyat. I wanna try it with Neo tonight. I bought it to play PS2 games and Flight Simulator in my PC hehehe ... Perhaps I'll post a video. |

QUOTE(puterabemi @ Mar 4 2012, 12:46 PM) anybody here ever tried class 6 or class 10 memory card? for general purpose, does the higher class make any different? Yes! Class 10 is faster. You can feel it when transferring files from PC to phone, or browsing album with many images, or loading heavy apps.I never tried class 6 before .. only class 4 and 10. Won't go back |
