I went and tested around KL and totally not functioning at all.. Even when my friend is sharing his phone's internet (because I dun have data plan yet), i think it's kinda working but it's damn slow.. Basically not working
All also 'Looking for GPS'
*
You have to consider about the weather condition when using GPS, few days back I heard the condition in KL was too hazy and causes all the GPS unable to function.

Love the details on the dragonfly! The slight sharpness increase should thank to Flickr, they always give the photos some sharpening when upload sweat.gif

Apparently her dad found a 2nd hand lumia 900 for rm600 iinm.the lumia 900 is very new according to her dad and its from a kaki judi who lost alot $$ in betting on football. She ask me whether if its worth it to get it as she wants to change phone.

I wana ask, whats the pros and cons of this phone? Coming from ios and android,i am not very familiar with windows phone os.My gf will just use the phone for normal usage(phone call, sms, some web browsing,fb and camera)

Thanks.

Yo, RM600 is a steal bro! Get it for her and if she doesn't like it sell it to me! tongue.gif

Girls should like camera app with filters and some urm... I forgot about the word, something to do with collage?

WP7 is not that bad of lacking apps.

I search thru  the marketplace there are plenty of apps just not as much as iOS and Android.

If you look back at iOS and ANdroid back then they dont suddenly in few months have 100,000 apps.
*
The giant apps are all in bound in the marketplace and yes, the current apps serve me well now. As for games I would rather get it on other platforms as the Xbox Live titles are bit expensive. whistling.gif

IMO, we shouldn't wait for the giant app dev to port their apps, we should have something that is unique on our platform, something that home brew from WP platform, something only cater for WP users biggrin.gif

Great!

Sharpening only applies to Flickr generated pictures, which in this case thumbnails or resized photos.

QUOTE
Yes, Flickr (like other sites) applies sharpening to the image sizes generated on the site. No, it cannot be controlled.

I find that I get the best results if I upload the original size of photograph with no or very minimal sharpening and let Flickr do the sharpening for the screen. If I am uploading a smaller size of image instead, I will sharpen enough for screen viewing on that size, but not for pixel-peeping. I save the higher levels of sharpening for printing, where more sharpening helps.

Meaning sharpening only help to make the photo look clearer and sharper but the imagine must be clear in the first place. If the dragonfly I take out of focus sharpening will make my photo look worse

Thanks stranger for that

the thing is, no matter how I tweak the setting or try to focus, the resulted image is nothing like your posted images. It always came out grainy, and not sharp T_T

I'll try to post some image to show what is wrong later.

I suggest you should take your pictures under a well-lighted place or under a bright place, that way your phone camera sensor is able to grab most of the light thus faster shutter speed and the result is the camera will be able to capture all the details rendering sharp images. blush.gif EDIT: Brighter places, less noise.

Aside from brighter places, while taking a picture under a not so well-lit places you need a firm and steady hand (we call it the steel hand, practise makes perfect icon_rolleyes.gif ) As told by a veteran photographer (my photography lecturer), he told us while holding the camera with both hands, tuck both ends of our elbow towards our lower chest line, make sure you're giving it some force so your hands are steady, it may look very awkward at first but trust me, this works most of the time, stand firm on your ground. While pressing the shutter button, hold your breathe and fire away.

For the best result, just take several shots at the same time (something like burst mode on DSLR) and hopefully you'll land on your perfect picture. icon_idea.gif

Just sharing some photography tips, which works on most of the cameras out there. sweat.gif

Forgot to add,

"WHY THE HECK YOU DON'T USE THE LED FLASH?"
The flash from the phone is great, but we use it depends on the situation say for instance, you can use the led flash to freeze the moment while your subject is moving.

A direct flash to the face is like a direct slap to the face for your subjects(or that just me), I use any possible light source available, the flash tends to gives in the oily face effect or over exposed face, sometimes red eye so try use a tissue paper or paper to diffuse the light (softer light), so your subject won't feel the slap in the face. sweat.gif

Windows Phone OS is very much like iOS, in terms of the CONS, such as, restrcitions and limitations (no bluetooth file transfer, no mass storage access, relies on Zune (like iOS to iTunes), etc.
For your GF, it may not be a problem for her, but just to make sure, let her know first, else later she can't send or receive file with bluetooth, she'll might make a fuss.

Since she's not a smartphone user, the lack of apps may not really bother her, unless she suddenly want those apps that her smartphone friends have.

As for the PROs, one of the most amazing feature of Windows Phone is the Social Networking services integration. It have amazing deep Social Networking services integration (e.g. MSN, Facebook). In short, it's like having Facebook built-in to the phone.

Lol, if ur asking such ques in this thread, for sure u'll get 100% YES to get the phone bro.

Anyways, i think the phone suits well to those ppl who doesnt really mind alot about apps. So far i think the only limitation is its usable apps.

Pros: smooth, classy, cool, and durability. Favors ppl who uses email frequently.
Cons: Apps, no external memory card slot.
*
No really. The main limitations is it's very restrictions OS, and full of limitations. For people who want flexibility, customizations, WP7 will not meet their requirements. It's important to state these to avoid people falling in as victim and later only the realize and want to sell off their WP7 (happen to many people).

Not just lacking, but also more expensive apps. The worst yet, the region control. MS need to fix this problem, like,... seriously...

Hmm.. at first, they followed the way of apple~ full of restriction, limitation of hardware in order to maintain the smoothness BUT with WP8, it will support alot of hardware and also support alot of apps.

It's like 1st phase: follow apple
2nd phase: follow android

Yes, yellow yue in the middle. It was not there when you preview it in liveview, but after you pressed the shutter, the color changed. You can check the following pic:

By the way, how do you retrieve full resolution photo from the phone? Skydrive and email shrink them down....
