How can it be smooth? does it compressed the apps? I heard from youtube that it don't support HD viewing?

It's totally different from Windows Mobile. You can forget about Windows Mobile experience.

It's a very simple and basic OS, like iOS. They make it very simple, and have good memory management. If you're expecting powerful smartphone OS, you might be disappointed. It's more of a simple, basic OS, like the iOS, it's more like a media OS, in this case for Zune, as how iOS is a media OS for iPod Touch.
However, most people just want a simple, easy to use, smooth and reliable phone. It provides this experience, but it also comes with some limitations and restrictions just like the iOS (no bluetooth file transfer, reliance on Zune software (as how iOS relies on iTunes), and so on). If you can live with, then it's not an issue.

Finally, the best feature of Windows Phone is the Social Networks Integration, which is done very well and comprehensive. If you're a social networks person (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc), then you'll truly appreciate this feature...
Here's a demo runthrough from Nokia Lumia 800:

Finally found the reason why Whatsapp is slow in getting notifications.

Usually, I would ensure that in the background there are no tasks anymore. So, there'd just be the Tiles screen. But this is considered as "closing" the whatsapp application. Unlike in other phones (like my old 5800), this app won't fetch data if it's not available in the background.

But hey, what's the harm in leaving it at the background. Not that it would hurt the OS. tongue.gif

Seems the same case for Skype as my previous experience.

Bought myself a cyan colour hammer... didnt try to hammer a nail yet... put me in the list please... smile.gif
btw, I cant send photo via bluetooth from other device to this lumia...
Weird..

No, you can think of it like iPhone basically.
No Bluetooth File Transfer
No File Manager/Browser
No Mass-Storage (cannot access to the internal storage with PC -- without hack)
Have to rely on Zune (same like iPhone rely on iTunes).

I think it's important for anyone to find out more and understand about WP before purchasing.

Those lines were exactly what the guy in Pavillion told me. Good for him actually. Just that I wished that before i told him "how do I purchase" he'd warn me first. Just in case I wouldn't be satisfied with the lack of things (As if. tongue.gif).

That's good. It's important to let the customer knows first, rather than found out later and feel frustrated and in a way feeling cheated. There will be users who don't mind all those, just like iPhone. So, it's not nice to hide the weakness of the device just to make the 1 sale.

Gotta link my contacts to it one by one, right?
*
If not wrong, it should auto-link for your for those contacts with matching criteria/condition.
For those not matching, when you tap on link, it will provide suggestion (if there is other possible matching criteria/condition).

Should i really wait for the event ? The store just called me and they said they have stock for me now .. dam .. should i wait?
*
Are you in a rush to replace or get the phone? If not, just wait for the event. The free gift is worth it, it's worth few hundreds, enough for you to buy a low end Lumia phone.

Don't worry, there's plenty of stock.

But i got my 930 today... in lowyat... ><
btw, I found my 900 a bit blurry for the picture that i capture... not sure is my skill or what... ><

Can post the sample photo?

For L800, there is focusing issue where it tends to focus on background if the subject isn't big enough (even it's bigger than the focus box).
Not sure about L900.

You can check where it focus on, else possibility due to shake.

Hey guys,i am using sony ericson xperia arc,and my gf is using a sony ericson too but its not a smartphone.

Apparently her dad found a 2nd hand lumia 900 for rm600 iinm.the lumia 900 is very new according to her dad and its from a kaki judi who lost alot $$ in betting on football. She ask me whether if its worth it to get it as she wants to change phone.

I wana ask, whats the pros and cons of this phone? Coming from ios and android,i am not very familiar with windows phone os.My gf will just use the phone for normal usage(phone call, sms, some web browsing,fb and camera)

Thanks.

Windows Phone OS is very much like iOS, in terms of the CONS, such as, restrcitions and limitations (no bluetooth file transfer, no mass storage access, relies on Zune (like iOS to iTunes), etc.
For your GF, it may not be a problem for her, but just to make sure, let her know first, else later she can't send or receive file with bluetooth, she'll might make a fuss.

Since she's not a smartphone user, the lack of apps may not really bother her, unless she suddenly want those apps that her smartphone friends have.

As for the PROs, one of the most amazing feature of Windows Phone is the Social Networking services integration. It have amazing deep Social Networking services integration (e.g. MSN, Facebook). In short, it's like having Facebook built-in to the phone.
Check out this video to get a clearer picture:

Lol, if ur asking such ques in this thread, for sure u'll get 100% YES to get the phone bro.

Anyways, i think the phone suits well to those ppl who doesnt really mind alot about apps. So far i think the only limitation is its usable apps.

Pros: smooth, classy, cool, and durability. Favors ppl who uses email frequently.
Cons: Apps, no external memory card slot.
*
No really. The main limitations is it's very restrictions OS, and full of limitations. For people who want flexibility, customizations, WP7 will not meet their requirements. It's important to state these to avoid people falling in as victim and later only the realize and want to sell off their WP7 (happen to many people).

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Jun 26 2012, 09:46 PM)
WP7 is not that bad of lacking apps.

I search thru  the marketplace there are plenty of apps just not as much as iOS and Android.

If you look back at iOS and ANdroid back then they dont suddenly in few months have 100,000 apps.
*
Not just lacking, but also more expensive apps. The worst yet, the region control. MS need to fix this problem, like,... seriously...

By the way, how do you retrieve full resolution photo from the phone? Skydrive and email shrink them down....

Use Zune?

QUOTE(lisahasan @ Jun 27 2012, 10:07 PM)
Why no  many people use lumia 900 rather than lumia 800?
*
Lumia 800 launch ealier ma, and during that time got big even, people who buy will get Monsters Headset somemore. After the event, still can get Monters IEM.

Anyway, not really many Lumia 800 users also. Plus, some of them are upgrading or upgraded to Lumia 900.

It's nothing to do with Your phone. Whatsapp is slow recently no matter what phone u used.

WhatsApp on WP is known for the delay problems.
I have no problems with on Android or Symbian, even MeeGo (unofficial WhatsApp), but WP is having delay issues. It's been confirmed by many.
