Huawei unveils latest smartphone Ascend P1
By CHONG JINN XIUNG starbiz@thestar.com.my KUALA LUMPUR: With smartphones becoming an indispensable tool for staying connected on the social media networks, China-based Huawei Technologies has launched an affordable yet feature-rich model. Many queued up as early as 6.30am to get their hands on the Ascend P1 at the introductory price of RM999 during its launch in KL Hilton yesterday. Ong Boon Lin, 35, who was first in line, said he bought the phone for his wife as the larger screen would make it better for “reading news and books”. “The Ascend P1 is a fast smartphone with a camera for capturing and sharing contents while on the move,” said Huawei country director for consumer business group Wong Wey Hwa. A model with the Ascend P1 smartphone at the launch. The phone has a large 4.3-inch screen, making it easy to browse the web, view images and watch high-definition videos. It also comes with 4GB of storage to store content, applications and games. “Huawei has been working behind the scenes for many years by supplying infrastructure for network service providers,” said Wong. “We are now trying to grow our brand using online and social media with the Ascend P1.” The smartphone, which is available currently in the Klang Valley, is expected to hit shelves nationwide in the coming weeks. The introductory price is valid until Malaysia Day. Meanwhile, Bernama reported Huawei country director for consumer business group Wong Wey Hwa as saying that the company was aiming for double-digit sales growth in the Malaysian market. “Last year, we did US$40mil sales in Malaysia for all our products,” he said, adding that the smartphone was expected to contribute 20% to 30% of the targeted double-digit sales growth. Wong also announced the expansion of Huawei's device business under a new distribution partnership with ECS ICT Bhd via its wholly-owned subsidiary, ECS Astar Sdn Bhd, which would open up access to over 3,000 resellers nationwide. “Through our formal partnership with ECS in Malaysia, we are able to expand our product reach and offer more accessibility of our devices to everyone looking for value-added mobile connectivity,” he said. Wong said Ascend P1 would be available at participating ECS retailers in the Klang Valley and in other places in the next few weeks. RM 999 is only the introductory price offered on that launch day only. Normal retail is at least Rm 1200
I would think is not worth mainly because its internal memory is ONLY 4 GB . And ICS has limited functionalities to transfer apps to ext sdcard. For this price is wiser to get the Galaxy nexus which has inbuild 16 GB memory but lack ext sdcard. Or get the SGS II at slight higher RM 1.4K This post has been edited by benny888: Sep 17 2012, 09:47 AM |

Camera not as good as s2. The UI is smoother than s2. Less bloatware than s2. However, p1 do not have much custom rom. u=If you want to stay stock setting, go for p1 and buy 1 sd card. |

I finally get my Ascend P1 smartphone at price of 999 last Monday.. The best features i love are super amoled screen and fast processor speed. And the design is stylish enuf and i love it very much.. Camera wise is not comparable with others, but still OK with the 8 megapixel.
Overall, i think is a good device and sufficient my current usage. Thanks Huawei |

QUOTE(vostro78 @ Sep 20 2012, 04:11 PM) hi, nice to hv end user here... did you manage to get a casing and sp for your device? hows the user experience so far? any +ve and -ve can share? I bought one for my gf. It comes with casing and sp as well. I still find it is difficult to look for 3rd party sp and case. Very smooth UI is you use the 2d UI. You will not feel the lag at all. It battery capacity is small but surprisingly can last so long. Battery can stand 24 hours for normal use, but normally you will start charging before you sleep. If not using it for 8 hours, it only drop 3% with using normal mode in power saving mode. To me, camera not bad at all. Dolby music quite good. The stock earpiece feel lousy ... No need to download H-suite as it has build in H-suite installer inside the phone. Surprisingly, the H-suite support my galaxy s phone |
