nice score right there m8! later will try to benchmark at EXTREME preset for both Vantage and 3DMark11.

Tried MSI Afterburner beta 11. Set the card core voltage to 1.3v with 1325,1320,1315,1310,1305MHz but all crash during benchmark. looks like this card really need a water block only then it can surpass 1.3GHz clock speed I guess.

Now looking for WB for this card and will update here my 7970 OC experience under water soon drool.gif

Very good one Kevin! Nice apple to apple comparison with a nice score on both setup especially CFx 7970s rclxms.gif . Now I cannot wait any longer for another 7970 drool.gif . Those scores and Dirt 3 FPS is truly an Overkill, furthermore benched at 2560x1600!! Woww..Impressive!

Thanks for sharing.

NICE score..!!!

I cant even make it for 1150/1575 for stable OC now... it seems it really need water block >.< ... because i ran graphic test for straight 3 hours and it seems there 2 error detected (with temp avrg:78 max 82)

PS: and when i increase the cvolt it crash .... tongue.gif

Which brand of 7970 you r using right now, Gigabyte or Sapphire? could you please share with us which benchmark you're running above, is it 3dm11, Vantage or Furmark?

I wonder how come some 7970's cards cannot even past 1150MHz even after bumping the coreV..this is not a good news sad.gif since I'm going to grab another 7970 soon...hopefully my 2nd card will be as good as my 1st card.

Mine was gigabyte version . . . it can be OC'ed at 1150 but the heat was #$%^&, unless i manual set the fan... i tried bum volt . . . but ntg happen, its kinda weird because i still can only max OC it up till 1150/1575 or do i need to restart PC to adjust it further?

BTW i share my OC result in this thread before

no program is needed. Just the AMD Overdrive will do. MSI Afterburner may be compatible.

Latest driver:

Beta Drivers (8.921.2 RC11)

Software:

Atiman Uninstaller v.6.2.0 (used to clean out older Catalyst drivers)
ASUS GPU Tweak 2.0.3.0 (requires the ASUS BIOS to enable voltage tweaking and higher clocks)
MSI Afterburner 2.2 Beta 11 (latest beta version)
OCCT 3.1 (newer versions don't quite stress the card as much)
OCCT 4.1

BIOS Files:

Automated Xtreme OC BIOS flashing tool: Tahiti_XT_C3860100_X00_BIOS_Dec20_2011.zip (420k. zip file)
Please note this BIOS is only for the reference design (PCB) HD7970.

So Bro Kevin, are you going to share your CF/TF OC experience and benchmark results on those cards?

Just ran Lost Planet 2 DX11 benchmark this morning with HD7970 @ 1275/1685MHz:
Test B
1920x1080
DX11
AA: 8x
Everything Maxed out!

12.1 is fine for 7970 but 12.2 doesn't work right.

I stick with 11.12 RC11 since it performs well compared to 11.12_7970 and 12.1 WHQL...Other forumer compared the results between these drivers and help us to choose which driver performing better.. but I might lack some of the CCC new features.
