According to OCN senior member, he pm me this:

Added on July 23, 2012, 10:58 pmMeh! I didn't save my old bios. Now with bios from net, I can't flash to Ghz. Luckily owikh84 attached the bios at AMD thread. And it work. Will doing some benchies now.

Added on July 24, 2012, 12:09 amWith Ghz bios, can push up to 1205/ 1500/ 1162mv and achieve P9434 for 3dMark11. CPU at stock setting. Temp never reach 80c with fan speed 50%. This flashing really benefit me. Enough for tonight, gnite!

P/s: Lazy for screenshot as I online from my lappy. Will attach screenie for final stable oc'ing.

How much is the voltage? I can't see doh.gif
*
GPU-Z VDDC = 1.271v on load... AB set to 1.3v
so that means there's a bad vdroop on the GHz bios

Uh? How to check those thingy? rclxub.gif Did Ghz bios allow you to clock higher? In my case, yes... Better than stock bios... BTW, can someone with Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 who able to flash to Ghz share their stock bios backup here? I forgot to backup mine. Now with bios frow Techpowerup, I can't flash to Ghz anymore. And by the way guys, how to know if the powertune is really working?

One more thing... Something wrong with my driver. I installed 12.7, but it's "not detected". No Catalyst version in CCC, GPUZ, and MSI Kombuster. Tried to uninstall and change to 12.6, detected correctly. But on 12.7, no stability issue during 3DMark 11. Haven't tried with any game yet... So, though my driver not detected correctly, is it okay if I keep using this driver right?

As mentioned earlier, GPU-Z & AB recorded the voltages.
Custom MSI bios vs GHz
max clocks: 1342/1750 vs 1300/1800
As mentioned earlier, again, GHz is better on mem OC, but can't go above 1300 due to load volt downed to 1.271v although AB set to 1.3v

The missing CCC version is a known issue, something wrong with the registry entry during installation.
Apparently this won't affect the performance of 12.7 beta as it is still there.
12.7 beta is 8.981.2.0.

What version is your card? Can I try your custom bios with my Sapphire HD 7970? Mind to share? And how to know the powerboost is working?

And for oc'ing, which benchmarking apps that similar to real world? I tried Furmark and Kombustor, both apps only heat up my gpu even on 100% fan but no artifacts or crash on 1220/ 1500, infact I can up the core again. But for 3DMark 11, the temp is far lower than those apps but will crash "driver not responding" on same clock. So, I think 3DMark 11 are the best for me now. I haven't installed any game yet and downloading the demo for benchmarking is troubling due to my slow internet and big download size...

And after 3DMark 11 crash on 1220, running 1215 will cause driver crash happen again. But if I restart my pc and run again 1215 for 3 times, no driver crash but the P Score is might lower or higher. So, do we need to restart pc everytime there is a crash? And in my case 1215 is stable or not? What say you boss? This one quite confused me... Never do serious card oc'ing like this. This card is a poison for me.

This bios will work on any brand as long as it's a ref 7970.

And PowerTune’s new “Boost” feature, which allows the GPU to dynamically OC itself up to 1050MHz if the GPU has thermal headroom. Unless if your taking about stock clocks 1050/1500, manual OCing will override the Powertune feature so i dont think what benefit.

Extremed Unigine Heaven 3.0 is more stressful. Your card seems to be unstable & needs more volts at 1215.

I will test Unigine Heaven tonight since my monitor just arrived. Thanks for the bios. I'm looking for bios that have the highest oc on stock voltage. Gonna use for 24/7. Hehe... So, what do you mean is, those boost are useless if we clock higher than 1050? Wow... Thanks a lot mate...

Added on July 24, 2012, 4:36 pmDo I have rename "v2772d.102" to .rom?

Okay, after I get back from work... With Ghz bios, stable at 1205/1500/1162mv. Tested with Heaven benchmarking. At 1210 no crash but 1 out of 3 run, artifacts appear. Seems like this is a great tool to test stability for a short time.

Added on July 25, 2012, 1:52 pmIf PC freeze during Heaven benchmark, what does it indicate for? Bad oc'ing or Seasonic 620w S12II is not good enough to oc this monster?

Received my Sapphire 7950 last Saturday, but unfortunately it's not a dual fan version as promise.
So I return the GC and now still waiting my Dual fan OC version to arrive.
But anyhow, I think worth additional RM60 for a dual fan, cos I don't want heat issue to stop my overclocking result

Last time using HD7970 reference the noise also become a problem bro..but my current HD7850 using Dual-x dual fan even at 70% also the noise is still acceptable. And yeah its cooler too, good decision and choice from you I would say smile.gif

From all the review, I should say I don't like the reference noise.
Beside, the heatsink also different
I wonder what's the different between this two in terms of material and overclockbility
