Welcome to the proud AMD HD7xxx owner  biggrin.gif . Please share your HD7950 OC results/exp with us all

Received my Sapphire 7950 last Saturday, but unfortunately it's not a dual fan version as promise.
So I return the GC and now still waiting my Dual fan OC version to arrive.
But anyhow, I think worth additional RM60 for a dual fan, cos I don't want heat issue to stop my overclocking result

Last time using HD7970 reference the noise also become a problem bro..but my current HD7850 using Dual-x dual fan even at 70% also the noise is still acceptable. And yeah its cooler too, good decision and choice from you I would say smile.gif
*
From all the review, I should say I don't like the reference noise.
Beside, the heatsink also different
I wonder what's the different between this two in terms of material and overclockbility

reference design got heat problem cause the fan is small ( for me)..if that custom like dual fan i think if we throttle fan manually tp 60-70% don't give d*mn loud noise..my 7970 reference i throttle 50% is already bising...if throttling to 60-70% sure "sakit hati" (bising)..
*
I don't care much about noise, what I can hear is from my speakers. (I always play games in hi volume) brows.gif

Got my Sapphire HD 7950 OC today, here's some benchmark compare to my previous HD6870

(from left to right)1=6870ref, 2=6870@980mhz, 3=7950ref(900mhz), 4=7950ref(900mhz) Max setting

The performance was almost double up from your previous HD6870. Once you OC kaw kaw the HD7950, I believe it can perform even better than stock HD7970  thumbup.gif
*
Ya, I think so..currently working on stable OC (1Ghz/6Ghz +20%power ctrl)
Not dare to try TriXXX to increase voltage, but I'm happy with what I've achieve

Update OC result for Furmark 1080p benchmark
900mhz/1250mhz = 2325 (57c)
1Ghz/1500mhz = 3267 (63c)

Increase about 25% (but I only increase 10% frequency, how come? hmm.gif )

Added on October 2, 2012, 11:25 pmI have a question, hopefully sifu(s) here can answer.
In CCC overdrive, power control.

7950 is a 160W TDP card, by increasing toward 20% setting means allowing 200W TDP for the GC.
Question: Does this means the GC are always working on 200W? Or the 20% means the extra voltage given only when the card need it?

Thanks in advance

Added on October 3, 2012, 12:27 amHD 7950 1Ghz/6Ghz Setup (20% Power Control)
3dmark11 = P7960

Finally Achieve HD 7970 reference (at least in 3dmark11)
Unable to Run in game benchmark, no idea why..

Now looking forward for higher level

Currently benched with 3dmark11, 3dmark Vantage, Heaven 3.0, Furmark, Batman: arkham (Can't get this right, as ref higher than OC)
I believe the improvement from 6870 to 7950 is close to 100%

Yesterday I try to Run Splinter Cell Conviction
And switch on SSAA (which i believe only AMD offering this Anti-Aliasing) in 4X
The graphic is phenomenal, even the leaf and many background detail is anti-aliased. However, this take a huge punch on performance, give it a try

nope bro..using like u i5 2500k with stock cooler..

LOL, It's a waste if you didn't OC a K processor.
Mine working at 4.5Ghz, with stock coller you can achieve 4Ghz no doubt
Higher clock will mininize the bottle neck of your GPU, you should try

I'm using Xigmatek S1283W, 4.5Ghz Run prime95 around 60c
I always keep my eye on the temperature, make sure it doesn't exceed 75c

For i5 2500K OC guide visit, lots of sifu there can help you out, I learn a lot from there

No worries smile.gif
However it's good for you to track the record before and after OC your CPU.
Feel free to share some if you can achieve higher score brows.gif
Good luck bro

I can only achieve 1093 point with 1000mhz/6000mhz OC
But temperature around 50c+, now have to push some limit

Later will try 1000MHz/6000MHz but I guess 1093score for HD7950 is good already bro. Almost as fast as stock 7970  nod.gif . Try to OC some more and see how high your card can be pushed to the limit.
*
I'm working on what's the Max clock I can go within 80C
Cos current Max is about 60C, So I think still a lot of room for me to OC
