I dont use VirtuMVP eventhough I've read somewhere that It can boost up our graphics performance. If Im not mistaken, either tomshardware, tweaktown or techpowerup site has already performed the comparison between GPU alone vs GPU+VirtuMVP and after going thru a benchmark sessions in those sites, I dont think it's really helping so I never really try it.

Have you try it and found something interesting? maybe can share with us...

Im still choosing between green or red sweat.gif . I luv green's adaptive vsync and the new anti aliasing though.

either way is good, but if you're into having a great overclocking experience i suggest go for 7970. Lightning is a good choice, just wait for a price drop first and grab one..You'll love it smile.gif

New AMD driver 12.4 WHQL released, link in the 1st post..to me overall performance is better than 12.3 WHQL. Will perform some benchmark later to compare these new drivers.

Kevin, I've heard that trifireX 7970+eyefinity+dx11 games = BSOD. Is that true? btw, which driver version u r using right now?

TQ

thanks for the WHQL link. I'm using 12.4 beta right now & I feel a bit laggy when playing avi with WMClassic.

3x 7970 + 3x U3011 + DX11 games
not all games will crash
SeriousSam3, Dirt3 = BSOD 116
BF3, Crysis2, MW3 no BSOD

if u r not playing 3D, or u want to save alot of money when your GC idle(AMD ZeroCore), u wanna play with overclocking, cheaper card = get 7970

if u wanna play 3D, dont mind electricity bill(in Idle state), abit overclocking, few more fps in game = get 680

I used 6970 before, the screen tearing is awful.
I don't like tearing, but if i on Vsync, it got a bit "lag".
Nvidia has new Vsync calls Adaptive Vsync, which i like(Not sure it can use on all game though).

But z77 board has VirtuMVP which has a good Vsycn technology too, so maybe i will go for 7970OC, since Sapphire 7970OC Dual X only RM1599 drool.gif

Nice score on ivy Bridge Kevin! Hope those ivy can get past 5GHz and benched with 3dm11/vantage. Mine at 1300/1750 with catalyst 12.x (8.97) and 2600k at 4.85GHz got P10636 on 3DMark11(tessel On), should be about the same as yours smile.gif.

BTW, latest Catalyst Application Profile 12.4 CAP1 download link added in the first post.

Thanks shepard
that's the max core clock my 7970 can achieve, 1350 results in lock up/ black screen. but of course artifacts during test.
3DM11 is not as stressful as other benchmarks. Tried AvP, instant crash. sweat.gif
I'm using 12.4 OpenCL 1.2 (8.960 March 15) beta + no CAP. Will try 12.4 WHQL + 12.4 CAP1 later, later bro

^^ Yeah, mine also the same..1300MHz ok on 3dm11 but crash during crysis warhead benchmark, metro 2033 & AvP. What voltage did you set when OC to 1340MHz btw? I guess it'll be more than 1.3v shocking.gif .

if you are planning to play diablo no need to overclock, game rather lame in the graphic requirement
even stock 7970 is super over power for the game

Shepard manage to sell your card?

Set 1.299v in AB. That's the max before volt modding.

owh, I thought you're doing the volt mod. Still, your card is a monster overclock if It can go up to 1340 with only 1.3v targeted volt thumbup.gif . I might wait until AMD comes out with HD89xx for the next build, so playing with android for a while lol.
