Hello Bro.

I'm from Puchong in an apartment building with a hill behind me.  There are 2 towers are located somewhere in the front about 2km away.  Its a hilly area.  The 3G reception outside the apartment (15m away) is excellent and can get speed up to 3MBps but once inside, it drops to EDGE.

I'm using Huawei B660.  I tried borrowing a friend's omni antenna and USB modem and can get up to 2.5MBps.  But the speed is inconsistent and can go up and down.

What do you recommend for this type of situation?  I'm not sure if the management allows us to put YAGI antenna's on the apartment building outside.

Hi there

The OMNI antenna was with how many dBi ?

Have you tried locking your connection under network settings to 3G only?

You can use OMNI antenna to overcome the blockage issue is you are facing good connection outdoor and bad connection indoor.

As for Yagi or Panel, it is usually used to point to a different network base station to obtain better speeds or coverage.

Hi there

The OMNI antenna was with how many dBi ?  Don't know cos theres nothing written there but I know the brand is from Proscan since he kept mentioning it

Have you tried locking your connection under network settings to 3G only?  Tried using HSDPA only in my HP and got same results.  Don't know how to setup the B660.  sad.gif

You can use OMNI antenna to overcome the blockage issue is you are facing good connection outdoor and bad connection indoor.  I'm thinking this is like the signal not able to penetrate the building walls to reach my unit.  Does that make sense?  For the walls to cause a signal drop from 3G to EDGE?  Or could the few meters difference between outside and inside make the signal drop?

As for Yagi or Panel, it is usually used to point to a different network base station to obtain better speeds or coverage.  The 2 towers are about same distance from my apartment.  One is behind a hill and the other is also behind a hill but not as bad as the other one.

Hi

Do you have any pictures of your friend's OMNI?

You need to set the connection to 3G/WCDMA only through your B660's interface under network settings which would be 192.168.1.1

According to your description, we feel you are facing blockage.

However, it is difficult to determine the capability of network infrastructure at any areas.

Heres the pic with the USB modem next to it. I tried to set connection to 3G only in my B660 but cannot. Currently when I connect my friends omni to the B660 I keep getting signal drops. HSPA-EDGE-HSPA-EDGE. If not using the Omni can only get EDGE.

Hi

Since you are using OMNI and it works for you, we will recommend our OMNIs too.

External antennas

4G: http://andrewsestore.com/store/accessories...al-antenna.html

3G: http://andrewsestore.com/store/accessories...al-antenna.html

Panel and Yagi Antennas are mono-directional, which maximizes transmission distances.
Commonly used outdoor for direction finding, remote communication.
It is used to point at the nearest cell tower if your entire area is affected by low or poor reception/signal.
This will improve speed, reception, signal and stability.

Omni Antenna is multi-directional with 360 ° radiation.
Being multi-directional, it is also suitable for use as a repeater or for a network base station too.
Commonly used for covering range in near distance.
It is also used to prevent blockages where your area is with good coverage but due to blockage you're facing low signal or reception.

Hi again

RM100 for 10dBi Omni antenna and RM10 for Poslaju, total RM110.

Link: http://andrewsestore.com/store/10dbi-omni-...le-antenna.html

You don't need any additional connectors as our antennas are equipped with SMA-male that is compatible with B660 directly.
