Sierra Wireless Aircard division partially acquired by Nergear

QUOTE
Sierra Wireless will be a very familiar name to many travelers who've depended on a hotspot or modem to keep their laptop online. Let's hope they aren't overly comfortable with the brand: Netgear just snapped up the assets of Sierra Wireless' AirCard business, which covers many of the portable 3G and 4G devices we hold dear. The $138 million, 160-employee deal gives Netgear the resources it wants to make a big push into LTE access devices. Sierra Wireless, meanwhile, is blunt in describing the handover as a cash grab: the agreement gives it "significant financial resources" for improving its embedded modules and machine-to-machine devices. The deal should thus make sense for both sides as long as it completes in March, although we can't help but feel that it's the end of an era for jet set data users.

i was thinking off OS firmware.. would it be possible to emulate a lan device from usb as its on windows..
had e372 before.. went suicidal on me.. not really convinced with the performance..
*
How E355 works at Windows is the driver emulate a LAN device, you can use connectify to share it or reverse tether it to your wireless router.

Come with Linux driver as well, if you got time, make it to work with OpenWRT smile.gif

Go E398 then laugh.gif

No and NEVER

NEVER flash a V2 firmware to a V1 router

Only flash a V1 firmware

HI, I have decided to sign up wireless maxis broadband plan with free modem for RM88 per month. There are 2 modems for choices capable to provide wifi internet for multiple devices, 21Mbps MiFi Modem & 21Mbps PortaFi Modem. Which one is better? pros & crons for each...Thnx advance for sharing  notworthy.gif
*
21Mbps Modem come with battery (Huawei E5331)

21Mbps PortaWiFi come with no battery (ZTE MF70)

42Mbps USB Modem (Huawei E372)

If you want amazing stability and speed+3G performance get the Huawei E372.
It is known for a good modem.
Pair it with a 3G router eg TP-LINK MR3420 or a portable router eg Hame MPR-A1 smile.gif

I subscribe to maxis broadband and got the Huawei E5331 MiFi modem. My question is how long does the battery usually lasts? At the box, Huawei claim 5 hours working and 280 hours on standby. But my battery lasts about 1 hour only. Anyone here got the same issue? Is this normal?

Too serious nod.gif

It shouldn't be this bad

You can't compare factory unlocked which means totally never locked device with a device purposely locked by telco

This haven't officially available and the price would be insane considering a E398 cat4 price can easily get into the RM4XX range for a nice device.
