QUOTE(hairul @ Oct 31 2012, 10:20 AM) I suggest you get the MF680 + Portable Router (Tp-Link). Price about Rm300 depend on shop location. The portable router perform very slowly Instead of MIFI..... At least MF680 can plug to any broadband router without to take out the SIM Card. I use portable battery + E355 when I am commuting |

QUOTE(DaydreameR @ Dec 7 2012, 01:13 AM) hi all, im new to the 3g internet. Previously was tethering from my handphone but wanted a dedicated service. I got U mobile that came with a ZTE MF190. I want to get ur expert opinions on which has better signal capture as i live in the outskirts and gotta find spot in the house to get good 3g reception. Currently i can't get 1Mbps download also even though im using the rm128 package. Capturing signal is more on the modem rather than the router.1. Is connecting it to a wifi router with existing mf190 better or shifting straight to a MIFI router? Are there any compromise in 3g signal capture compared to 3g modem dongles? Are MIFI routers wifi signal shorter distance compared to dedicated WIFI routers? 2. If MIFI router is the better option, Which device should look for? I've checked around and found a few: a) D-link DWR530 (have not seen any reviews from any malaysian using it so far. and saw that it has only b/g and no n for WIFI) b) Huawei 5331 (it shows b/g/n capability but not sure its WLAN is actually n) c) ZTE mf60 (saw the manual showing b/g WLAN but compatible with n devices...so it still runs at g WLAN speed). Has anyone tried installing external antenna n does drastically help in signal capture? if so then i cant use the MF190 as it does not have any external port for antenna.... Your opinions on this big mess in my head will really help me and i appreciate any views on this. Thanks MiFi capturing ability is white good but incomparable to stand alone 3G single at stability and consistency. Below is the best solution recommended for you. Get a new 3G modem in this case I recommend Huawei E372 which having one of the best external antenna implementation and a Panel Antenna. Kindly refer to my antenna thread for testimonials and reviews. There was someone same condition as you who use to get less than 100 kbps is able to get 5mbps now. After this, get a 3G router in this case TPLINK MR3420 to share the 3G connection through Wifi or LAN. Feel free to PM me anytime for enquiries Added on December 7, 2012, 2:20 am QUOTE(wkkm007 @ Dec 7 2012, 01:18 AM) I to ask beside Qualcomm, any other 2/3/4G radio chip maker? QUOTE(digilife @ Jan 10 2013, 11:20 PM) same case with one of my simcard He is not using any multisimMaxis Branded E1762 can use Huawei E355 from China cannot use. I believe your simcard can only use on a Maxis Branded Modem rite ? There is one modem which is not maxis branded that can use with this simcard ~ PM me if you wan to test mine when i am in KL In fact at his location the UMTS 2100Mhz is too weak Caused E355 to D/C quite frequently. E1762 is more steady because it is running on UMTS900 After many time get no signal MiFi modem would go to "sleep" mode Too bad E355 can't do those supercharging |

QUOTE(jslut @ Jan 18 2013, 11:52 PM) hi guys, am wondering. i want to get a mifi. i have two choices. Go networking section and search for people selling Maxis plan. There might be better deals one, i get a sim with surf more data plan of 5GB for RM75. then just buy a mifi device. insert the sim and tadaaah! i get constant data throughout the day but only 5GB quota. problem is i have extra cost to buy mifi. or i could just get maxis's wireless broadband 8GB for 68 bucks. prob is it has a peak/non-peak hours and also i'm tied to a 12 moth contract. although at least i don't have the hassle to find seperate mifi.. so what do you guys think? As for your modem, you can always PM me. Anyway, as aeiou228 mentioned, a portable router is better |
