http://www.rockynewsnow.info/ - Its a modified version from NewsNow and concentrate solely for arsenal.. It also filtered out most crap, unreliable stuff from the blogosphere .. And best feature which still chuckled me, renamed some team/ sites to funny names .. that one you will have read yourself, it wont be much of a problem to know the original team anyway if you are an Arsenal's supporter for a while.

or follow good quality arsenal blogs which often have good insight and fan-written articles:
Arseblog ( http://www.oleole.com/blogs/arseblog ) - good old drunken arseblogger who swears at anything that's not arsenal
A Cultured Left Foot ( http://aculturedleftfoot.wordpress.com/ )- decent writeup and opinions
Gunnerblog ( http://gunnerblog.com/ ) - same as above
Goodplaya ( http://goodplaya.com/ )- probably the most accurate player analysis after a match
3rd Gen ( http://www.third-gen.com/ )- pretty good too
Arsenal Insider ( http://www.arsenalinsider.com/ )- very pro-Arsene site, but many good articles to read... great weekly TGIF, but not sure whether they still do it or not

The Emotional Highbury and The Grand Ashburton Grove

Highbury 1913-2006

For the majority of their time in south-east London, Arsenal played at the Manor Ground in Plumstead, a three-year period at the nearby Invicta Ground between 1890 and 1893 excepted. The Manor Ground was initially just a field, but the club installed stands and terracing in time for their first Football League match in September 1893. They played their home games there for the next twenty years (with two exceptions in 189495), until the move to north London in 1913.

Arsenal Stadium, widely referred to as Highbury, was Arsenal's home from September 1913 until May 2006. The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design common to many football grounds in the UK at the time, with a single covered stand and three open-air banks of terracing. In the 1930s, the entire stadium was given a massive overhaul, with new Art Deco West and East stands constructed, opening in 1932 and 1936 respectively; in addition, the North Bank terrace had a roof added, which was later bombed during World War II and not restored until 1956.

At its peak, Highbury could hold over 60,000 spectators, and had a capacity of 57,000 until the early 1990s. The Taylor Report and Premier League regulations forced Arsenal to convert Highbury into an all-seater in time for the 199394 season, reducing the capacity to 38,419 seated spectators. This capacity had to be reduced further during Champions League matches to accommodate additional advertising hoardings, so much so that for two seasons (199899 and 199900) Arsenal played Champions League home matches at Wembley, which could house more than 70,000 spectators.

Final moments - the emotions run high in Highbury

Ashburton Grove 2007-present

Expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a Grade II listed building and the other three stands were close to residential properties. These limitations have prevented the club from maximising the revenue that their domestic form could have brought in recent seasons. After considering various options, in 2000 Arsenal proposed building a new 60,000-seater stadium at Ashburton Grove, since renamed the Emirates Stadium, about 500 metres south-west of Highbury. The project was initially delayed by red tape and rising costs, but construction was completed in July 2006, in time for the start of the 200607 season. The stadium is named after its sponsors, the airline company Emirates, with whom the club signed the largest sponsorship deal in English football history, worth approximately 100 million; however some fans refer to the ground as Ashburton Grove, or the Grove, as they do not agree with corporate sponsorship of stadium names. The stadium will be officially known as Emirates Stadium until at least 2012, and the airline will be the club's shirt sponsor until the end of the 201314 season.

I will add forumer's nick into the list only if they request me to. I mean there are posters who had been posting for a long time but didn't request me to add their nicks so just pm me or bring it to my attention if you want me to add you into the arsenal supporter list, lastly enjoy the thread. biggrin.gif

If Wolves are playing badly they should be conceding, no? tongue.gif . Anyways Frimpong gave away quite a number of stray passes and the loan will definitely do good! laugh.gif

Another Walcott waste, as Arsenal break well and Gervinho finds him on the edge of the box. Extra shooting lessons required. And crossing lessons too.

Fulham is really no pushover team. I'd rate them just as good as Juventus or Valencia in the european circuit. I can see both teams keep exchanging blows at both sides. Fulham has no problem breaking our defence and they always seem to match our speed in terms of attacks and defending. My manly tears goes to our ex-Gunners abang Senderos who is still playing at the top of his games. Happy to see that.

QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Jan 3 2012, 02:21 AM)
Fulham is really no pushover team. I'd rate them just as good as Juventus or Valencia in the european circuit.  I can see both teams keep exchanging blows at both sides. Fulham has no problem breaking our defence and they always seem to match our speed in terms of attacks and defending. My manly tears goes to our ex-Gunners abang Senderos who is still playing at the top of his games. Happy to see that.

yup, before he play for fulham, his confidence down too much, maybe too much pressure when too young play for big team... his got 100+ game for arsenal as far i know...

having only one commentator for the match is really a blessing. Its always irritating to hear when two commentators keep throwing 1 cent remarks about Arsenal. At least with tonight's match, the commentator is being objective and focusing mainly on the plays and the match progress.

Okay, Walcott is subbed out and replaced by Rosicky. He's been on poor form tonight judging from his crosses and passes. Its obvious that he kinda lost his confidence. Nonetheless, this is one player who dons the Gunners jersey, so I'm calling for Gunners supporters to stop name-calling our players. Its not even funny anymore.

Well..I guess Fulham deserved the 3 points now..

LOL to penalty call that "caused" us this game..

Even if its a penalty and we won the game, Fulham is "unlucky" not to win the game..

But that is an "IF"..

Fulham got what the deserve..

should have scored the second goal but again,we waste number of chances.in second half i dont remember we had much chances and fulham were pressuring us to get the equalizer.djorou became the scapegoat and they got us one man down.well planned.

The second yellow was harsh. Zamora went down too easily. Nevertheless, it wasn't a penalty, otherwise we would lose 3-1. Sad night for me.....

Arsenal put on the brakes very early, since the start of the second half. No real chance were made in the second half, and Fulham fully capitalise on that. Fulham deserved it.

he need to come out because both Squid and Coquelin is not that tall to get the ball
today fault is obviously all the player itself + manager

u think 1-0 can win already in this modern day starting from 2008 season all other team can score in the last minute.....
window transfer is open and i expect wenger to do something about it

with gervinho and Chamakh out for International Duties and some injured players.....
lets see how many matches will arsenal lose after this

Walcott was totally awful until the minute he was subbed. Cant cross, cant dribble, cant shoot, what is he doing in the 1st 11?

There's no creativity from Rambo as well while Arteta trying to hard to be a DM.

Djorou is obviously very uncomfortable playing as RB and this game totally a nightmare for him.

Rosicky for Walcott is another awful decision by AW.

Anyway, congratulation to Fulham, they really played far more better than us.

kecewa gua tengok 2nd half punye game, ada ke patut satu serangan pun tak mampu nak buat? kenapa tak simpan bola, setau gua la, pemain arsenal tak selesa jika takda bola... bila takda bola semua kelam kabut... patutnye persie jangan kasi main, kasi rehat aje, pemain lain kene pikul juga, takkan sorang aje kot... 1-0 da mula puas hati, wenger paut push lagi...

wow, where do i even begin. should not have subbed walcott instead should have subbed djourou when he was showing sign of groin injury. i was so frustrated when he did that. although walcott lost a little bit of confidence but he had the speed that threathens riise and djourou was on yellow card anyway.

oh man, we really need eden hazard and hopefully wenger will get a proper center back as well. Metresacker is 6'4 but heads a like a 5'7 and his movement is like a fukken turtle even i can run faster than him (i'm not supposed to).

we have to get a proper DM as well. Arteta can do above average long range pass but can't defend while Song can defend but don't have the consistent long range pass ability.

the left back, coquelan (or something) shows promise. He is ten times better than gibbs and clichy combined when it comes to defending (he even headed more balls away then metresacker) and has appropriate skills to go forward. He just needs to work on his penetrating runs more.

phew... okay la, i better stop my rant or else u'll be reading a wall of text.

Woj costed us tonight, no 2 ways about it. we always know that with young GK, there'll be a time when we will lost point because of him. this morning, is that time

but, the whole team played poorly in the second half. even the boss substitutions also wrong, IMO

and the referee (who apparently a Gooner, yeah right la) was trying too much to please the crowd. Robin did not get 1 decision for him all night while Zamora almost got all the decisions for him. turned down valid penalty claim for us (again) as well

if AW do not buy any kind of player this transfer market
u will see what will happen to Arsenal next

the only way arsenal can get top 4 right now is either all the injured player back and nvr get injure for half of the season or arsenal go buy some back up

even the matched against QPR u all can see how many chance wasted and how closed can QPR score a goal and the matched against Wolves is the biggest proved u all can see..... how many chances wasted

RVP alone is not enough to save arsenal.. we need another player that can score a goal. Both walcott and gervinho is not a goal scoring machine like RVP

Don't blame defensive too much, they were under pressure the whole 2nd half. Midfielder should done better in keeping the possession. Arteta badly needed some rest, he look out of gas 2nd half.

Wait and see.... next match against LEEDS(10 Jan) i cant wait to see who is going to play RB next

now with TV5 injured and Djorou suspended who is going to play in the RB... if squillaci i dont know how many assist he will make in the future for the opponent... lets hope that its either Jenkinson or maybe Sagna to be back soon

i rather see Miquel play RB than Squillaci

If no good signing were made this January, we will see the same scenario every season in February till May happen again. Fighting for 4th place, except that this season we were already fighting for it since November, and looks like were going to lose that place if the current performance is not fixed asap. Our last convincing win was against Wigan, other than that its all heart dropping fixtures which we eventually grabbed the 3 points. The main problem is for now, so many good opportunities are wasted, and that costs us more than a defensive error.

compared to mancity conceded in the final few seconds..we are nothing. We still can back to top 4, and it all depends who we can get from transfer market.

one striker(Podolski) , one winger(Hazard) , one midfielder(Gourcuff or Mario Goetze), one fullback.....

The whole team was not playing well enough to get something out from the game.

Our attacks were too tamed and not driven. Our makeshift defensive arrangement is just too... well, makeshift.

The highlights of the game were how Szczesny made 2 GK mistakes when he had done quite a decent job blocking some good attempts from Fulham. I do not know much about GK but I understand 1. You rush out, you must get the ball or push it out from danger 2. Goal scored through near post = GK fault.

haha, not Djourou fault alone. The whole team switch off during 2nd half, or Fulham just gave their 200%.
Manchester United could easily beat this team 5-0. Why? Because they already killed Fulham during first half with 3 goals lead. Fulham always upped their game after half time break against top tier team. Same thing happen with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham matches. But MU already got 3 goals cushion at that time, while Tottenham able to withstand the assault and got a draw. Arsenal? Not yet, need more unity from attacking to the defense.

p/s: From Soccernet stat, Fulham only have a single shot against MU during 1st half. While 2nd half, they have 15 shots, 5 on target. That show you how Fulham can be scary if you didn't take your chances.

It's disappointing to see Walcott waste plenty of possession. This team badly needed proper fullback. Andre Santos was immerse, he's very attacking minded LB with good left footed cross and not afraid to have sniff at goal. Coquelin did okay yesterday, can't fault him because he's played out of position.

typical brazillian type of fullbacks, attacking minded > defending. Dani Alves, Roberto Carlos, Maicon, Cafu etc. biggrin.gif

what can we say. we deserve to lose to match coz in 2nd half, it seems we totally gave up the midfield and let Fulham midfield dominated us. And we are talking about a midfield of the calibre oof Song, Arteta, Ramsey and Gervinho. Walcott has gain proved that he is consistent, consistently playing badly. Cant totally blamed Djourou, since he got no cover from Walcott. Podolski will be welcome relief, since many teams has seen we are too reliant on RvP, and cutting supply to him was the key issue.

It was just not our day. Hope the players will take some lessons from this and perform better..

the boss did mentioned about getting a fullback in, albeit on loan basis, after the injury to TV5. to be honest, it should not have taken an injury to TV5 to realize that we need fullbacks since our (especially attackin) game suffered since we were forced to play 4 CB across the defense

add on : while i do agree that we push the self destruct button in this match, how bad is Lee Probert? f*ck that, how many consecutive matches already that we had a valid (and clear) penalty claims turned down? IIRC, since the match against the Sheikh's toy we had at least 1 valid penalty claim turned down in every matches

Well, Wayne Bridge is available for loan. And he can also play left midfield. Maybe should also get a creative midfielder, Goetze or Shaqiri..

seriusly cannot accept arsenal lost in the final minute and again with 10 men.

i think tired is not the issue, look at fulham line-up, they also used the same players in midfield ; dembele, dempsey and bryan luiz ( really respected the sprit of this guys) , but they can controlled the mid very well and seems used the same tactic with one striker.

kochelny can be man of the match if he can block zamora shoot. but the thing didnt happen. pity on him.

Fulham got advantage with their experienced manager Martin Jol (ex-Spurs manager) which always know and remember how to defeat arsenal in the 2ND HALF!!!

The main problems lie within ourselves. We're creating ample chances but not putting it away. What's worse is we seem incapable of keeping the ball under pressure. Same thing like against QPR. This two problems need to be ironed out as we are not getting any lucks with referees decisions, outscoring opponents gives us higher chance of winning games. We need more first half goals, then we can control the game easier.

Yeah we just can't seems to kill game away. We need to be absolutely ruthless after scoring the leading goal because it is well known that the defense os prone to collapse during the last few moments. Devastated sad.gif. Podolski Please and also release the Ox.

We dont have very good passer and ball control midfield like cesc anymore, its wiser to stop passing the ball around and play more direct using the advantages of our quick wingers.

To pass around like Barca, they have many ball control master in the likes on Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Messi. All of them have absolute first class touch. Also, they pass in triangle we pass sideways from left to right therefore if we get intercepted, opponent can counter really quick.

Guess we need to switch the strategy a little to cater the current crop of players. Cant wait to see Ox, Park getting their games. Would like to see how they perform. From the couple of games Ox played, he certainly seems more promising than Theo atm. Maybe its due to the confidence Theo is having now. It seems hes getting used to assist RVP instead of taking chances himself which makes him lack of goalscoring instinct.

Djourou. He'll be suspended for FA Cup tie only. I doubt we will get a fullback, Coq is doing OK, Vermaelan should be back for MU game, Gibbs and Sagna due on the end of month. Have to hang on until reinforcement come back from injury.

Yes, it's harder for Arsenal to get a single PK nowadays. Last week 2 clear handballs, yesterday Gervinho clearly tripped by Senderos. According to Graham Poll it doesn't matter whether it look soft or not, as long as there are contact being made.

If you noticed the article that i posted before; feat. Graham Poll, you could sense that there were some kind of animosity between Poll and Neil Warnock. Well, they don't like each other since 2003.

Bobby Zamora clearly on his way down even before Djourou raised his arm. I think Djourou perform really well defensively. While Gervinho denied goal scoring opportunity, got nothing. I agreed with toshio in this matters.

I saw a comic said something about Arsenal..
Where v.Persie got the ball,
he look at left.. thinking "Gervinho cut in and out, he wont shoot"
he look at right.. thinking "Walcott run run and run, run over the line"
then he take the shot himself lor..

People are overrating Ox like they did with Theo when the latter first arrived. Theo's contributions are frequently dismissed but whenever he is absent we often complain about the lack of pace and penetration that he offers. Theo himself must realize that he is still nowhere ready to lead the line like titi out even more recently robin.

Ox has had a few moments of brilliance but I don't think it's fair to say that he is ready to be a regular starter just yet; not when even a seasoned veteran like Ju can't get onto the bench.

Titi's arrival is a boost but is not a long term solution, and it shouldn't be a reason not to buy someone during this transfer window, not when Gervy is going to be absent for ANC soon. I still don't think we will revert to 442 even with titi's truth since we've never played an orthodox 442 in the past. If Posolski's going to be available for the reported 10 to 12 million in jan then it'd be foolish not to at least attempt to buy him.

Nevertheless, there was a report about lukas not wanting to leave germany as to not jeopardize his chances of playing for the germany NT... That alone might deter le boss from actually going for him in jan and prefer top wait till summer instead.

Either way, given our injury list at the backline and our inefficiency upfront, reinforcements in jan its something that is more of a necessity than a luxury.

Come to think of it, last summer many of us fans were screaming at Wenger to get Downing when we were linked with him. Some even said Charlie Adam would be a good buy since he was available! Now at least we can wake up and realize that when Le Boss doesn't want a player, just shut it and stop behaving based on PES2012/FIFA12 stats...

Me: i think they got the question wrong, they should rephrase it to be, where would Arsenal be, if they were to have a fit RvP over the past 2-3 seasons.

anyways, FM mode on
if Mission Podolski fail,
i like Demba Ba, sign him!

Guys, don't expect signing. We have already hit the 17 players limit for non-homegrown player.

Non-homegrown (17) : Almunia, Fabianski, Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Santos, Squillaci, Diaby, Rosicky, Arteta, Arshavin, Benayoun, Park, RVP, Gervinho, Chamakh

Homegrown (7) : Szczesny, Mannone, Gibbs, Djourou, Ramsey, Song, Walcott

Under 21 : Jenkinson, Wilshere, Coquelin, AOC, Miyaichi

Vermaelen is great player. But in my opinion this season, Koscielny has surpassed him as Arsenal most reliable CB. He doesn't over commit himself and off positioning like Vermaelen tend to do once in a while. He's calm, read opponent movement before commit himself to the challenge. Probably one of best CB in the league, hopefully he continue his on form performance until the end of the season.

you guys rely too much on rvp/tv5, i mean look what happen last season when they injured, and against fulham, without tv5 the defense were just rclxub.gif

+1 often our most reliable and consistent player rarely gets the spotlight. Example such as Koschielny and Sagna where they perform some of the most consistent plays I've ever seen since last season till now.

Goes to show that managers have certain talent in identifying player's potential if they were to be given a different position. I hate to admit this also, but Pep Guardiola is smart to put Fabregas not on his original position like he was with Arsenal. Nonetheless, I am happy Fabregas has been very successful after leaving us for Barcelona. I remember in his contrat clause that Arsenal will earn more bucks depending on Barcelona's achievement with Fabregas.

Cesc is good in making his runs because he is a passer, he knows where a passer will pass and esp the barca dna in him (dam i hate to mention this).

In Barca, the passing can leave it to messi, xavi and iniesta (dam so many good passer... ) so he had to play the false 9 position which i think he fits in really really well.

Whether Fabregas is a hate figure or not, it's hard to judge.

At very least, he's now in Barca which is one of our bitter rivals in UCL, therefore, I do not like it.

re : our ex #4

i do not think it's a case of hard to judge at all bro Kimhoong. like for me, it is very easy for me to say that the Catalan boy is a traitor because that is truly how I felt and I have my own reason and justification for that. I'm very sure some (or maybe a lot) Gooners in here disagree with that and with their own justification. so for me, it's more towards 'each to their own' kind of issue

re : the sale

damn the replica kit is not on sale yet. I purposely did not buy them earlier in the season due to expecting a sale starting this month

I always respect individual's opinion, whether it's good or bad.

This time on Fabregas, I'm more towards to hating him tongue.gif For me, Barca is always his target and Arsenal was as if his stepping stone or caretaker before leaping to Barca. Some may argue that Barca is his childhood club blah blah blah... but for me, you are committed to the club you sign with and his situation, it was him wanting to go to Barca rather than Arsenal wanting to sell him.

Yeah, it's too late to discuss on this but it's just for the sake of foruming biggrin.gif

imo fab is not a traitor and never near that at all. Compared him with others who left us such as Ashley Cole, Nasri, Adebayor... He is far from them. He is our best player, best midfielder in EPL ( that Lampard and Gerrard is not even in his league). He wanted to leave us many seasons ago. This is what I think is those spanish symptoms. Once they got enough, they will surely want to go back to their own country. So yea, he had have enough of England after 8 years and he wanted to go back to his own home. Moreover, his broke up with his long term gf made him even want to get back to his family more than ever. And needless to say, his old friends from Barca.

so he was just homesick to me. Nothing to do with loyalty. But of course he opened up his options to all clubs, we can easily sold him to Real Madrid for 70m GBP. user posted image

i agreed with liez.compare him with cole, adebayor or even nasri,he is too far from being a traitor.he already did the best he could during the time with us.iinm, last two seasons ago we already knew he would leave us come next summer (which means, last summer) if we couldn't win anything.he didn't left us for money.it's just his time with the club has ended and he need to move on or should i say move back to his hometown.

the arsenal direct sale already on since last month.but not for the replica kit though.maybe they're waiting for henry's signing to earn extra income.LOL

Dunno why? Kinda think that since the rumor of singning Henry, the whole thing seems to me like a shirt selling program. A legend in the 125th Arsenal years. Better if he can play in Champions league, even more jersey sale. laugh.gif But thats just what it looks like la. In deep we know he can more or less contribute if not directly then indirectly to the forwards of our clubs.

Anyway since EPL january transfer widows is gonna open in . /fm/ mode on.

-Arsenal should sign Alexandre Pato for £20mil, to cover gervinho's temporary departure to African cup.

-Lukas Podolski should come to us too to share some van Persie's burden.

-Sign Demba ba!!! He is teh goal scoring machine!!! Sign him before his price hike again!!! icon_idea.gif

-Since fab's departure, we don't have some real AM. So signing both Eden Hazard and Mario Gotze will be essential to have a good midfield for launching attacks.

If we signed everyone above... this will be our team.

1st team:-

---------------- Szczesny------------------

Sagna--- Koscielny--- Vermaelen--- Santos

-----Gotze---- Song------ Hazard------------

---Walcott---- Van Persie© -------- gervinho---

2nd team:-

---------------- Fabianski---------------------

Jenkinson--- Mertesacker-- Miquel-- Gibbs

---- Alex Ox---- Coqueline------ Arteta---------

------- Pato----- Demba ba©------- Podolski---

Reservations:-

1) Ryo Miyaichi
2) Park Chu Yong
3) Benayoun
4) Arshavin
5) Ramsey

I dun see Ramsey and Arteta will be sidelined. Both are the core of our midfield for now until at least the return of Wilshere. And Coquelin is our new Eboue the utility player.

damn missing 03/04 season. we were just like a no fear team. only teams scared of us. unlike now, we scare of playing mc, manu, chelsea, and even spurs, not to mention teams like fulham, blackburn..etc.

do you guys really rate suarez (luiz that is) that highly? i figure he's skillful, and he's a handful to handle, but he isn't clinical enough. personally, i would imagine gervinho and suarez are about the same in terms of finishing.

looking at goals scored this season in the EPL, suarez has 5 goals vs gervinho's 4 goals. i'd rather get henry on loan. =)

Luiz Suarez... Scored some important goals for Liverpool when they needed them last season, but does he offer the same kind of impact as Torres did when the latter first arrived? No. Same goes with Andy Carroll.

Gervy is a different kind of player being used in a different manner. Right now he offers us something that our recent teams haven't been able to provide, i.e. directness in his play and penetration. His inefficient finishing is indeed frustrating, but as long as he keeps getting into the correct positions he'll get chances and eventually he'll put them away. Remember the time when Bendtner was ridiculed for not scoring despite having 5, 6 chances in one game? He grabbed a hattrick in the next match.

Speaking of Bendtner... He's getting into a lot of trouble and we all know how intolerant le Boss is to mischievous players. The chances of him returning to Arsenal is getting slimmer by the minute and if he keeps this shit up he'll find it hard even at other clubs. He's still better than Chamakh who can't score and Park who can't even get a freaking game to be honest.

The jury is still out on Titi's loan deal. I'm not having any kind of expectations on him really, but if he could do what Henrik Larsson did for MU some time ago that'd be swell.

i pretty much agree with all your points. the point i was trying to make was why arsenal would want suarez (whose finishing ratio is similar to gervy. i'm just taking it at face value of what i've seen of them and the current season's stats) when a clinical finisher ala torres at liverpool and henry for arsenal in his prime is what we need to relieve some of that humongous burden that RvP currently carries. as for the henry loan deal, it'll be good i'd imagine, if only to lift the players' spirits at the very least. if he can be our henrik larrson for MU, that would be best 2 month loan deal ever for arsenal. =)

Juz to highlight here, Matias is no small fries, he is calm, have some skills and can score goals from a distance like Rosicky during his prime. current Europa league's season top scorer, scored in 5 out of 6 matches including a hat-trick against AEK Athens and 2 each to different matches of lokomotiv moscow, stum graz. Question as to why didn't he get into the national team. Well, the argentine's got Aguero, Messi, Tevez, Higuain, Milito, Pastore, Angel Mario.. Not easy to get in. But that benefit us nicely if he can play. nod.gif

On the other Suarez, yea he is good and its a bonus if we got him but Liverpool needs him more than us since we got Gervinho. And yea, one thing Gervinho offered us the most is his penetration into opponent's back line. Something hard for us to do since the departure of Fabregas (some said Nasri too but that guy is kinda inconsistent, can penetrate for 3 matches and become small fries for next 5 matches). Can see from his work rate, kept on running the ball forward, bringing it forward by means of crossing or dribbling through instead of saw a giant obstructions then 'back pass'. so yea, Gervinho is someone we needed most and came at the right time. Someone we didn't expect to see after the endless talks of Mario Gotze and Eden Hazard. But we should appreciate his arrival and again Professor AW showed us how good he is at his job. Though dunno for wad he brought PCY and Mertesacker. They both aren't really functioning coz Arsenal played offside trap, high line defense, need someone fast enough to trace pacey forwards, Per himself must have some regrets leaving his clubs to us. meanwhile, that Park didn't get any games and will be saying " annyeonghi gyeseyo" 2 years later.

Sky Sports sources understand Thierry Henry has completed his loan return to Arsenal and will be eligible to face Leeds United in the FA Cup on Monday.

I could not say no to arsenal

QUOTE
user posted image

Thierry Henry admits that his enduring love for Arsenal made it impossible for him to say no to the Club when a return move was proposed.

The French striker - who scored 226 goals in 370 appearances during his first spell with the Gunners - sealed a short-term loan deal on Friday.

It comes just a few weeks after a statue of Henry was unveiled outside Emirates Stadium as part of the Club’s 125th anniversary celebrations, and the man himself admits is strange to be an Arsenal player once again.

"It's kind of unreal because you are talking about a statue and here I am now a few weeks later playing for Arsenal,” Henry told Arsenal Player.

“It wasn't planned. You can ask the boss, he said it himself - he was thinking about it but he didn't talk to me and then it happened pretty fast.

“Arsenal and me has always been a love story, with some bad days. Hopefully people agree with me that there were more good days than bad, but I just love the Club.”

Henry admits that he cannot wait to pull on the red-and-white shirt once again and is excited about the opportunity to continue his “love story” with the Club.

"For me being able to come here and train, being in the dressing room and seeing all the training staff, I have no words to describe it. To wear the jersey one more time, I can only be honoured,” he said.

“People might think I am just saying that, but when I left this Club I cried and I cried for the statue. I haven't cried a lot in my career, but when I do it seems that something is happening with Arsenal.

“In my time here I always tried to be honest, and I think the fans can see that. When I am happy, I am happy and when I am not they can see it too.

“They say love is blind, but it is difficult for me to say no to Arsenal.”

Per is a decent purchase. I don't think he has done too badly, and yes even though he has made a few mistakes that led to goals being conceded, but didn't Kos do the same thing as well? And look at how good Kos is today. If you had to choose between a veteran for the German national team, or an overhyped English defender whose club was too optimistic about his price tag, it's a no-brainer decision.

Ju on the other hand is an enigma. No judgement can be made given his lack of appearances and until he gets a regular run of games we shall never know the impact he could bring. I understand that most players that Arsene buys need a certain amount of settling in, but is there any striker in the world that is likely to come and displace Robin in his false 9 position? Apart from Messi, I doubt it. Maybe this is why Lukas Podolski might have some reservations about coming, if he is thinking about it to begin with. But if he does come, he's going to compete with Gervy on the wings rather than anything else.

Per is not a bad defender. But we need not a good defender but a good defender that can fit into our system, but cna admit le, at that time was really urgent so AW was choosing someone with experience. Maybe I can be wrong when he slowly gets improvements of his physicality and help the team as can be seen in December conceding only 3 goal in 6 games.

In the recent games,I think Per is not a bad defender at all. He was quite solid at the back with his dived tackles and blocks. Almost scored a goal as well against wolves. He is indeed slow but give him some time, he will adapt himself with the pace of the game.

BTW, Marco Reus joined Dortmund.
Now I'm really jealous at the amount of young and talented players in Dortmund.

instead of reporting Henry back to Arsenal in the Stars newspaper front page, they prefer to troll ManU with the 6-1 scoreline lol

No big names wants to come to Arsenal. They rather go to other clubs. So the only one that's willing to come to Arsenal is a former Arsenal player himself, lol. If like this, Wenger might as well bring back Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp.........etc. That way we can revive those glory days.

Anyway welcome back Henry.

We'll need a time machine then.

However, it's true that without trophies the attraction of our club does become less especially when we are unable to offer astronomical wages like some other teams can. Juan Mata is probably the best example - hijacked by Chelsea with a promise of better wages and higher possibility of winning something. Imagine the benefits we would have reaped had he joined us in summer.

This season, referee is really rubbish. Look at Kompany red card. He won the ball, nothing dangerous whatsoever. And Arsenal never got penalty for clear trip and handball.

I think no matter how dangerous a tackle is a two-footed challenge warrants a red card.

Referee has big decision to make. Kompany went two footed, won the ball didn't make contact with Nani (or less). He could warned or yellow carded the offender but he brandished red card instead. Too strict perhaps? Maybe according to the book it's correct, but seems very soft one and potentially spoiled the match. Happen few times already before this, tough time for defender. And my opinion has nothing to do with Manchester United, i love to watch they play their football. It's the ref that i wanted to point out.

Look at Foy, under pressure from the crowd.

Really bad. Slow down the tempo. With 10 man, and Mancini subbed out Silva for Zabaleta he was supposed to be the focal point in the midfield, but instead he kept making lazy passes and lose possession. I went to Man City UK forum yesterday, in their opinion (most of them) agreed that Nasri didn't worth that 24 million price tag. For a man that has been featured regularly in EPL to perform like this. Thus, some of them said he come for the paycheck. And some of them suggested that Arsene Wenger make him look good than he actually is (sorry for bad grammar).

Red card, penalty, 11 vs 10 men. Always got the feeling that the ref side MU. Or lucky charm at their side.. Anyway, MC did a good fight back.

Really admire City's effort, but their wide areas were totally overrun by United, that part United got it right. Dammit that would have been a cracking game has it finished 11 vs 11.

Why is maradona in there?

btw, it took 7 yellow cards for espanyol to draw with Barca just now morning.

and the 1st goal for real madrid's latest game like playing aerobic. good back pass. mourinho looks like the coolest manager in the world, SAF, AW, AVB all will cheer the team when their team scored but Mourinho just sat down there look so serious like his brain did not stop analyzing the match. so serious.
