Dear all sifu in LYN,

I was planning to start off my own business which is cyber cafe and mainly will maintain by my wife... May i know what's the steps i need to do first?

as i do some research i don't know is it correct or not.

1st) Look for a shop for rent
2nd) Register a license with malaysia (How much will it cost for cyber cafe license?)

and lastly i need how much to spend on it? and what bank is good for recommendation for loan? i need to get a bank with low interest so that i wont have hard to do repayment.

1. No license, you cant do it. Some of local town council froze cc license. You need to buy over existing ones. So please refer to your local council.

2. No bank loan available for new business nor for cc business. You need to apply personal loan (which i think it wont be sufficient).

3. What prompts you to open a cc? Is CC a good business?

and as hard as it may sound to u, her biz fall within a year. opening a CC now is a competition as u need to provide services which other CC out there can't. example: besides gaming, do printing/scanning service etc etc.

p/s: if u wan, i can discuss with u bout the ideas what could be done as I did it last year for my Diploma project.

2nd) Register a license with malaysia (How much will it cost for cyber cafe license?)

You have to largely contact the local representative of the Intellectual property over here, mostly publishers and/or distributors to secure licensing rights. They will likely send their agent to check your operation.

Also have you even considered how you will run your cafe? (events, tournaments, organizing, services, etc.)

seems like the figure more or less with what im calculating now, but in Penang i believe rental on a nice spot will be more then that sad.gif btw electricity can be only 1500? last time the CC i worked the bill is more then 3K and that also the modified the TNB powerpoint.

it would be nice if u can share with me, but now im try to do as much research as i can before starting up because 60k is a quite large amount for me which i need to work at least 2 years and everyday eat roti just can have the money.

what in my mind the CC must be CLEAN, environment friendly, have a bigger space gap between each pc, a room mainly to host tournament or event etc, smoking room for smokers, maybe a cafe inside of it so it would convenience the player.

Penang?! seems like a hassle to discuss further. well, if so happens u come down to KL, i'll share with you my college proposal and perhaps u can take a look. besides, there's a biz i'm doing which u can take a look at which might generate your RM60k faster than 2years w/out having to eat roti canai everyday.

do keep in touch if your serious with your business plan. take care!! =)

Most important to know which area got crowd. If you are aiming for teenager, make sure there are abundance of them in that area. Look for housing areas, schools and mamak stall in the vicinity do helps a lot.

uberific,

As far as I know, you can't change municipality. If you bought a MPSJ license, you can only operate it in Subang.

Hi, this is my past experience for running a cyber cafe:
1. Which location u choose? Cause most of the stage government won't approve the business license for cyber cafe; we only can apply for signboard license (lesen Papan iklan by DBKL). So u will get the trouble almost every month when they checking.

2. Cost for PC (CPU + Monitor) around RM2300 ~ RM2500

3. Fixed cost like electricity and wages must control well. Especially electricity bill will shock u....if you are running 24hrs...

4. Renovation cost and rental deposit based on your capacity....

5. My experience is, if you really want to attract people's, at least 100 PCs is necessary... So total cost is around RM350,000 ~ RM500,000

6. Last is the gaming license. The most costly is the SMM, which is license for Dota...it can cost u few thousand per month, depend how u neogotiate with the marketing ppls...

Good luck tongue.gif

Bro, you are right! Actually they have no right to collect money Fromm cc, as long as you got the Original frozen throne for every pc in cc. BUT, they still say they are legal to collect it, if you didn't pay, they will come to take your pc. This also reported in media. In Malaysia, some of the cc also no pay, so depend how dare you are and can you afford the trouble or not~~~ his is my experience when I running cc business....

Derek, to be honest, cc license is very hard to apply nowsaday. Some they say no more license issue in the future. Then the monthly gaming license, SMM is the highest fees among all the gaming license....

Hope this little tips will help~~ thumbup.gif

last time i got 1 unit CC license to sell, but expired duno still can renew or not.

---------------------

Don't start a CC bro, I saw a CC owner, running his business with hardworking, in the 1st 2~3 year, he still can expand his shop, rent 1 more shop beside, after renovate more beautiful and put some bigger screen LCD PC, still using crap pc. After few years until now, all computer never upgrade, all using 512Mb ram (still can run Dota but....), staff service also like shxx, worse & more worse, so i never go that cc again .

Last few days i got passby that area, i saw the CC owner drive a BMW, The both shop mezzanine floor (his cc upstair) lastime used to be storeroom or what i forgot, have became slot machine shop.

U get what i mean ?

if rewind 5-10 years back you will make alot from cybercafe
but now ?
are you sure? unless your place you the only one who opens cybercafe
dont get me wrong cause i have friend who is running cybercafe business for the past 7 years as well
Business good, every month turnover in profit rm30k after deducting everything and he is running 50 pc's

But then thats only last for the 1st 4 years, after that business starting to slow down.
Customer = have pc at home so dun go to cc often
New cc opened nearby,if 1 ok,if 3 open at 1 time?
how much max u can go per hour? reasonable rate is rm2 per hour, some cc offering rm1 per hour...+drink, +print
If really hot ur area like ss15 for ftz asia, even look at the surrounding early 2005 alot of cybercafes around there with alot of patrons...but now ? mostly closed down rite?

Lack of multiplayer games out there, whats avaiable? DOta? DOta 2 ? CS?
all outdated bro, only Dota 2 is new..others? At least 7years+, do you think people will start to play again? Long hour gaming? hard mang..mostly have computers at home...but if u wanna giv it a try then why not
but its not as profitable as before
=)

TS, try to get your cc near a college, e.g. Taman Connaught area (Near UCSI, no don't open there, we've got more than enough nice CCs already)

make sure they have very nice chairs, have very popular internet connection (Unifi, and should state in front of the glass entrance)

must have contract with flying spaghetti monster (so that your customers can get perks and a better reason to go to your CC) (for games like League of Legends, etc.)

or Asiasoft (for MapleStory, etc.)

I'm not sure about the CC management system, most CCs i go to these days have the same managing system, i mean the games and entertainment menu, etc. just not sure what you call it, I forgot.

take examples from FTZ, Orange, Coolge, Tbun etc. smile.gif

Opportunity to open a FREE Cosway Farmasi Store and be your OWN BOSS!

If you’re interested to open a franchise business in Malaysia, but am put off by the often exorbitant franchising fees, this Cosway Free Store concept would appeal highly to you. You don’t need to worry about how many years before you’ll break even or worry about the risk often associated with investing a large sum of money in a physical retail pharmacy store.

All you need is RM100 for registration as business owner + RM5,000 for one-time capital, of which in return, you’ll even get back RM5,000 worth of Cosway products (equivalent to 1,000 eV).

To operate your own eCosway store worth RM1 million, all you need is STORE OPERATOR to operate and manage the shop. Everything else including a complete shop with stock will be provided to you FREE! No hidden costs and training will be provided by Cosway!

I myself am a professional working employee who is looking to achieve better income and venture into entrepreneurship by opening a Cosway Pharmacy store. If you share my vision and dreams, and this business plan applies to you, AND you are keen to understand more about this amazing Free Cosway Pharmacy Store concept, please feel free to send in your enquiries to me at lllimjoey@gmail.com or PM me (Joey).

Act fast to achieve your dream and to earn your desired income!

1xx plus PC , fri sat sun - almost full house (package 3hour only RM6)
not sure this business is profitable or money laundry

I think the licensing for the games is expensive, i pay a visit to a cc before .. they use pendrive to install dota so they can avoid the fees :swt:

Can someone here with experience list down everything that is needed to start an internet cafe? Just want to know the flow, capital does not matter but if you have the info, please share :-)
1. Like all the required licenses.
2. All procedures.
3. How to get them.

Do you think cyber cafe bussines has huge profit margin nowadays, unless operated as second or third bussines? But I believe it is still thriving at certain areas, especially closer to IPT, students living community areas and operating 24 hours, serve with packages. Those are my opinions and I don't experience regarding the bussines.
