Dear all sifu in LYN,

I was planning to start off my own business which is cyber cafe and mainly will maintain by my wife... May i know what's the steps i need to do first?

as i do some research i don't know is it correct or not.

1st) Look for a shop for rent
2nd) Register a license with malaysia (How much will it cost for cyber cafe license?)

and lastly i need how much to spend on it? and what bank is good for recommendation for loan? i need to get a bank with low interest so that i wont have hard to do repayment.

your advice is much appreciated.

P/S: Mod if i post in wrong forum please move it behalf of me... because i not sure this thread should belong here or hardware.

remember to pay Sendi mutiara 20k a month(depends on the no of pc) if you want to use dota in your CC...
*
20k per month for how many pc? btw i plan to appoint a company who mainly setup CC such as game server, cashier and etc.

How much money do you have before even consider this business?
*
my mind capital is 50k for loan plus my own saving bout <20k but wondering is there any bank can approve PL for so much figure.

1. No license, you cant do it. Some of local town council froze cc license. You need to buy over existing ones. So please refer to your local council.

2. No bank loan available for new business nor for cc business. You need to apply personal loan (which i think it wont be sufficient).

3. What prompts you to open a cc? Is CC a good business?
*
well all the while my interest is in CC and i work before in CC, i know nowadays CC is hard to survive as there is alot new and old CC establish more then years and they have their regular. so what i my mind is do something different from outside CC which i hope it able to catch more visitor.

Simple...calculate it

OPENING
Shop rental - RM 1,500
Shop Deposit (3+1) - RM 6,000 ( 3 months rental + 1 month rental for utility deposit)
PC's x 20 (RM 2000/unit) - RM 40,000
Tables & Chairs x 20 (RM 250/set) - RM 5,000
Original Games x 20 (Rm 200/pc) - RM 4,000
Smart Timing System (linking PC's) - RM 5,000
Local Authority (LA) Permit/License - RM 1,000 (maybe i dont know, just put first)

TOTAL OPENING COST = RM 62,500
MONTHLY
Shop rental - RM 6,000
Cashier - RM 700
Electricity - RM 1,500
Water - RM 300
Servicing PC's x 20 (RM 50/pc)- RM 1,000 ( to maintain the cleanliness and operational; long lasting) [may be per 3 months]
Others - RM 1,000 (Printing, faxes, phone bill, internet)

TOTAL MONTHLY OPERATION COST = RM 10,500
*
seems like the figure more or less with what im calculating now, but in Penang i believe rental on a nice spot will be more then that sad.gif btw electricity can be only 1500? last time the CC i worked the bill is more then 3K and that also the modified the TNB powerpoint.

i know someone who started CC biz..total up everything she said RM60k.
and as hard as it may sound to u, her biz fall within a year. opening a CC now is a competition as u need to provide services which other CC out there can't. example: besides gaming, do printing/scanning service etc etc.

p/s: if u wan, i can  discuss with u bout the ideas what could be done as I did it last year for my Diploma project.
*
it would be nice if u can share with me, but now im try to do as much research as i can before starting up because 60k is a quite large amount for me which i need to work at least 2 years and everyday eat roti just can have the money.

2nd) Register a license with malaysia (How much will it cost for cyber cafe license?)

You have to largely contact the local representative of the Intellectual property over here, mostly publishers and/or distributors to secure licensing rights. They will likely send their agent to check your operation.

Also have you even considered how you will run your cafe? (events, tournaments, organizing, services, etc.)
*
what in my mind the CC must be CLEAN, environment friendly, have a bigger space gap between each pc, a room mainly to host tournament or event etc, smoking room for smokers, maybe a cafe inside of it so it would convenience the player.

Penang?! seems like a  hassle to discuss further. well, if so happens u come down to KL, i'll share with you my college proposal and perhaps u can take a look. besides, there's a biz i'm doing which u can take a look at which might generate your RM60k faster than 2years w/out having to eat roti canai everyday.

do keep in touch if your serious with your business plan. take care!! =)

sure thanks bro... now im still struggling to save some backup money and make some research first before take the first steps, your advise is much appreciated. will contact u when im into it smile.gif

Most important to know which area got crowd. If you are aiming for teenager, make sure there are abundance of them in that area. Look for housing areas, schools and mamak stall in the vicinity do helps a lot.
