K5 sales is virtually a dead fish. Tats why SD is still trying top figure out the best price for Elantra.
Do you have actual sales data or is this based on just heresay?

The length of Accord is more than 4.8m, which is about 30cm longer than Elantra. So the body is actually much bigger than Elantra smile.gif
N i think 80k is quite a bargain if the condition is real good rclxms.gif
The overall length for the Accord is 4950mm while the wheelbase is 2800mm. If u wanna know about interior space then you should look at the wheelbase figures to get an idea. The Accord is the biggest D segment in its class and so far its closest competitor is the Kia Optima with 4845mm overall length and 2795 wheelbase.

Am new member and this is my 1st post. Not very good in car but would like to share and learn.

I am driving a 2005 Accord 2.0A bought last year at RM80k. Now i want to sell it becos i find it too bulky for me (i wsa previously driving Vios), but i like its stablebility and power of a 2000cc car.
I am looking for a car that is 'powerful, not too bulky, but must provide stable ride'. And i am/was/been considering Elantra,Mazda6(2.5), Slyphy.

Not many choices in market now, i would actually prefer Honda/Toyota (you know la, cos of resale value. i been experience this with my Hyunday Getz bought 2004 in RM60k and sold in 2007+ for RM22, lost almost RM40k or >60% in less than 4yrs), but now H&T not good choices, Civic/Altis so old model already and new Civic so urgly etc.

So i am very anxious on this new Elantra now. I am interested in 1.8 Premium, but i also scare the depreciation i been experience in my Getz previously sad.gif . My Vios i bought RM75k in yr2005, after drive 6yrs still can sell RM45k, only 40% depreciation after 6 yrs, compared to Gets lost >60% in <4yrs.
Mazda6 is old tech. New model due for launch this year. As for Sylphy, i really cannot understand how Nissan could come up with a car that ugly on the inside. The dashboard has gotta be the worst in its class. Specs are poor too and the whole car just looks so outdated. It may have alot of interior space and its comfortable to drive but besides that its crap (IMO).

If u want a decent car then look at the Kia Optima. U cant compare the previous Korean makes with the current models. Hyundai/Kia have undergone a total revamp in the design dept. They are now enjoying almost 100% increase in sales. Just take a look at the Kia Forte. Its resale value is the best among the Korean makes and its doing well. PLus the KOreans are now known for giving excellent specs only commonly found in certain high value makes. The Optima for instance has much better specs than the Camry, Accord, Teana and VW Passat 1.8TSI and its still the cheapest of the lot.

friend...  Ur this post are very effectively write me off from the Accord ...  sweat.gif sweat.gif  I own Vios n considering the Akod n Elantra now.. sweat.gif
yes.. I like the stability/comfy of the Akod..
Dont forget to take into account the additional maintenance cost with Honda. You need to service every 5,000 km even though u use fully synthetic engine oil. Plus Honda is very particular about the warranties. At least Toyota still has alot of leeway.

so geng?  every 5000km have to change fully syn oil??  siapa cakap?  I dont k about the warranty in my case for the Honda.. is a 2nd hand car mang...
Im refering to new cars. Honda's service interval is 5000km regardless of the type of engine oil used. So far i dont know of any other manufacturer stipulating a service interval of 5K for petrol engines. This is how Honda earns extra money from servicing.

u guys know when Toyota switch to 10k km service interval?  when the Avanza booming time and their SC cannot cope with overhelming of cars going to service..  rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
Not sure bout that but the 10K service was in place in 2003 itself.

Some forumer suggested Kia Optima to me, thanks. i saw that car, also find it a bit 'too big' for me. Is there a car with:

1) C-segment-SIZE
2)  power like 2.0-2.5L
3) provide very stable ride on highway

So far i can only think of Mazda 6 2.5 (compact, big like Accord/Optima), power and stable. Would appreciate if someone can share. Budget RM1xxK.
How much smaller is the Mazda6 compared to the Optima? Both are D segment cars la. First u say u want big segment car and now u saying u dont want a big car. Make up yor mind.

Even Proton Saga can easily speed up to 140, nothing special.
Most car can do more than that, the thing is whether you sayang your engine or dare or not only.  brows.gif
Going fast doesnt damage the engine la as long as you stay within 5000 RPM. This is old school thinking. Just like ppl who think that cars who are only used for town driving are in better condition that cars used for long distance highway travel. Gunning your car at higher speeds (i dont mean doing 200kmh daily) actually improves your internal engine combustion. But if you practice fast acceleration as compared to gradual/smooth pickup in speed, then your engine/transmission aint gonna last long. But always ensure that you service and maintain your car engine well. If ure using fully synthetic oil then driving at high speeds (160-180kmph) is quite alright as long as your RPM doesnt cross 5000.

The 408 design is out. The 508 is much better. At least it looks elegant (except maybe for the rear) but the 408 is just a better version of the 207 sedan.

You must remember that most people who buys Camry/Accord/Optima/Mazda 6 are 'Ah Peks' or people with 'Ah Pek' taste. Mazda6 is too sporty for them i guess.
I think this is a silly & over-generalised statement. Many ppl i know who drive these D segment cars are middle management corp faces. You may get some of your 'ah peks' driving but thats only because they have sufficient income to afford. But to generalise and say that most of them are such is an understatement.

Lets leave such statements out of these discussions and lets keep our threads as mature as we can.

Chill man. We all know youngman usually drive myvi saga and successful man drives camry and altis. We dont born yestersay.

And you havent got a d segment car right? Whats the rage?

And yes. Accord or 407 handles pretty well. So? Who wanna race anyway.
I think you dont understand what he meant. Its nothing about who owns what. Its about the other guy's statement which is silly and surely unwanted on this thread. If he wasnt born yesterday then he should have have refrained from making such 'yesterday' statements right?

Lets get back to cars.

they fucuk me like hell vmad.gif ..lolz..

seen that most of older generation in thier mind only T and H or conti car... doh.gif
dunno why!!

i try explain nowday how korean car is better and better..but they never listen.. rclxub.gif
Do you really blame them? Ive said this many times before. This problem is due to the KOREANS themselves. Dont blame anybody else. Its only NOW that the Koreans are giving quality products. But do you expect 20 years of bad experience to disappear because of just 2 years of good ones?

Re-education and rebranding will take years. Dont expect major changes in mentality overnight. But most importantly, dont blame the consumers. If you wanna blame anybody then blame the Koreans themselves.

How much do you think the new Civic 2012 will be? If it is not too far off from RM108,999  tongue.gif new civic might be better bet.  hmm.gif

Elantra has better exterior look + hosts of gadgets

New Civic win in interior (not sure of any gadget to throw in)

Engine and performance wise, don't know yet, need Paul Tan to do a race to compare  brows.gif
New Civic is crap. Thats why they already planning a facelift for the new Civic this year. As i mentioned on the Civic forum, hopefully Malaysians wont be stupid to buy the 2012 Civic (pre-facelift). The drop in resale value for this model will be more once the facelift is launched. The 2012 Civic has obtained very poor reviews worldwide due to the poor design and drop in quality and handling.

To hell with the waiting, I guess it's time I consider something else since the price may not be attractive after all. I'm seriously considering the below cars, anyone care to share some thoughts?

1. Ford Fiesta - Test drived, not bad...  nod.gif but I'm really worried with the after sales issue...   sweat.gif (Entitled to Staff discount RM4,000 + car loan Interest subsidy)
2. Kia Forte - No promotion but I still find it worth the penny   thumbup.gif
3. Peug 308T - Fell in love with it the moment I step on the peddle...  wub.gif really enjoy driving it! But I share the same concern like Ford Fiesta..  sad.gif  (Offered with Overtrade RM10,000 but still expensive la...)
4. Or cont to wait for Elentra...  wink.gif  (Entitled to Staff discount RM4,000 + car loan Interest subsidy)

My budget is only up to RM90,000. Now if u were me, which one would u go for, and why?  unsure.gif

Thanks all sifu in advance!
For the Elantra, the best would be the high spec 1.8L. I wouldnt go for anything else. But since your budget is only RM90K, then the next best would be the Forte. But if i were you, i would spend a bit more and take the Forte 2.0. Better specs and more efficient fuel consumption. The 1.6L is too sluggish for my liking. Forte's resale value is surely much better than the other 2.

Guys, im not expecting the Elantra to be launched this month. Just observe that Fludic guy. He rarely comes online now. If it was launching in a few days time, trust me he would be here ramping up the heat. So patiently wait la.

Yes I just came back fr SC. My front suspension kong within 3 yrs. luckily got warrant. If not another 800+. At least Hyundai giving 5 yrs war. Can T & H do it? They can't bcoz not confident with their car quality
Audi offers 2 or 3 yr warraty as well. So Audi also not confident with their car quality? If 10 units of the brand new Ferrari 458 Italias can catch fire in 2010, does it also mean Ferrari's quality not good also? Common la!

My Toyota Vios shock absorbers lasted 8 years. Thats the only major part i replaced in the past 8 years. Everything else still original and lasting. Your car may be a dud model as with many other manufacturers. Toyota's quality is still considered much better compared to many other car manufacturers although their standards may have dropped a little over the years.
