A lot of case study show that there almost no significant different of safety using DRL or not in bright country like USA, Mexico or Msia.
The safety benefit produced by DRLs in relatively dark Nordic countries like Norway, Finland, Russia, Canada or some Europe countries are more significant.

Somemore DRL will increased fuel consumption up to 5% than normal. & of course DRL systems will increase CO2 emissions as it get power from engine.

Do we really need DRL? Hm..
*
Err, even the most powerful OEM DRLs use around 5-6W per side. That's totally insignificant lol. Just ask yourself, do you notice a Lexus CT300 (hybrid), Audi and Merc better, especially in your rear view mirror? How did you come up with that 5% figure? That's totally way off, dude.

And don't forget, many Malaysians still don't understand the importance of turning on their lights when it is dark, regardless of the time of day.

How many times have you entered a tunnel and noticed some idiot in a black car with no lights on?

How many times have you noticed cars not turning on their headlights in an indoor car park?

How many times when it suddenly pours in the afternoon, visibility drops and yet many ar$eholes forget to turn on their lights just because they think they are Superman with super vision, when the fact is the lights are meant for other drivers to notice them?

If you value your life, the lives of those who drive your car, and to prevent scratching that precious ori bodykit, why not invest a small amount on a pair of DRLs?

If you drive a black, silver, grey, dark grey and even white coloured car, your car is at risk of blending in to the environment.

I've noticed another thing too. When my DRLs are switched on, they are really bright and will get noticed easily. I look at pedestrians as I'm driving towads them and from the corner of their eye they will catch that bling and turn their heads. It's a perfectly natural reaction and hence, make them aware of your presence.

The 408 design is out. The 508 is much better. At least it looks elegant (except maybe for the rear) but the 408 is just a better version of the 207 sedan.
*
Actually the 408 is a 308 with a boot. No relation to the smaller 207.

QUOTE(Eclipse80 @ Feb 16 2012, 11:35 AM)
You must remember that most people who buys Camry/Accord/Optima/Mazda 6 are 'Ah Peks' or people with 'Ah Pek' taste. Mazda6 is too sporty for them i guess.

*
Please... It's not that Ah Peks only will buy D-segment, only Ah Peks can *afford* D-segment in this country thanks to you know what. If your thinking is so narrow then you will one day become an Ah Pek who drives a Camry because you think this is what Ah Peks should be driving and nothing more.

You obviously haven't driven an Accord or M6 have you? A tricked out D-segment is gorgeous to behold and costs a whole lot more to trick out, which the ordinary citizen cannot afford to do. Besides, D-segment is considered a normal sized family sedan in US and most parts of the developed world while C-segment is popular not because it is sporty but more so because it is an econobox and cheap to run.

Please don't generalize things you obviously know nothing about.

Did the previous Elantra HD got the accessories which available in Forte? I mean the previous model that available in M'sia.

Nope, the previous Avante didn't have much of what is offered on the Forte including the engines, plus it looked a little funny from the front. And because SD was the company behind it icon_rolleyes.gif

I LOL'ed hard  whistling.gif when I read your comment about forte is out of this C-segment league... compare with city/vios? LOL!

Compare an apple with an apple, not orange dude! in fact Forte/Altis/Civic/Avante/Lancer they all fall under the same category, which is C-segment!
*
There are three groups of people when it comes to the perception of the Forte. Group 1, love it. Group 2, hate it. Group Kalisto, clueless and talking out of his arse... lol...

QUOTE(Hannibal @ Feb 21 2012, 04:52 PM)
To hell with the waiting, I guess it's time I consider something else since the price may not be attractive after all. I'm seriously considering the below cars, anyone care to share some thoughts?

1. Ford Fiesta - Test drived, not bad...  nod.gif but I'm really worried with the after sales issue...  sweat.gif (Entitled to Staff discount RM4,000 + car loan Interest subsidy)
2. Kia Forte - No promotion but I still find it worth the penny  thumbup.gif
3. Peug 308T - Fell in love with it the moment I step on the peddle...  wub.gif really enjoy driving it! But I share the same concern like Ford Fiesta..  sad.gif  (Offered with Overtrade RM10,000 but still expensive la...)
4. Or cont to wait for Elentra...  wink.gif  (Entitled to Staff discount RM4,000 + car loan Interest subsidy)

My budget is only up to RM90,000. Now if u were me, which one would u go for, and why?  unsure.gif

Thanks all sifu in advance!
*
Wah, I'm guessing you're working in a subsidiary of SD?

1) Fiesta. Good for ladies. Cramped for men. Resale value? Not good.

2) Forte. Value for money, solid car with not much problems. RV quite ok, better or on par with Mazda and Nissan.

3) 308T. Mechanical problems aplenty. The French were never reliable. Not even with a German engine. RV ok la.

4) Elantra. Untested. The 1.6 is the slowest among these 4 cars in question. The 1.8 is better but won't be cheap. However since you have a staff discount and subsidized int rate I don't see why not.

QUOTE(Hannibal @ Feb 24 2012, 12:06 PM)
Sad news to share with u guys. Apparently, Sime wanted to price Elantra in a competitive figure like Forte. However, ALL THREE price submission to MITI was REJECTED!!! Mind u, each submission went in with higher... higher... and higher price but till date, still NOT APPROVED!!!  doh.gif

It's absolutely fair to comment that this lovely car falls into the worst timing for clashing with the upcoming Potong. Gomen seems to hold their position strong not allowing foreign car to threaten our beloved Potong.  This solo reason is enuf to cast my vote away....  vmad.gif I pity Sime for this as I know they really wanted to do it right this time.... I still remember attending last year town hall and the chief of motor group reassure us that "this Elantra will beat Forte hands down!". So Ironic!  sweat.gif

SAD SAD SAD. I've decided to go with Fiesta, hope I'm doing the right decision...  hmm.gif
*
Hehehe, after the drubbing they got for losing to K5 with their Sonata, they wanna kill off the Forte to save some face smile.gif

I think you should look from the business point of view. Would you deliberately withhold your product from the market? Do you know how much losses SD is suffering with each passing day?

Ok, let's try and see. Just for you, d1ckhead...

Sales volume: Expected 400-500 a month.

Per unit price: RM90-110k

Profit margin: 15% (just an example)

Can you count?

Well, majority in this thread doesn't care about those facts anyway. They only care about kampung stories that Inokom bikin lorry.

Logo nerd rage, true story bro.
I beg to differ on the selling poorly part, I've been seeing sharp increase in Mazda 3 on the road recently that any other cars, I actually see more of the latest Mazda 3 than the Altis on the road.
The Elantras are hiding behind the private stockyard blocked by other cars and not accessible by the public.
*
Well, according to data from MAA, the Mazda 3 is selling on average 140-160 cars. This trend has been like this since July 2011 until now. No sharp increase in sales. Maybe around the area that you travel la, but overall no significant change.
