My wife's Altis is 1.6 and about 7 years old. Altis also very cram cabin. I got a Odyssey as weekend & travelling car and the Altis is for my wife going to work and fetching the kids to school, tuition, etc. She just need a decent size car, but not sure if Prius C is is too small?

Actually the Malaysia Prius C spec is closer to the Prius C 4 spec in US which is USD23,990. That would exchange to roughly RM71,970 @ RM3 to 1US$. So we are paying like RM25k more than US. I guess part of that goes to the cronies for the AP and the rest is UMW profit.

There is no point arguing over our M'sia auto policies here. Just go out and vote to make a difference if you all would like to see changes. Although each of us is only a vote each but together we can change the whole country, our future.

Really ah. I thought small and economical car is best for this kind of job.

I got 2 kids with really heavy school bags. I wonder the Prius C got enough power for those heavy school bags. I don't understand why primary 1 kid need so many books.

Not true lah. Off course look is important. Like chasing girls, you only go for good looking girls. But looks is a subjective thing. Other things play important role too like character etc.

For me spec is very important and I really like the keyless entry and ignition. Spacious cabin is also very critical for me.

Oh Yah, I forgot the sales tax. So we are probably paying RM15k more for the Prius C. Another thing to take note is that the Prius C at USD23,990 is a very expensive for a compact car which is more towards the high end compact car.

In the end, Hybrid still cost a hefty premium and one must decided whether the premium is worthwhile.

Go out in full force in the coming election and let our voice be heard.

I really like the current Civic when compare to the Altis and since pweic would trade the Civic for a Prius C, I guess I should have no problem doing the same for the Altis.

Will probably be home on Thursday and it so happen that Toyota will be having the Prius in Miri this weekend. Will definitely go check it out.

I heard Insight has a really noisy engine.

Will know in a few days time if it is suitable for my wife.

Actually, this is more like second car for city commuting. I have a Honda Odyssey that take cares of moving people and cargo.

My wife is happy with any car and the Altis is fine with her too now. She drove 60-70km everyday going to work and fetching 2 kids to school and tuition. Its just me who like to try new technology and I find the Prius C have most of the goodies like 7 airbags, cruise control(which I never use), telescopic steering, Keyless Ignition and entry, ABS, etc. But what really excites me is the 53mpg which most reviews say its easily achievable on the Prius C.

I won't buy a Prius for 40k more. I rather buy an accord or camry at that price.

I won't buy an Insight because I really hate the low roof of the passenger seat. and also the "second class" hybrid technology (this is a fact so no need to flame anymore).

Not yet lah. Still need to see the car and test drive it.

Last time I got some interest in the Insight but when I saw the car, I am really disappointed. So still haven't see the Prius C, but my wife say its pretty small.

My brother in law went to test drive the car yesterday and came back disappointed.

Sound proofing very poor...can hear wind and tyres sound very clearly. Dashboard quality very poor and the very small cabin(smaller then Vios).

Basically he said not worth it for Rm99K(in Sarawak).

CR-Z is more or less the same lah. Anyway, I will go see the Prius for myself this friday when I get back to Miri.

No lah. He got a Vios for my sister, and a Nissan Navara for himself. That is what he notice from his test drive. Wind and tyres sound very loud in the cabin.

I think the size comparison was with the Vios. I think for Rm100k, most people expect better built quality.

Thanks for you advise. Will definitely out the Prius C when I am back home. I will not consider the Insight & Jazz Hybrid as I find the IMA not very impressive. Not very interested in Korean car( although I must admit that the recent Korean offering absolutely put the jap to shame) because over here in Sarawak, the Korean cars have very poor after sale service and the service centre is really second grade and that somehow translate to very poor resale value.

I don't really need to buy a Prius C unless it really impress me to the extend that I want to let go the Altis.

We'll see.

I am very excited about the Prius C because of all the features you mention above and even have telescopic steering wheel which my Honda Odyssey don't even have. Cars like Camry in Malaysia also don't have telescopic Steering wheel if I am not wrong. But for most people including myself, I find it difficult to pay RM100k for a compact car unless it is truely exceptional. Again I could get a Myvi for half the price which is even more spacious yet it serve the same purpose.

Yah...but 50K is a lot of money too!

Went to the road show in Miri today and have a good look at the Prius C. No test drive till monday. However i have a good look at the car. The dashbook is very solidly built although the design and color might not appeal to all. Its not like a luxury car but it is definitely well put together. The door plastic is solid too and the closing of the door feel good and sound good too.

The cabin is about the same size as the Vios except it has slightly more headroom for the rear passenger. Overall it is a nice compact car which is slightly on the small side. We have to test drive on monday and see how it drive.

Sure. The biigest surprise for me at the road show is the Original Prius. Its really awesome. I change my mind regarding a Pruis vs Camry. I would go for the Pruis instead of the Camry. Its got very unique and spaceage interior and the size is impressive too. The features in the Pruis would put the camry to shame.
