I haven't tried yet, but users in here are saying if you use third party media players, you can easily gain access to playing media from your sd card. No need to root.

What kind of music player app are u guys using? I can't get the default player to play my songs in my sd card, unless I browse for it in astro file manager. But I can only play 1 song at a time. Can't play the whole folder.
