Getting Started

Hi, Rebuilding my recently purchased Semi-D to improve built up and rework the old piping etc. TOtal duration planned 6 months. here are some initial pics: Before: https://picasaweb.google.com/10342305762555...feat=directlinkJust started works, Progress 1: https://picasaweb.google.com/10342305762555...feat=directlinkMy biggest challenge thus far is to level the ground floor. Today, the entrance hall and dining are saparated by 2 feet elevation. As i have yound kids, i am not keen with the elevation, so i am levelling the floors. The only thing is, instead of loosing out ceiling height on the groun floor, we have taken the approach to bring entire house level 0.5 as low as the foundation allows to level 0 (hall). So far, manage the bring the ground floor down by 1 foot..so have to raise hall by 1 foot....still will have a ceiling height of 10 feet once we have plaster ceiling!

It is really a challenge to be able to bring down the existing ground level. Having to overcome the existing underground services, ground beams and footings.

Wow this looks like you are tearing down the whole house and building it up again. .... Maybe the cost will be cheaper and the process faster if you done this instead..

Thanks Guys. DBKL is a little fussy when it comes to tearing it all down. The challenge in flattening the ground floor is the size of support beams on the ground. You cant cut it off completely...so you can go as low as shaving half the beams off but no more....my goal was to lower the house 2 feet...what we achieved was only 1 feet.so i had to bring my hall up by 1 feet to meet level! I have updated the pictures on the before and after house plans: https://picasaweb.google.com/10342305762555...feat=directlink
