The paper , for me was harder than the previous years . For papers of 2005-2010, all of the papers were easy since the questions were repeated . Every single time !
But for 2011 there were a couple of questions that required thinking , hence I got 58/60 for the paper . Most of my friends said it was easy though . One of them , who had 78 , scored a B . My verdict : For objective papers , i.e GEO , SEJ , KHB , aim for perfection and you won't regret . This post has been edited by maximR: Aug 18 2012, 12:12 PM |

QUOTE(Sridev Pro Designer @ Aug 21 2012, 12:37 PM) So how's your holidays so far guys? Let's see , around August , after the N.S Trials ... I was printing out all states' trial papers for Sejarah [ in small booklet form to save paper ] , Science [ paper 2 , bound them ] and also for some other subjects [ my teacher needed them ] . I don't think there's much time for us to relax and chill anymore I'm trying to make use of this week to finish up my syllabus completely & start doing exercises from next week onwards What about you guys? What's your planning? Added on August 21, 2012, 12:41 pm Yeaaaaa about that. Only if I started studying earlier like you, I could aim for 60:P So what were you doing around this time last year? Relaxing? Hardcore revision? I collected all states' Science trial papers , from 2009 - 2010 so I had 3 bound books . I finished all of them , was familiar with the pattern of questions in and out . Here's a tip : Complete question 1 , 7 and 8 with no mistakes and you'll have 26 marks in your hands . 26 + 40 from Paper 1 , you'll score a B , just by doing those 3 questions . Finish those questions , relax for a minute , then go on to the next questions and try to get 14 marks from them and you'll score an A My teacher provided all states' Geografi papers . I did so many Geografi papers beforehand [ model papers , past year papers ] , that I became fed up with them , so I didn't do 2 of the papers provided by my teacher . I was really confident with Geografi and English around August , so I worked on my 5 other subjects . I just did past year papers for Maths and some model papers and that was it . Practised many Sejarah trial papers , model papers , past year papers [ I kept track of the number of questions I finished , it was more than 6 000 ] around August and September . Stopped reading the Sejarah books . 2 more subjects , right ? I read example essays for BM , did trial papers for Paper 1 , made sure I had mastered the tatabahasa part , reread my KOMSAS / Novel [ not the real novel , reference books ] made sure I was quick with my ringkasan and KBBR [ always made sure I didn't exceed 120 words , in PMR I did 113 words ] . Compared the section C questions of different states , remembered simple points to elaborate [ mostly on gejala negatif / langkah-langkah memupuk amalan membaca/menabung/budi bahasa ] . Last but not least - KHB . To be honest , I started revising for it pretty late ; around the end of August . I read up the entire Elektif part [ pretty easy , I liked PK ] and then focused on important points for Teras . I skipped Masakan and Jahitan . Started doing all the trial papers I could find for KHB [ they were pretty rare ] , including the Cerdik's Kertas Spot KHB . That was about it . I just waited for D-day to come after that . I didn't do anything the week before PMR [ okay , I lied . I was paranoid and I reread my KHB trial papers and kupasan novel , although teacher confirmed that only 1 Novel would come out as we're the last batch to use the old literature novels , I insisted on reading the other 2 horrible novel analyses a couple of days before PMR . DON'T DO THAT ! Stop everything a week or two before the actual exam and just relax . Relax by doing the things you love the most . If it's gaming that calms your nerves , game all you can . If it's badminton that distresses you , by all means - play ! When you're ready , there's no reason to panic . It's like breathing , it will come to you on the actual exam day . Things went pretty quickly after that . But one thing I can never forget : I almost broke down for the last subject , KHB . I didn't sleep well the night before the last day of exam which was Maths and KHB [ Reason : Excited ] . I could handle the Maths paper . Then I went back home for the 2 hours break , had my shower , ate mum's cooking and then felt like dosing off after that . I felt sleepy ! All I did was to splash cold water on my face but it didn't work well . Was too tired during KHB - I checked the paper only twice , did several mistakes and then gave up checking I really wanted the 7A's . The odds were against me ; my mother found out that she had cancer several days before 2011 . It was really hard seeing how my mother coped with her sickness while preparing for my PMR . But she stayed strong , so I remained strong for the year too . When the results came out , I couldn't contain my excitement . Being a guy that doesn't show much emotion , I felt really relieved and happy inside . Those A's re-boosted my confidence to do well in my SPM and I proved to myself that I could handle things by myself . If , by reading this you suddenly feel pressured , please remember that you don't need to work that hard [ doing so many Science trial papers , questions ] . Really . When I received my results , among the emotions I felt , one was disappointment . I was disappointed because my classmates who played all year long with almost no effort scored A's for their Science . Some with little effort , scored 7 A's and a B . You'll have to live with it , this is PMR . Generally , with little work you can score well . BUT , there is a but . By working hard , you'll bring the attitude to Form 4 and Form 5 . You will continue to work hard and strive for the best . For those who didn't , but got good results , they will generally slack . Reason being , they think SPM will be the same ball game as PMR . Hence , you see many seniors regretting that they didn't work harder . In a nutshell , there are many things to do a couple of months before PMR . Plan well . Most importantly , treat it as a challenge and enjoy the journey . You will definitely cherish these few months . Just 2 more months - keep on going . After that , you can then party like crazy . Or read some form four books if you're a nerd . Always strive to learn more , you will never be disappointed . All the best dude ! |

QUOTE(Sridev Pro Designer @ Aug 21 2012, 03:50 PM) Yes, I've experienced that before during my UPSR year as well. People who hardly paid attention in classes and spent little effort scored 5A's in UPSR. While most of my friends and I who studied really hard since the beginning of the year scored only 4A's. But I've changed a lot throughout the years. Nowadays I don't just study to pass the tests but I do it out of pure passion and interest. And guess what, it's pretty effective. I presume that's how you treat studying too, right? (; I think I'm gonna follow your path. Spamming all the trial papers from all states from today onwards. I'm really confident in getting straight A's or even if screw up , the least I'll be getting is 6A's I guess. Thanks for contributing in this forum dude, you kind of inspired me to study smarter. Oh, I was just about to post this in your form four thread.... Could you do a review of reference books for form four just like you did last year? (if you're free lah) I'm kind of interested in learning Sejarah, Biology, Chemistry and PHYSICS!!! Yes , pure passion and interest just makes studying much much easier . I really enjoy studying my science subjects . No , leave the screw up part . Forget about that . As long as you've given everything , forget about the result . Sure , I will . Thanks for reminding . I almost forgot , haha . This time around I'll post pictures too . |

QUOTE(IzeStorm @ Aug 23 2012, 06:56 PM) gosh, play too much this holiday I'm not sure what you meant by 'real experiment outcome' because a hypothesis is done before actually conducting an experiment . BTW i got 1 question about science 2, if the responing vr. in the result's table is "reading of meter/stopwatch", should i use it for hypothesis? or should I use the real experiment outcome instead? But : You have 2 options . For example , if the question states " The apparatus is set up to investigate the relationship between the size of the bell jar and the time taken for candle to extinguish " . In the table , it is stated that the responding variable is the 'reading of the stopwatch' . In that case , you can choose either one . Normally , I would choose the second one with the apparatus . Like 'reading of spring balance' , 'reading of thermometer' , 'reading of stopwatch' for my hypothesis , RV and also conclusion because it could also be used for the operational definition . Hope I helped . |

QUOTE(IzeStorm @ Aug 25 2012, 08:56 PM) maximR I've 1 question regarding the BM novel, how many choices you guys have in PMR? By choice I mean all Form 1, 2 and 3 included or one of it only? My time , we had one only , Form 3 . You won't know for sure and you won't get to choose , unlike English . Sometimes only one of the forms , sometimes you're asked to compare novels from 2 forms . |

QUOTE(IzeStorm @ Aug 25 2012, 10:08 PM) Gosh, I really hope they'll provide us every novel, word cannot express how much I dislike Form 2 novel "Wira Persona Avatari". I think I'll read Form 1 and Form 3 novel only. Won't waste my time at Form 2 novel. Better be safe than sorry . It is always good to prepare for all . I remember last year I disliked my form 2 pahlawan pasir salak novel but I read it anyway in case something weird happens . |

QUOTE(Matrix374 @ Sep 9 2012, 10:51 PM) I got practice exams tomorrow and I haven't studied smack haha. Continue with what you're doing . Ignore your results , then continue doing that for your SPM . After getting your results , your eyes will be opened . Trust me . I won't be surprised if I get bad grades but it'll be a good for opening my eyes. I'm currently stuck in lala land playing video games,H-games and watching anime so I definitely need the eye opener But by then it'll be all too late and you'll regret , but you can do nothing about it . |

Not wanting to get good results just to aim for Arts is a crappy , bullish excuse . Whatever you do in your studies will benefit you , not your parents , remember that .
Getting straight A's in PMR doesn't mean you cannot opt for Arts . Added on September 22, 2012, 1:09 pmI refer to the person who asked about the minerals chapter . My advice would be just to memorise the word equations . Pretty straightforward stuff . For example , a compound ending with carbonate [ CO3 ] would decompose to produce carbon dioxide [ CO2 ] when heated . Why memorise ? To understand these reactions you need some basic knowledge of form four Chemistry , especially the reaction between acids and alkali , acids and metals , electrolysis of water , etc . For now just stick to the basic stuff and remember the important concepts . This post has been edited by maximR: Sep 22 2012, 01:09 PM |

QUOTE(danielcmugen @ Sep 23 2012, 03:59 PM) I thought I rmb the paya bakau or wat can be used to make arang batu. But how come my this book say cannot? So can or cannot? Mind posting the questions ? Added on September 23, 2012, 4:04 pm1 more. How come my this book say lebuh raya utara-selatan and lebuh raya timur barat is also used to memajukan kawasan di pedalaman. Paya bakau can be used to make arang kayu , NOT arang batu . Arang batu is coal , a mineral . Normally memajukan kawasan pedalaman is associated with kapal terbang in Sabah/Sarawak . |

No , 60 questions all these while . Maybe the senior above has forgotten since he has been away from the PMR world for quite some time already .
I'd suggest that you guys just relax , it won't happen to you . Just do your best and you'll do just fine . On a sidenote : There was once where 60 of the questions were elektif ones , no teras questions . If I'm not mistaken it was in the year 2009 ? Students and teachers protested saying it wasn't fair , so they again reverted to the old format . |

Well , I can say that last year Transformer was a hot topic for experiment . Just read through and understand the experiment .
Anyway , the pattern for kaedah pengkajian sejarah for question one has been broken in my year . There is one interesting thing : Every year , there will be only one question for bab 3 of form one if I'm not mistaken . Every year , the focus will alternate between agraria and maritim . I can confirm this . Last year I laughed to myself when the question was on agraria , which was predicted . |
