Hey guys, please recommend me a laptop. I intend to use it for productivity (office use) and development, so i3 is definitely out.

Light gaming is okay. Budget is around RM2,800 (preferably by installments either 12 months or 24 months) and Lowyat Plaza is within reach. Would love to hear suggestions from you guys.

Edit: Forgot to add, I prefer something light for traveling, so 13" or 14" would be ideal.

Well, I know Harvey Norman (Pavillion) are offering half price for those 1 year old laptop that they have kept. U can give a try..
For example, Acer Timeline X i5 were selling around RM1,900 compare to original price at RM2,899.

Wouldn't i7 run hot in a laptop?

Yea, can check it out. By saying 1 yr old, do you mean first gen Core i architecture? In that case I'll pass since Ivy is around the corner, wouldn't want to spend on something 2 gens old.

Yea, that's what I heard too. I've seen an i7 under load hitting 90C.

1900 is quite a good price but add 200-300 can get Dell or HP that i believe better than Acer

Hi guys. I'm about to buy my very own laptop. So I need some recommendations.

1. Preferred brand : Either ASUS or Dell

Friends telling me that ASUS has better performance while my sis kept insisting that I should get Dell. The only thing I find it good about Dell is the customer service.

2. Budget : By max, I think I can only afford RM2k

3. Usage : So far I need them for web browsing, downloading, typing, if possible I would like to try some new games available for the PC (at its top, not necessarily best) since my home computer's specs couldn't reach those new games requirements.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size : Maybe 14" or more?

- Mostly for heavy graphic stuffs (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Paint SAI, MangaStudio & maybe some 3D rendering), music, heavy Internet surfing & moderate-heavy gaming (Sims3, online games). Use along with Graphic Tablet.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
- 13-17? as long as it's easy to travel with.
- good battery life
