Where is my cow with gun? smile.gif ...i have try his step using terminal emulator. after i key in su ( super user permission granted ) and then pm setInstallLocation 2. Doesn't seem any different. It is still unable detect the external card for gameloft game to install to it  cry.gif
*
sorry mate, long break. i stop for christmas, there 12 pages! sweat.gif

about your problem about not enough internal memory, there are 2 things you can to do:

1) use the setInstallLocation will help u to free up Internal Memory since all new app will now be installed to your external sd card by default.

2) you need to manually move existing app to external sd by going to "Setting", "Manage Application", then select the App, and move to sd card.

After that, check again in Setting storage, see how much space you can free up in the Internal Device memory and try install the Golf game again. smile.gif

Hi guys , need to ask few questions >.<

1. It's best for me to root my phone right ? It won't affect anything , I mean , let's say if I have musics/video/games inside the phone , will it affect them ?

2. The downloaded apps will be stored in my internet storage ,correct ? How can I make it stored in my external ( SD Card ) storage ?

Thanks!
*
1) Root... dont no root... free your phone!

2) Follow this to have you app installed to external sd by default:

1) Well if you root just bear in mind that your warranty will void although you could un-root it back but I recall there's a way for samsung to tell that you've rooted before via some sort of counter..i cant be sure as my wife's SGW is not rooted..other than that, it doesnt affect whats in your phone. Unless u tinker with them yourself.
any more info about the samsung root counter?

if this is about the firmware counter, there is nothing to worry about:

http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/08/how-to-...sung-galaxy-s2/

this counter will only increase if you use flash your phone.

using zergrush, nothing is changed on the firmware level. so, for everyone that root their phone with DooMLoRD package, don't worry about the firmware counter.

my RAM memory always drop below 100/350 after i on the phone after 12hours even when i kill all the apps using GO launcher..

however, whenever I reboot my phone and kill all the apps, i will get 16x/350 RAM...

why after using the phone without reboot my 60+ RAM will gone?? any way to prevent this happens?

and those apps will auto pop-up and continue eat my RAM, its very annoying.. anyway can block those apps auto popping out?? =x
*
That's is common. Majority of the ram is being used to create a RAMDrive that will host most commonly used system files ( da root and /system). The rest, on Android OS and Samsung TouchUI and other widget. So, even if you just started you phone, big chunk of memory is gone.

After using the phone for awhile, without reboot, some app that you closed actually being cached in the memory because the OS think that you may use it again. You can clear these cache in the "Setting", "Manage App", app. However, you dont need to do that because the OS is smart enough to clear it in low memory. Loading from memory is both faster and use less power compare to loading from storage.

If this sound too complex, just leave it be! Android will take full use of your ram.

How to connect galaxy w to pc using kies??

Why not use the "Kies Air" in SGW? It's superb! No USB cable needed, can upload and download files thru wifi. Can even use when there is no Wifi! You can set your phone to be a Hotspot.

just want to know .. what is this game under gameloft data?

GloftHo65 ?

GloftUFHM ?

GloftELHP ?
*
I know GloftELHP is for Eternal Legacy. Not sure about others... uninstalling game in Setting WILL NOT remove downloaded files in /sdcard/gameloft

Cowithgun... Why don't you quote everything and reply at once. Flooded with your post. Anyway... http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2125489/+2500#entry47687570 you mentioned, is done to the apk or what? I mean, those commands will be applied on to the apk? Or it set the phone to install into external SD? Not really research deep into all this. Should get my hands dirty soon. laugh.gif

Replying individually for each post make it possible for me to provide link to that post in the future. I always like to use link to refer to things I posted earlier rather than retype it. Hehe, guess your guys will have to live with it.

About that link (dont you find it easy if u click the link, you see directly that post? Instead of the whole page or all other reply? biggrin.gif That's why I post reply individually)

- is done to the apk or what?
yes, but not "done" to apk. it will only affect all NEW apk that you will install in the future.

- I mean, those commands will be applied on to the apk?
yes

- Or it set the phone to install into external SD?
yes. by default, new app will be installed to Device memory, but with that setting, new app will be installed to external sd card...

am i repeating myself? sorry. doh.gif

oo.. Eternal Legacy is it .. so if we uninstall in setting also the data that we download in sd storage will not be remove is it? we need to remove it manually .. is it a bit troublesome?
*
Ya. You may delete anything inside /sdcard/gameloft anytime. The game will detect and download it again if needed. Save games are stored somewhere else (/data/data/game_package).

i delete all the gameloft game in /sdcard/gameloft .. and now my sd storage is free .. currently 628MB only been use..

So in the future if we uninstall games we need to check inside sd card also is it ..

Added on December 27, 2011, 6:22 pmI want to ask .. Where is the data for apps? example .. for Camera Apps / Widget ... is it the same like games data? Do we need to remove manually inside file explorere or Astro?
*
Not all game save to /sdcard. By design, all App has 2 folders:

/data/app/app_package - this store the main apk
/data/data/app_package - this store all the game files, save game, etc

both of this are on the Device memory. however, most big game knows there is limited space in the device memory, they will use "getExternalFilesDir()" API to get the external storage. This actually resolved into "/sdcard/Android/data/app_package".

All these 3 folders will be removed when you uninstalled the game.

However, some lazy programmers (including all gameloft game) actually just hard coded "/sdcard/gameloft" into the code. These type of game may have function to remove the downloaded file, but if not, you may need to manually delete them.

Cow, anyway to recompress our mp4 record at 720p in smaller size but still good-looking quality? lolz
any "software" to recommend? (phone or PC also can)
XD
*
How about Window's WMV file? It's incredible small even for 720p movie. I always convert to WMV first before uploading to Youtube.

To convert to WMV, just download and use Microsoft Essential's Movie Maker, it's free.

Good thing is, SGW can play WMV file natively without anything extra.

I got GT racing but no auto on data, I think should not be that. ><
not Go switcher, I use Switch Pro widget.
oh? software 400mb? map only 30mb?
eheh, so the sygic can app2sd ?
your Aura map put at where? sdcard (usb storage) right?
*
ok then. coz that app requested for some crazy permissions:

CODE
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.SEND_SMS" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.CHANGE_WIFI_STATE" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED" />

these are not common in games. i even strip internet access from game.

To store Aura map to external sd card, refer here:

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2098558/+2380#entry47008541

ps: but i remember you said your GT racing is NOT the free one from market and dont auto start? i was referring to the free+ from Android market...

i ahve a question,i use terminal emulator on my sgw, and i find out after use it, in order to make it work,i have to move the installed app to sd card, only then the app will REALLY move to external sd card...

is it normal.....?? rclxub.gif
thank you notworthy.gif
The command will only affect NEW app that you will install in the future. You need to manually move existing app to external sd by going to "Setting", "Manage Application", then select the App, and move to sd card.

Also, make sure you dont get "permission denied" type of error. If you have that error, make sure you run "su" first before running "pm setInstallLocation 2"

It's not really a secret, i found that out from googling around. smile.gif
