Hi fellow drummers, I'm letting go one of my cymbal - Sabian Vault Artisan 18" Crash for sales, including cymbal bag and original cert when purchase. Also I may be putting up another Sabian Artisan Light Ride 20" for sales (also with cymbal bag and cert). Great chance for those who want to own a piece of high end Sabian cymbals. Reason being that I owned 3 Artisan cymbals (another one is 22" medium ride), and they sound too alike to each others, letting go one or two to fund some other brighter sounding cymbals.

Hi guys, I'm interested in learning the Cajon, have a musical background but not in percussion. (Guitar/bass/piano)

Three simple questions I can't seem to find the answer for.

1. Where to buy? (Checked garage sales but out of stock, and bentley had no stock too)

2. How much? (Saw some online shops like Doremi but they didnt list the price)

3. Can it be self-taught? Easy to learn? I'm looking to learn an instrument that can be self taught.

what recording device u use to record the sound? camera mic??

zoom sounds better,more depth, i think you can get better sound if you improve the acoustic of your room. U place it under the hats??

Anybody here know if its safe/okay to purchase electronic drums from overseas? Like U.S for example? Planning to get an Alesis DM6 from Amazon, not sure if kena tahan by customs. If I really have to buy one here, chances are, I'd probably go with Yamaha DTX400 but would like to see if anyone got sell used set.

I looked through the tariffs website and it says percussion musical instruments at 0% import rate but 10% sales tax, not sure what that means. E-mailed them but their reply wasn't really helpful. I have to buy an e-drum kit as I'm staying in an apartment.

well, if it's Alesis DM6 in itself, there is a difference of about RM1K, include shipping and the difference is about RM200-400. Honestly saying, I don't mind going to customs, as long as I know how much to expect to pay them.
Out of curiosity, do you happen to know any website/forum etc. that sells musical instrument? Not like an official shop but something like lowyat garage sales, a traders place sorta

ive picked up drums since late June 2014 and im enjoying every bit of it..
i go for classes in a centre but now im thinking to get an acoustic drumset at my home...
spoke to my instructor a few times and because i would prefer something value for money and inexpensive, she recommended 2 places i can check out..

JS Music and Doremi - what do u guys think about this place?

for JS music she recommended the PDP drums and JS cymbals.
for Doremi is Sonor ?

Hi all drum sifus, I have tried a few drums around KL and these are the few drums I've narrowed down but couldn't really decide.

Tama Starclassic Performer B/B, Yamaha Live Custom, Pearl MCX, and Truth Drum.

Personally, I find the Tama unit to be unique. Birch + Bubinga does give a very fat sound with a good mid although the Pearl MCX have a better mid and high and the pearl seems to be very open while the Tama unit I find the sound very closed up.

Then went to try out my friend's Yamaha Live Custom, and oh boy! What a beast! Sounded so much fatter than the Tama and clearly outshine the Pearl as well. It kind stand out, however when contacted Yamaha don't have stock, not until April or May.

Then tried out Truth at TGS. Man, those shells sings! And the workmanship is way better than the other 3 brands.

So am pretty bumped. For economical wise - I'll go with Tama. For sound wise - The pearl might suit me, but the Yamaha sounds really really good (just need to go to friend's place to whack it again), and for workmanship wise - Truth is the bet.

I own a Yamaha Recording Custom (second hand unit), Sonor Select Force, and Ludwig Acrylic kit (hand down unit from uncle, 1980s kit)
