QUOTE(WintersuN @ Aug 26 2013, 10:21 AM) Oic. So if put tissue will more tight sound. Is it proportional to the thickness or area of the tissue? I also dun like look messy but no choice la cos the sound too loud need to muffle. Mine is a pearl masters 8 X 12". Quite big. scientifically, the tissue helps to absorb the vibrance. so i paste them at off center, at the spot which produces the most annoying 'piangggggggg' sound, i u get what i mean thickness or width is up to u actually. but basically, more tissue, more dampened.

QUOTE(Axel @ Oct 23 2014, 09:32 PM) Anybody here know if its safe/okay to purchase electronic drums from overseas? Like U.S for example? Planning to get an Alesis DM6 from Amazon, not sure if kena tahan by customs. If I really have to buy one here, chances are, I'd probably go with Yamaha DTX400 but would like to see if anyone got sell used set. I looked through the tariffs website and it says percussion musical instruments at 0% import rate but 10% sales tax, not sure what that means. E-mailed them but their reply wasn't really helpful. I have to buy an e-drum kit as I'm staying in an apartment. is it really cheaper than buying locally? i wouldn't wanna go through all the hassel and waiting. unless i'm buying rare brands like 2box drumit

QUOTE(boiboi95 @ Feb 1 2015, 02:27 AM) Guys, going to buy a electronic drum set (can't get an acoustic cause too loud) I have 2 choices here: Roland TD-11k Yamaha DTX522 Which 1 should I go for? I've tried roland's mesh pad and i think they feels great but I haven't try out Yamaha's yet. Any yamaha e-drum owner here? Any feedbacks? Thanks I own a dtxpress iv special. imho, yamaha sound is better than roland (sounds real, not as synthesized as roland). but the downside, the pad acoustically sounds a bit loud, compared to roland's mesh.. have tried silicone pad, they bounced better, and the sound oso not as loud as it's predecessor. so I think i'd go for dtx522

QUOTE(fdcoiea @ Feb 10 2015, 01:34 PM) Hey! Congrats on your purchase! Well for my case, my lighting rods had some chips on the size. Used it for a couple of gigs so the side were pretty worn out. Then wanted to try out some experiment. Because Roland mesh is so sensitive, you can tap it with finger and it'll sound. So was thinking if I could cheat with a single lighting rod to get a double stroke since the individual stick will hit about mili seconds apart. After a few tries (about 3 minutes in) the mesh was not as sensitive. And eventually found out that some of the wood chips actually went in between the mesh. At first we thought it couldn't be the problem, but when we sent it for service we found out that it is. Something to do with the sensor sense the tension of the mesh to trigger, but if the chips are in between it may cut off the signal. We read about it, but did not find anything as what the service person told us - so for now, just make sure your drum stick isn't having any chipped while playing? ooh first time hearing this. b4 this i was drumming on td15 during my varsity years. used rods but neva faced this problem b4. and i don't change my sticks that often. keep using them even when they're worn out. u hit hard?

QUOTE(boiboi95 @ Feb 16 2015, 06:21 PM) As mentioned on earlier post before, i prefer Roland over Yamaha because for me the sponge pad on Yamaha tends to bounce too much, i felt that the mesh pads have the feeling that i want; but Roland's module sounds bit more synthetized than Yamaha. haha. I actually felt the other way around. Mesh is too bouncy for me. I guess those who in dilemma can't make a conclusion out of mere talk. get your sticks in action. try 'em both

adjustability..hmm..elims user here btw all i can say about elims' adjustability advantage is it will be only used once, at least for me. when i get curious to try new settings, i'll make some adjustment on the pedal. but surely i will re-adjust it back to my comfort settings. so yeah. it helps a lot for you to find your perfect pedal setting that matches your feet in the beginning, but you won't use it a lot when you already found the perfect one. in my opinion, IC got it's unique feel (mixture of heavyness and power) and your feet will adapt to it. while Elims is another way around; it adapts to your feet. anyway, just my humble opinion
