The LCD becomes hot is because the sensor is just behind the screen. It is the sensor's heat that is causing the overheating, although the LCD could contribute a tiny portion of heat as well.
*
The LCD does generate a relative amount of heat if you have used live view long enough. And this is in my old a300. Turning it off would probably do more good to the sensor IMO.

Why do you say that all filters will degrade the pic quality?
*
You are blocking a small percentage of light after all...

Hmm. What you and William said is true. Didn't think about that.

Anyways, know the e-a mount adapter? The first generation one. There's no glass in between right? So why doesn't it work as an extension tube?
*
Because it is not 'extended' at all.. it just changes the flange distance of the E mount to suit the A-mount so that the A mount lenses can function...

zstan : We're all a bit kiasu mah... If I'm going to plonk down RM 5k for a lens I better darn well make sure that a revised version with SSM is not going to pop up anytime soon! The price tag of said new lens may be RM1k higher but then it will be worth it.

Coz I don't want to look at the lens and sigh every single time, knowing that if I had waited just a little longer I could have gotten the latest version with all the bells & whistle.

You know you will feel the same way too...
*
Well if we base on Canon/Nikon's way of revising old lenses...it usually takes at least 6-8 years before they come out with a new version...the 85 zeiss just came out like 2-3 years ago so still go long time before it get's revised!

So go buy now..and sell me later lorrrr... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rclxm9.gif

I remembered last time at KLPF, I was on 85mm f1,4 and Porkchop and others become obstacles in order for me to take a snipe hahahaha~~"

@Albert - I am curious. If i were to get those adapters, means I could use the other Zeiss and Voightlander and still maintain AF and AF confirmation? This is tempting as I do have some older Zeiss lying around somewhere.....
*
The most you can get is AF confirmation if the mount has electronics chip...
