I fly RC planes and helis, planes are much easier than helis to fly but both take a little time to learn when starting out. Lots and lots of fun though.

Last time i bought a Hirobo Shuttle ZXX with JR radio, OS Engine and spare parts at RM4k.
No license needed, but you need to get a large area to fly it.
All i can say, don't crash cause it will cost few hundred a time...

There is a couple of shop in Armcorp mall but I would not recommend them coz very unfriendly. langsi.... A frind of mine has a shop in Kajang, Taman Zamrud. Very helpful and willing to teach for free. if you buy from him. He is MR Vanan.

Another frindly shop is Planet Hobby in Setapak. I am also willing to impart my little knowdge how to fly plane and land them safely.... I've got a few planes and a electric heli to sell. Call me if interested. 012-3971284.

A brand new set with radio, plane, propeller, fuel, radio and servo would probably cost you around RM1600. A good Second hand cost around RM900.

Helicopter is much more expensive and I would not recommend to a beginner. More than RM4000 and damage is ultra expensive to fix.

try modifying them. I had a little project a while ago, transplanting servos, electronics and some control rods to my China Made plane. Flew better than original coz you can control the motor speed, rudder and elevator.

Oh I forgot about Nam Lee. go and see Ah Sing, Just mention thet u r a friend of Sharif from Puchong and probably he'll five you a good discount. I normally take my RC electric stuffs there.

waow.straight into R40 n 710 huh??? so fast.r u a beginer or what?? if u're a beginner,i dun reccomend both of those. those cars are for proffesional drivers, capable of winning the world championship. for starters, the Team Associated Nitro Tc3 Ready To Run is a fantastic choice. once u noe the setups n how to drive without banging, then u can upgrade to something like Mugen MTX4 or Serpent 710.

Mentioning about the RC tank that I've posted earlier, it's price is about RM600+, but have to wait since its a limited order item. The best thing that I found out about this RC is that it can controlled to shoot. I got shot once that day and it really hurts tongue.gif

yes u can as long as the Electronic Speed Control can support 7.2 volts.as for the charger,it doesn't matter what capacity it has,the only thing is make sure both the charger n battery is compatible .eg. ni-mh charger with ni-mh charger,ni-cd charger with ni-cd charger.

actually I'm not firmiliar with YoKoMo brand...but can laaH smile.gif I'm more to TAMIYA thumbup.gif
Yokomo have drift package for electric power (using battery) and gas power (using nitro fuel)..

I'm may only know about electric power because I'm only in this section..
Drift Package from Team YoKoMo offer you/us chasis that base on CGM chasis. price is around RM1.+K the price is only for kit (chasis, tyre, insert, rim, bodyshell, basic item like shaft)..BUT I think YokoMo have RTR Drift Package for electric power...RTR mean Ready to Run..that mean you buy the item, go back home charge the battery after 2-4 hours there you go...you can play! thumbup.gif price I don't know. pls contact Hobby Haven speak to Haidi or Elwyn.. they the only main dealer YoKoMo for Malaysia and Singapore http://www.hobbyhaven.com.my/contact_us.php
below picture of YoKoMo drift package for electric power (RTR)

YoKoMo drift package gas power (RTR)
http://www.ehobbies.com/ItemDetail.do?&hdnASINNO=B0006MZMFA
YoKoMo drift acc +stuff
http://yokomousa.com/JA_site/newproducts/NewProducts2006.htm
Wanna buy direct from HKG? get it from rcMart
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...roducts_id=7351
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...roducts_id=7729
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=10861
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=10428
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=16908
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=12497

TAMIYA also have their own drift kit...it base on TT-01 chasis.
pic from rcMart HKG
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info...oducts_id=15075
spec and pic from Tamiya USA
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58349

electronic item you must buy like ESC (more like rellay, to support current, motor power ..etc)about RM200, battery cost about RM1++/per pack (6 cell), charger got lot's of type price from RM200, motor start with 23Turn (stock class - not slow actually) price from RM130, and radio set for start use AM 2 chanel price from RM1++ and up...

You actually can use any type of RC Car to get drifting as long your tyre can make it DRIFTING!!! YeaaaHH! thumbup.gif
YoKoMo drift tires
http://yokomousa.com/tires/drift_tires.htm
Tamiya Drift Tires
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=51219
this kind of tires can fit with all 1/10 scale RC Car EP and GP thumbup.gif or some of racer only got few budjet, so they DIY Drift tires...buy the RC Rims and get PVC pipes that can fit with the rim..this will get your can DRIFT!!! drool.gif

what is ntc3freak the chasis is MR4TC-SD actually is not true..the chasis is not from the Drift Package but it from touring..racer may modified/setting into drift style...maybe he only watch his friend use that kind of chasis on track for drifting.. never see CGM drifting yeahhh? sweat.gif

QUOTE(ntc3freak @ Mar 4 2006, 09:28 PM)

actually drift package tu bukan CGM but CM...not graphite
tapi memang chasis base on CGM... doh.gif mad.gif vmad.gif

I never know, never see and never hear drift package from YoKoMo the chasis is base on MR4TC-SD what I know is drift package is base on CGM chasis. You are right, CGM is for race touring! but in drift also can use mah..
kau tengok kat mana yg menyebut drift package for ep chasis-nya base on MR4TC-SD? nape tak cakap MR4TC-CD je? kannn bagus bangat deh!
one more, kau tau ke MR4TC-SD tu base on what? kan kete tuh belt transmission..dunno la kalu ada kawan2 ko mod MR4TC-SD jadi drift..usually kiteorang gune shaft..smooth kalu lenjan kanan-kiri-kanan balik thumbup.gif

nvm la aku maleh nak gaduh...hang bidang Team AE...so far don't have drift in your product..only TAMIYA, YoKoMo, HPI have drift kit... thumbup.gif

depends on ur final ratio...taller gearing(heavier) = less runtime
10-15min is good enuff i think...after all, u only run 4 5min in race... sweat.gif

tau sket2 je
runtime depends on few things:
1) batt capacity - higher = more runtime
2) charging current(amperage) - higher = less runtime...2 high will kill the batt, while 2 low the batt will perform poorly...main pon x syiok doh.gif
3) motor's turn - higher = more runtime i.e. stock motor will get higher runtime than mod motor
4) final ratio - taller/heavier = less runtime...taller gearing means more force is needed 2 increase the rpm
5) i dunno wor sweat.gif any1 can tambah?

p/s:SMT...camne nak buang tande warn tu aaa? sweat.gif icon_question.gif rclxub.gif

hope there are somebody bump into this toys

Hi..

U can find it at TOYCITY, ranging from RM169.90 to RM199.90

However, the blade for that version is not stable enough and it will hook-off whwn flying (for that dragonfly)

I have the RM199.90 version, but the blade have ripped off (need to fix it with 3 tonne glue, adhesive into the shaft that holds the blade)

You can view mine at http://speedrider.mblogs.com.my

However, mine is for UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT only (made in China)
The model was imitated from original version (that costs RM1000+) that have the full function (UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT-STOP-FORWARD-REVERSE) that have been made in Japan.

QUOTE(unstoppable @ Mar 2 2006, 11:14 PM)
hi, i have problem with my heli, the setting for heli prevent from spining has broke, is that really important for a r/c heli or i can just leave it & continue playing?

this is my problem, see the picture, below the ON words have a white switch, the switch has spoil already, and my heli were spining while operating, what should i do?
*
Spinning when FLYING or on the ground?

1. IF SPINNING WHILE ON THE GROUND, cant fly:

Its mean that your main blade was loose. That makes the rear blade spinning faster than your main blade. Your blade WAS ROSAK.
Why?
I saw your pics, that is the imitated one just like my heli, with different brand. One way to fix it, just CABUT the main blade and carefully put SUPER GLUE/3 or 2 tonne glue at the SHAFT TEETH and carefully insert the main blade into the shaft back.

2. POTENTIOMETER

This was to prevent your chopper from spinning wildly. Theoritacally,

---------------------------->>>> main blade clockwise
<<<<---------------------------- rear blade anti-clockwise

Why? Its because, the inersia from the MAIN BLADE will make the chopper body move with the blade to the same direction.
So, the rear blade plays the important role, to stop the chopper body spin with the main blade. So, lets say the body and main blade move to the right, so the rear blade will push the body to the left (so, 50-50 condition, straight)

If you steer right, the rear blade will get slower (so, the body will move to the right a little more), if you steer left, the rear blade will spin faster (and you know urself what will happen lah...)

The potentiometer act SAME as the thing that have at almost all RC cars have, it adjust the balancing for left-right for the RC involved.

3. SPARE PARTS

gp3300?i tot it'll b ib3800...n it's a MUST icon_rolleyes.gif

use heavier ratio thumbup.gif providing u can handle the speed cool.gif
oso, use more camber...cos in straight line, tires hv less contact patch with the track = less rolling resistance = faster thumbup.gif

well...then 4 sure la on-road GP
well...u yet 2 asnwer my q...what is ur MAIN intention?
saje main2 or mau serious racing?
if main2, any on-road nitro kit will 'kinda' satisfy u...cheaper oso
but if racing kit...most kit only come w/ chassis alone...means engine n so on, lain crita...this is 2 allows driver 2 choose his equipment according 2 his taste/style/purpose

tt track...izzit close 2 ur place?if yes, grab the opportunity, get a good car, n practice hard...who say u should only buy good car when u wan 2 enter race icon_rolleyes.gif

4 suggestion in choosing the best kit 4 u...i think wan(ntc3freak) can help u out...he plays gp...so got xperience...i only play ep sweat.gif

not really buy part by part...say, u buy the car, only got the chassis...rangka only...so u'll need 2 buy other stuffs such s engine n so on...this is 2 enable u 2 adapt ur car 4 ur needs...say, u wanna drift n racing...u can just change the tire n engine...no need 2 buy 2 cars instead...save money thumbup.gif

Which trex forum? depending on your budget. my advice is start with trex. although a bit expensive for newbie. There are lots of trex sifu in klang valley. you can fly together with those sifu.

Can you provide some link to HK or Taiwan for T-rex 450 heli.? Atleast, I know it will be a reliable supplier. I am interested in getting one.

Btw, heli combo kits are custom taxable or not? If yes , pls. PM on trick/tips to avoid the tax?

If you want from HongKong, RC-expert.com is very popular ship to malaysia. http://rc-expert.com/product.php?pid=162
But a warning, DO NOT buy any of their cheap electronics or it will end up costing you alot more in the end..and i would avoid there RTF packages, always assemble the heli yourself.

My personal favourite shop would be shop.rotor.com.sg in singapore and always buy my parts from them

Or another good and well priced dealer is Alan who runs www.private-aircraft.biz here in Malaysia

yeah... are there any particular comparison between walkera #36 and now they have #37 with T-rex 450X? I heard #36 quite responsive.

I think if you search most threads related to Walkera products, you will find that they are cheap and nasty and alot of people end up swapping out almost the entire heli for higher quality parts, only then it might be considered up to trex standard.. i would not recommend any of their packages especially for a begginer it could be alot of trouble, unless you understand that your only going to get what you pay for!
As for the transmitter, I would buy the best you can afford right from the beginning. You cant go wrong with any computer channel with six channels or more, most are very versatile and you can use it to fly whaterver Helis or planes you might buy in the future. You should stick to the popular manufacturers - Futuba, Hitec, Jr or Sanwa.

Thks. for the good info.

Looks like T-rex 450 should be the way to go. Another thing, is the carbon fiber frame
neccessary as compare to the normal HDE or CDE- main frame? Will I be disappointed with CDE- main frame bcos the T-Rex450 SE is very expensive -off course you get what
you pay for . Which is easier to learn to fly, stable for hovering, etc.?

Well i started with the stock plastic frame..lasted me alot of crashes! so no complaints. But obviously it's not going to be as strong as a carbon fibre frame, but in terms of flight performance, as a beginner you would never tell the difference!
Buying a brand new 450SE migth be slightly over the top for a first heli, and wasted money because again you will not tell the difference from a standad 450x until you start to get into high power 3D flying. When you crash (you WILL crash) you can choose to replace parts with CNC metal or carbon fibre upgrades if you want, and that way as you learn and your flying gets better, so does your heli to match it thumbup.gif
If you crash alot, you could end up with a full metal/carbon trex SE anyway rclxm9.gif

About the sim, reflex xtr is about the best you will find for helicopters. You can get it with a dummy transmitter for your computer, but very expensive and hard to find.. Or you can buy your real transmitter and if it's not a cheap one you will be able to use it for variouse flights sims: reflex, FMS, real flight G2/G3, Aerofly to name a few once you get a connector to your computer
Im using one of these:

http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2006-06DStd3197603.htm

but then the description seems to indicate that the chopper cant go up or down. can anyone verify this?

tell me of any in KL as well, coz im going back there soon. smile.gif thanks a lot

anyone with this chopper? i was playing with much fun when suddenly the motor which spins the lower rotors died. it never recovered. i toreopen the shell, took out the motor and tried to find out whats wrong.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e133/Nig...pocrapocrap.jpg

doesnt look like a wiring problem. i used a spare battery and tested the motor by connecting wires to the ... um.. things.. and the motor still remains dead. i tried this method with the other motor (for the top rotors) and its fine.

how can i fix this?

why did it up and die?

yup.i have lots of those when i was little, that was kids' stuff.now move on to bigger better stuffs.Or maybe u can follow sonic's footsteps by getting the Skyline Z-tune for about 800 i think.Add another 200-300 to buy charger n batteries, then ure set

GP cars expensive to run and u need experience la..
better u start off with EP
get at least RM1k
good enough to get a nice TT01....
i'm getting one soon....

and they skyline ztune, its the Prebuit model.. no fun la...
assemble own self only shiok... hahahaha
but between the standard and the ztune wiht LED kits, i rather get the standard which is RM200 cheaper, and use the money to get better controller and upgrades

Should have. But i reccomend to get the Sanwa MX-3.Why???For a simple comparison, try listening to AM radio then listen to FM radio.AM radios have interference.Same goes to the blazer.Once,my car smacked into a pole(using stock AM radio). The repair cost as much as a new MX-3.But now i don't have to worry about that.I have the best radio out there:Ko Propo Helios flex.gif

if u can afford it,buy the TA05.It's a 600 ringgit car that can compete with 1.5k car in the right hands nod.gif but i reccomend only to get the TA05 if u wanna enter races. If u just wanna play the car around, the TT-01 can handle that.So it's up to u.Racing,TA05,Bashing,TT-01.

Almost everyone here uses the pistol type lol. It's really easier than the stick type. When i was younger, those NIKKO cars was using the stick type.I thought that was easy, but when i bought my 'real' RC car,the pistol type is miles better and easier.Give it one or two outing at the track, and u'll get used to it in no time

heli's...usually their body kits(head cap) comes in white plastic with stickers.

planes, if kit, it comes with plastic paper to iron on & stickers. if ARF then all ready already.

First of all, welcome aboard!! QD is basically a Quick Drive, which is assembled from the factory and have very little to no upgradeability.

The price difference between EP and GP is very subjective. If u were to run both competitively, they would cost about the same.

My reccomendation is,get either Tamiya TT-01 or Tamiya TA05,which cost about Rm400 and RM 700 respectively. The TA05 is more race capable, and that might be the factor which decide which car u're going for. Both of them are very durable, rarely break down, and easily upgradeable. If u live near One Utama, then u're in luck.At the basement of the car park(new wing),there's an indoor track and also a shop where u can buy parts and stuffs. So,good luck in deciding and welcome aboard biggrin.gif

LOL i've been interested in airbrushing since 13 with my best friend. Finally our dreams will come true.

About the TA05,i'm afraid u got it the opposite way.The TA05 is already excellent out of the box, while the TT01 is the one that needs upgrading to make it a top performer.TA05 stock in the right hands can compete with the TRF415 and the TB EVO 5.

No battery???LOL Underground don't have the IB3800 Stick Packs mar???Btw,what car do u own???TT01??

Both are EP.And no,it's not ready to run,but you won't find a cheaper car unless it's second hand.Oh i see,so u're planning to play at SS19.Whether Tamiya is the best brand is debatable, but one advantage of Tamiya cars is that u can play at Underground(indoor track) and also compete in the Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Series with a chance to represent Malaysia in the Tamiya Asia Cup.How cool is that??And yes, they can drift with the proper tires and stuff.

What is included??The car sweat.gif tongue.gif U'll need Radio with servo,electronic speed control,2 battery packs at least,Charger,motor.

it's hard to compare,EP can compete with GP if it's using brushless motor and the Gp is using normal engine. On the straight, the GP is undoubtedly faster, but on the corners, the EP have a slight edge

anyone here plays RC helicopters?

especially those playing the battery operated 3channels and above ones, can point me to where to buy some affordable helis at a price range of RM400-600?

last time i remembered at 1Utama there was a RC heli being flown during a tamiya RC contest and that heli costs RM499... anybody bought it? if yes, is it good?

I'm a heli flyer smile.gif my 6 channel EP heli cost about RM5k... if u are a beginner, u can try esky lama V3 about RM400-500(available at namlee or buy online), those are very easy to fly. unlike the heli i own, u need someone to guide..very very hard...

it's awesome toy to play with but damn hard to control, the battery need to charge for around 1 1/2 hours n can play for only 5-7 minutes unless u change the stock battery to higher mah lipo battery..but tell u 1 thing,r/c heli ITSELF is cheap, cost around RM500 above for 6 channel version but the replacement accessories is expensive..u need to spare some money if u crash ur r/c heli..im beginner,i crashed mine twice in 3 days n the replacement already eaten me nearly 200 bucks!the picture below is wat im having rite now~~

hey...TA04 is still a good car tho TA05 is the newer sibling. Don't know much about drifting but i reckon you'd need stiffer suspension to "loose" traction. Don't know what you have under the hood but for a start, TRF dampers would be a great addition if you don't have one yet.

Depends on the percentage of nitro in it.

Green Morgan with 15% nitro costs RM60.00 per US gallon(3.78 litres), if you buy it in a box which has 4 gallons.

Red Morgan with 25% nitro costs more. 100+. Not really necessary unless you're going for competition.

5% nitro will be the cheapest.

My OS .46AX 2-stroke engine consumes about 300ml/cc of 15% nitro every 10 minutes, at 3/4 to full throttle.

My OS .70FX Surpass II consumes less fuel than the .46. About 150cc for 10 minutes. That's because it's a 4-cycle engine. And since it got so much torque, it's not run at full throttle all the time.

If the engine is big enough, say 1.50ci and above, it will run fine and provides sufficient power with methanol alone. No nitro needed. Just mix methanol and castor oil and you're ready to run the engine.

That will be the E-Sky Lama V3. Similar to the yellow one posted in page 19.

It has co-axial rotors. Each spins in opposite direction to the other. So the craft can hover well. You can get one for about 350-400/-. It comes with everything. ready-to-fly, which include heli, transmittor, Li-Po battery and its charger. The only down side is the transmittor batteries are not rechargeable. So either you have to change the 8 AA size batteries when they are low on power or invest in rechargeable Ni-MH cells.

Lama will fly well in the house hall. It'll fly well in the open as long as there's no wind. A slight gust will push it off course. Good for beginners to learn to hover, and let the fingers acquianted with the controls.

Alternatively, that is if you got a transmittor already, is to buy a simulator software, like Real G3. Install it to your PC, plug in the transmittor and you're ready to fly. However, the PC needs to have a fast video card.

The cheapest heli I had heard of is RM 65.00, in a supermarket.

It's smaller than the palm and the fuselage is made of foam. It has co-axial rotors and a 2-channel transmitter. It's cute. Good to keep gals amused.

Lama would be the best to start with.

One advantage of it is, all the parts are serviceable, ie, replacements are available for every component of the heli. Unlike the cheaper ones, which are not repairable. Once crash, have to write off.

it's awesome toy to play with but damn hard to control, the battery need to charge for around 1 1/2 hours n can play for only 5-7 minutes unless u change the stock battery to higher mah lipo battery..but tell u 1 thing,r/c heli ITSELF is cheap, cost around RM500 above for 6 channel version but the replacement accessories is expensive..u need to spare some money if u crash ur r/c heli..im beginner,i crashed mine twice in 3 days n the replacement already eaten me nearly 200 bucks!the picture below is wat im having rite now~~

This r/c thing, everything is expensive, some ppl think it's only a toy but when comes to the price they know it's very expensive. Some more we need to keep a lot of spares part especially beginner. Beginner need to be trained by an experience trainner, if no trainner to guide you than you will be in trouble.

The first thing beginner must learn is to hover the helicopter properly first, than only they start to do some other thing. No shortcut in this trainning.

Guys I am thinking of getting a R/C helicopter just to well play with it during my boring hours. After a lil(n00b) reading I guess I should go for a 6ch. I stop by this shop in ss15 and they have this Honey Bee King II selling to me for RM499. Just wanna ask if it's worth the money, or do you have any better recommendation for a 6ch heli within the Rm500 price range.

edit : saw this in bulk session
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=11657189

price roughly same as honey bee king 2. Can you guys give ur opinion about this 2 heli

thx

drifting not my cup of tea tongue.gif and so are those straight line tamiya's hahaha.. tak cukup shiok if u ask me biggrin.gif

was looking at Tamiya TT-01 models. apparently is one of the lower end Tamiya models? but is it specifically for drifters? im more into speed and control over drifting (tire replacements are deadly if im not mistaken? haha..) anyone can give their personal comments on this model? also, wat areits price ranges? couldnt fine a local price range. and havent been able to drop by Tamiya Underground in 1Utama to check it out.

Hi! Guys new here, been in Rctech for a while. Just to join the crowd. Been a basher all my life so have more than 30 rc to date. Only high end mainly offroad. My favourite is still this as attached the predator X10, although a newer version is out. Been into nitro but lately brushless is the only way to go. At 3 cells they're untouchable. Note, the last picture is my MB4 with turbine motor. Use to drift full scale with a cefiro before changing to Elise. Not very good at it. Nearly went down a overhead bridge before deciding to quit.

hlo..welcome to rc...hehe...

actually is depend on preferences loo..

since u like Nitro...then we continie nitro la..hehehe.......for nitro car...china brand arund RM8++ (ready to run).....and the more pro and better car kits around RM1,500 above - RM2k also hv......actually a EP car also cost that some time....

as for the maintainece....yeah..for sure the maintainece is more higher compare to Electric car.....but the performance and outcome...really FUN..hehehe...especially the sound ....yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

so lastly is depend on your budget..hehe...budget can tell u the answer...jejeje thumbup.gif
