XDA site down.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380284 This rom is getting better and bewtter with each upgrade. This version he has switch to Abyss v2.1 kernel instead of FM 1.4. This is also my preferred kernel. Just took me 5 mins to get it installed without wiping phone Best most obvious improvement - press power button : extended menu [attachmentid=2593747] I'm downloading it base on the link provided here... |

1) What are these "Wipe data/Factory reset, Wipe Cache partition and test redbend fota" actually for? In order to root we have to use three button key to get into that page. But I have no idea with these and have to understand what they are for.
2) Custom rom mostly modded the built-in applications, right? Then custom kernel normally modded what? What is the benefit we flash the kernel? Confusing with these since flashing symbian is much more easier to do and understand... 3) Does Malaysia's Note Support LTE 4G? 4) Root using Zergrush then what about CWM, is it necessary for rooting too? 5) Anyone has Malaysia's Note stock kernel link? |

Hey,
Since flashing KL3 deodexed few days ago, alot of apps can't be downloaded from market, no idea why. even google maps etc. I tried running papago X5 and it tells me it doesn't support 640x960. I've already set the 800x1280 at the folders and it worked before. Question is why is x5 and market taking the phone as 640x960 and not the full resolution? Just tried flashing rocket v9, same issue. I changed the folders names to 640x960 it starts but the program button don't respond. Anyone? DPI is still stock 320. EDIT: I think I figured out why, had to untick compatibility mode in spareparts probably. rebooting to see if it worked. I guess TB did not restore spareparts setting for me. QUOTE(monkey5525 @ Dec 19 2011, 07:21 PM) 1) What are these "Wipe data/Factory reset, Wipe Cache partition and test redbend fota" actually for? In order to root we have to use three button key to get into that page. But I have no idea with these and have to understand what they are for. 1. Wipe data/factory reset - will hard reset your phone wiping clean all your 3rd party apps/data/settings - bringing phone back to original state. Wiping cache partition and dalvik cache is a good practice to erase all existing caches to prepare phone memory clean to flash a new rom. You don't have to do it but highly encouraged to prevent looping and phone cannot reboot successfully after a rom/or kernel flash. Just GOOGLE yourself such terms to understand better2) Custom rom mostly modded the built-in applications, right? Then custom kernel normally modded what? What is the benefit we flash the kernel? Confusing with these since flashing symbian is much more easier to do and understand... 3) Does Malaysia's Note Support LTE 4G? 4) Root using Zergrush then what about CWM, is it necessary for rooting too? 5) Anyone has Malaysia's Note stock kernel link? 2. Custom rom DOES NOT mod the builtin apps . It will add additional utility apps or delete stock bloatware. Additional utility/procedures are often added in cook rom to improve how the apps are loaded, interact with the firmware. Kernel is modded to enhance its efficiency interacting between hardware and apps. Read the specs details of each cook rom or kernel to see the major changes made. Any terms there you dont understand just google for explanation 3. M'sia has no support yet for LTE 4G and unlikely at least for the next few years 4. CWM is recovery mode - it basically replaces the stock recovery , adding additional features such as 100% backup and 100% restore, flashing zip files ( firmware, modem or kernel). Google clockworkmod recovery - plenty in the web explaining it. It is not necessary if you do not wish to use it for flashing firmware, modem or kernel. If you flash Chainfire kernel you will have root and CWM installed same time. Zergrush exploit only root the phone. However if you read further the XDA link on Zergrush he also point out steps to root+CWM using Chainfire method. Refer page 1 - TS has listed the links for these or search for my earlier postings in v4 5. You can get the stock kernel link at forum XDA : search for it Added on December 19, 2011, 7:59 pm QUOTE(firestonez @ Dec 19 2011, 07:44 PM) Download it from the rocket rom thread - it is posted there; I replace the cooked themed with it tooThis post has been edited by benny888: Dec 19 2011, 07:59 PM |

You change the folder names to 800X1280 in the Organic folder and all its subfolders under NaviSea Papago is not meant for the bigger display so it is showing its original requirement there is nothing wrong with Rocket v9 - it works perfectly. I just tested it again after reading your posts Anyway I prefer Sygic Aura anytime over Papago X5. Thanks I always recommend users to dump default email and use the free app K9-Mail instead. It has so much more features versus stock emailYou can : - setup several email accounts and have mail all downloaded together in one screen or separately according to account - you can set various font sizes for practically every entry in your email - headers , subject, message body - you can set how often you want each email account to be check and downloaded - you can set whether after download email be remain or deleted on server - you can set whether emails on phone be deleted if emails are deleted from server - you can have selective choosing of which emails to be deleted - plus many many more features This post has been edited by benny888: Dec 19 2011, 08:10 PM |

QUOTE(What Is This I Don't Even @ Dec 19 2011, 08:03 PM) after reading unker benny's comments, im really tempted to root my note It is very and extremely unbelievable easy . I recommend you to flash Chainfire - you will get root and CWM installed same time. Whole process just take 5 mins. Make sure you download the right file matching your kernel . Than just connect phone to PC and run the "not-root.bat" filebut im still hesitating bcos im new to android Before that have KIES installed on PC so that the phone USB drivers are installed on PC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 |
