Wondering Virtual Box can work on this or not

QUOTE(MyKopiNinja @ Dec 17 2011, 07:07 PM)
The installation corrupts the bootloader. That's why you can't boot.
How i go about restoring bricked NS:

What you need:

1. UnBrickableResurrectorR37.jar
2. A bootloader image from 2.3.6 zip. Open the zip and extract the bootloader.img
3. A ubuntu system with java jre installed.

Steps.
1. I have a ubuntu VM installed with java (SUN). So no problem there.

2. Right click on the UnBrickableResurrectorR37.jar and run with java ( Sun Java)

3. Connect your phone.

4. Hold the power button and volume up button.

5. Make sure UnBrickableResurrectorR37.jar detects your device, click the resurrect button.

6. Wait until it shows : fastboot mode : fastboot

____________________________________________________________________

7. Disconnect from ubuntu.

8. Connect to Windows 7. Now we reflashed the corrupt boot loader run this in the command
" fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img " (Assuming you have all the necessary driver installed and know how to use fastboot)

9. Disconnect. Press power button..walla...
I think those were the steps I took. I could missed up some steps but I believe you'll work it out tongue.gif

From my understanding, AMOLED black is really black because no light projected to produce the pixels & it save battery at the same time so you'll c many AMOLED user prefer black image for background. S-LCD screen will have purplish at the corners when displaying black image.. but normal usage won't be so much noticeable..

QUOTE(barca96 @ Dec 17 2011, 05:02 PM)
Thanks for your explanation but I already knew that.
My original question was if there was a big difference in SLCD and SAmoled screen.
Is is visible to the naked eye?
Is there a difference when we're reading cause I only intent to read news, emails, blogs and forums like lowyat and not play games. So in my case, I was wondering whether there would be any difference.

Thanks!

This time I want to try official ICS rom first LOL

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Dec 17 2011, 08:41 PM)
same here. thats why i'm on oxygen 2.3.2 for now. stock rom are just not my type so i never try them on all of my 3 droid phones. i always wait for custom ones cuz you need wipe all, flash and enjoy. haha~~ biggrin.gif

its either oxygen 3.0 or devnull from adamG first cuz he's always fast. took 1 day at max if see the pattern when i was on Desire. not sure now, maybe he's busy.

ya because official ICS for 9023 is not out yet, can try the 9020 ICS rom but risky, anyway I think the upgrade process should be the same except some of us might need to flash back to 2.3.6 first, so will just wait while envy the 9020 owners..

QUOTE(kongkkm @ Dec 17 2011, 10:32 PM)
From what I read, for official upgrade to ICS, the steps won't be that simple right?

For now, we just download the ROM, boot into recovery, wipe, flash and DONE.

For ICS, the bootloader and radio needed to flash again, flash back to stock 2.3.6, install superuser, bla bla bla...

for i9023 S-LCD Maxis set

I backup & erase everything including sd & go back to 2.3.6 official unroot, clean & empty rclxm9.gif

ics update appear on the first boot so I proceed to download & update

no problem at all is just that struggle a bit on the bootloader usb driver while trying to detect device

su-install.zip is successful, titanium restore were ok so the whole process went smooth like butter

rooted & recovery is sticking

LOL for the safe side just go back to 2.3.6 & wait for OTA

I think you need to refer to V2 Nexus S thread for the garage sales prices, they have been talking a lot about that
