From my previous experience with certain big IPOs, certain remisiers with good contacts either source for the shares from someone who has already been allocated and are willing to sell their allocation for minimum 10% premium in off-market trades. There are other ways, like creating a company.
That's what I was told. But personally I stay clear of these deals because (1) it's complicated. Legal agreement needs to be signed and if you are not a lawyer, you'll likely be clueless on the T&Cs (2) a lot depends on the good faith of "the other party", who is likely to be rich and connected. (3) You need to pay a premium. And did I mention that minimum sum required is RM250k or RM500k? Personally I prefer to go for private placement because everything goes through the investment bank and there's won't be any potential "surprises". The downside is you'll very likely be allocated considerably less shares than what you applied for. |

Felda Global IPO to be listed on 10th May 2012. Let's remind each other when the date draws nearer.
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIM...icle/index_html A source with direct knowledge of the deal told Reuters the IPO would raise as much as US$2 billion and would take place in early May. Felda Global, the business arm of the nation’s federal land authority (FELDA), is an agri-business company focused on palm oil, rubber and sugar cane processing and cultivation. The proposed IPO has courted some political controversy because the land authority is also responsible for the welfare of FELDA settlers, ethnic Malays who receive aid in the form of land from the government. -- Reuters |

QUOTE(pchan84 @ Feb 20 2012, 08:24 PM) Exactly, i do know someone who has been allocated and if anyone are interested, the rest of the procedures will be done by me. This whole procedure is just as safe as going through bookbuilding as there will be legal documents. The min amount is actually much larger. Going through private placement or bookbuilding through any stockbroking or investment bank, you will definitely get much smaller allocation based on my experiences, and the minimum amount for bookbuilding is usually RM250k pm me, thanks Added on February 20, 2012, 8:25 pm Definitely for real, you do not pay me the money. Pm me if you wan more details. |
