I was just wondering is the all instructor would always scolding and scolding all the time? I have just started my driving lesson which took about 3hours per class. The instructor was actually started to scold & yelling at me when after 10minutes of the driving lesson. He extremely fierce & impatient in teaching me. I have trouble in concentrating when he was scolding me at the same time. He would just push my hand away from the steering when i was outer line & would scolded me like there are no tomorrow.

Guys i was just wondering its this normal?? are all instructor behaving like that too?? Maybe you guys can share your experience. I have few classes to finish & i already have phobia in learning driving whenever i think of facing him.

Well, there's 1 class where you listen 3 hours theory and 3 hours practical. The 3 hours practical which 1 instructor would pick 1 student from the group and teach them to drive. The one who picked me was exactly like how you said. She scolds, shout and basically changing the gears for you instead of allowing you to do it yourself. that was my 1st time driving. After that 3 hours of practical teaching , I gotten my L License. After that, it was another instructor teaching, He was nice and very patience to me. Therefore, I did learned much from him instead of the lady who was my instructor for the 3 hours practical thing. She practically does everything for you Eg: Hold your steering , change the gear instead of allowing you to do it yourself lol.

Anyways, it all depends on your luck lol. Not all instructors are like that smile.gif

My instructor was a nice man. But he also got fed up and yelled at the girl who learned together with me when she failed the test for 3rd time.

its better for the instructor to yell and scold you rather than have other drivers to do the same.

please learn to park properly and to use your signal lights before changing lanes and turning. park like shit and rest assured your car will be 50 cented biggrin.gif

TS if you dont have car at home, you can be like me, i borrowed friend's kancil and drove for about 2 months before i got my L. I dont mean to teach you bad but i did it this way so that i dont waste my learning process on the instructor. I waste it on my friend instead. tongue.gif

I got prob with my instructor too before. My 1st instructor too sempoi/lazy and doesn't care whether i pass my test or not. They just think how to cut their cost and suck my money. And the result is, i failed badly.

My second instructor is quiet good. Even he a bit tegas, but base on his track record, i know he did it to make sure, i'm pass my test and yeah, i did it.

Advice : If you can't get rid with your current instructor, next time try getting instructor that have good track record. It always good if someone can recommend you one. And for current one, if he advice you to top up time (while you don't think you gonna learn much from him), better just dumb his offer.

scold him back, tell him that you pay to learn how to drive a vehicle not to listen to his scolding and yelling... just scold him back that's what I does when I think he is acting like he is my boss, and I feel better after I shiit on his face, he kept quite lol.

I have 2 different instructor, 1st one is a 75 year old man, he keep on telling me his story, like when he is young he is a racer and win severals championship, like to show off...

The 2nd one is the worst, he gave me some unnecessary pressure while driving, he keep on telling me that girl drives better than I do, I fuking pissed off that time and I tell him to shut the hell up.

This is what I told him to: SHUT THE FUK UP YOU OLD FARK, WHO IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! I PAY YOU TO TEACH ME HOW TO DRIVE, DON'T TALK TRASH TO ME, IF NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR JOB JUST GO HOME AND FUK YOUR SELF, I'M THE GUY WHO PAY THE MONEY, SO I'M THE BOSS YOU ARE THE WORKER SO DO YOUR JOB.  mad.gif

I'm getting worked up that time and I fuk him and he keep quite lolz

Wow.. u're the good one. Wish i have the brave to scold my instructor. I still remember how he scolded me when my driving lesson that time. Fuhh.. The few hours felt like thousand years 2 me. At last i change my instructor also.. cos cant really learn much with him scolding & yelling at me.

I think TS was afraid her current instructor will have hard feeling if she reli change him.

My instructor was a quiet and patient old man. Sometimes on the highway with him wearing his sunglasses, i wonder is he sleeping or not LOL laugh.gif And even if i'm speeding at 80km/h, he just say 'don't go too fast yeah...', then i'll slow down to 70 for awhile and go back to 80 again laugh.gif

And my tip, record him(voice) when you're practising with him. Bring the recording to the driving school. PLUS tell your parents too. He'll be screwed real bad.
*
Huh? Speeding at 80? lol. Mine asked me to go faster at 140... a cousin did 180. Different country I guess.

Mh... I guess there are bad driving instructors everywhere, the type who are in a bad mood and need to vent their anger. I had a rather bad one too (I was basically his taxi driver, driving him around to do groceries!), and I didn't learn a lot from him. Luckily I could change to one of his teachers (he was the boss), and that guy was fun, interesting, and I could learn a lot from him. smile.gif He also asked me why I did everything wrong in the first lesson. laugh.gif

I also think every student needs to find the right instructor, not everyone is compatible. Some might need the pressure, and really I think it helps if you can drive good even under stressful situations. What if some driver tries to push you off the road because you are blocking his way? How will you deal with it?

Btw. for the first lesson the teacher did the clutch for me (I think brakes too...), and sometimes helped with the steering wheel, next lesson I had to do all myself, but he would occasionally assist. Later it was mostly learning how to cope with stress situations, difficult situations, learning how to pay attention to all the signs and to stick to the rules, high speed driving (not that easy at first... turning around the head while not leaving the lane), driving at night, ... very expensive, but I think in the end it helped me become an ok driver.

(Wasn't it in Finland where they basically have to learn how to drift etc., according to Top Gear?)

I'm talking about when taking the road driving lessons. The car they use here is a Kancil if you don't know and the 'speed limit' for L cars are usually at 60. Rarely do instructors let you go above 60. Going 140 on that kancil is suicidal and i doubt it can even reach that speed LOL laugh.gif

Wow TS I really pity you to get such an instructor. Had it been me I would have opt for an exchange immediately.

Meanwhile, my experience? I don't know to call it good or not. My instructor taught me to drive on the first day. 2nd day he was already taking a nap while I was still fidgeting with the clutch. Thankfully it was just a small housing area. So eventually I got the hold of it.

Oh, ok. Kancil I wouldn't go 140. Does everyone have to learn on a Kancil? Mh... speed limit 60... that's a bit slow, how are you going to learn driving on the highway then? How to handle a car at higher speeds and how to behave on the highway when overtaking? hmm.gif

Because kancil engine stalls easily, fuel saving and manage to do 60km/h which is more than enough. Overtaking at plan highway is nothing. Try overtaking at Borneo road. laugh.gif

what country you living in bro? sweat.gif

Highway speed 60km/h usual 'limit' for drivers taking their lessons. On the highway you're usually on the left lane and overtaking is out of the question during lessons. Only sometimes when some idiot decides to stay on the left lane on the highway at 30~40km/h doh.gif

Speed limit here is 110 km/h so can't see how can they allow you to go above that speed lol.

Kancil still exist? I thought they use Viva for newbie to drive.

Last 8 years ago, i was using Kancil, i some more teach the instructor how to drive.

Last i cut short learning time and finished all test in 2 weeks. I just learn how to do all those 3 point turn, side parking, bukit and for the real road test i just told the instructor just show me the road that's all.

Driving experience 11 years already. Hard times when i had to drive when i was in sec school, to help family with shopping.

Just change instructors if got problem. I took at Berjaya. Even the instructor was too lazy to give me guidance and let me do all the thing by myself, he just sounded me for turn the steering by gripping inside of the steering. No no no he said, pusing steering dengan pegang kat luar bukan dalam, itu orang sudah expert boleh buat atau lepas dpt lesen.

Sorry for going so off topic. I'm currently living in Malaysia, but learned driving in Germany. The instructor needs to have pedals, and learning how to drive fast on the highway is compulsory, especially how to behave, precautions to take before changing lane, constantly observing the rear view mirror, ... without I think there'd be many deaths on German roads due to the lack of a speed limit on perhaps 50% of the road (only counting highways). I have noticed a certain, uh, lack of discipline on Malaysian roads that I still need to get used to. That makes driving quite nerve wrecking at times, despite relatively low speeds.

Overtaking on the highway ain't too easy... if you carelessly overtake you might end up swiping away a biker or hitting another car/making that car brake very hard -> provoke accident.

I've once seen on TV how the Chinese learn how to drive... on a small, empty learning road. They had all the signs etc., but no traffic. Once they have the license they then can drive in Shanghai, which I wouldn't dare to despite having driven for 8 years now. I can't even imagine the stress these poor guys have. (On the other hand it was quite weird to drive in Finland... suddently a moose would run across the road or it follows you...).

Didnt learn much things from him tho with all the scolding & yelling & i kinda stressed, afraid of him. It's like he gonna take my head & bang to the steering or something. Scaring.. 1 more question guys, i have the right to request for change right? Will it offend my current instructor if he know? Sorry silly question blush.gif

Of course you have the right to change. The only catch is you might need to pay extra though, depending on your driving school.

Of course you can change driving schools too on the extreme side, but you'll all the monies you paid...

How many classes have you taken with him so far?
