The US Navy in seriously need plane.
as their hornet fleet have reach their airframe limit. also they are not going to order more f-18 in favor of the f-35.
our hornet are in good condition. not as stress as their fighter.

Russian are most likely hope to get some small sales since we are not going to buy any Russian fighter in these MRCA.
offering trade in might get them some business. just my opinion though.

Dassault Rafale wins USD 10.4 billion Indian Air Force jet fighter deal: Sources

New Delhi:  The Dassault Rafale fighter jet, manufactured by the French company Dassault Aviation, has won India's mammoth contract worth $10.4 billion, say sources. The Indian Air Force  plans to buy 126 aircraft over the next ten years.

The process to determine the L1 (lowest bidder) has been completed, and sources indicate that the final contract is expected to be signed in  the next financial year. The first 18 aircraft will be bought off the shelf. The rest 118 will be manufactured in partnership with an Indian company.

There were six contenders for the world's biggest defence deal which included the Russian MiG- 35,Lockheed Martin's F-16 Falcon, Boeing's F-18 Hornet, the Swedish Saab Grippen, Euro-Fighter Typhoon and Rafale.

Of these, the European EADS Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale were in the final race for the global tender for a medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA). The Eurofighter bid was backed by four partner nations including Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom while the Dassault Rafale was backed by the French Government.

On November 4 last year, Defence ministry had opened the commercial bid of the two firms left in the race and since then has been busy in determining the lowest bidder. The rest were rejected as they didn't meet the technical qualifications.

Beirut (Lubanan) – Satu majlis bagi memberi penghormatan terakhir kepada allahyarham Leftenan Kolonel Habibullah Hj Ismail telah diadakan di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Rafik Hariri dekat sini pada Rabu (8 Februari 2012) pada jam 11 pagi.

Pada upacara itu, UNIFIL Force Commander, Maj Gen Paolo Serra telah menganugerahkan Pingat PBB UNIFIL manakala, Lubnan yang diwakili oleh The Lebanese Armed Forces Representative of Lebanon Army Commander, Brig Gen Ghassan Oreijy  menganugerahkan Pingat Negara Lubnan. Kedua-dua pingat tersebut telah disematkan pada bendera UN yang menyelimuti keranda.

Jenazah akan diterbangkan ke tanahair menggunakan pesawat komersial Qatar pada jam 8 malam ini dan dijangka tiba di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) pada 9 Februari 2012 jam 8.30 malam. Seterusnya jenazah akan diterbangkan pula ke Alor Setar dengan pesawat C130.

Allahyarham yang bertugas sebagai Pegawai Staf Tentera UNIFIL berpejabat di Naquora telah menghembuskan nafas terakhir pada 6 Februari 2012 kira-kira jam 3.30 petang waktu Lubnan (8.30 malam waktu Malaysia) kerana serangan jantung.

Turut hadir di upacara itu ialah Duta Malaysia ke Lubnan, TYT amb. Ilango Karuppannan, UNIFIL Force Commander, Maj Gen Paolo Serra, The Lebanese Armed Forces Representative of Lebanon Army Commander, Brig Gen Ghassan Oreijy, Ketua Kontinjen Malaysia/ Komander MALBATT 4, Kol Badrul HIsham Muhammad, Timbalan Komander MALCOY 7, Lt Kol Zainal Shukri Mohamed Zain serta pegawai-pegawai kanan tentera UNIFIL yang lain.

I cannot see why our Defense Ministry is wasting previous time and resources for this. They've already spent millions just to determine the spec sheet for the SU-30MKM, why not get more of these capable aircraft since we've already customized them so much ?
Indon has only 16 F-16's ? But brand new or 2nd hand dosen't matter ... S'pore got their F-16 / F-15 used but they managed to upgrade them inhouse. Saving money, face and nobody knows of any "extra tech" except themselves.
