QUOTE(xGalGirlx @ Sep 6 2015, 01:57 PM) Hello! A lot of people wouldn't like this but I've been keeping a female glider, going to her 4th year soon. So far so good, doesn't look the best but she's decent. Just wondering.. 1. Is it okay for me to just have one F sugar glider? Apart from it being lonely and stuffs, will it .. die of loneliness or something? Like hamsters, they need to be at least in a pair or they'll die easily ( that's what happened to my previous hamsters ) No matter how busy you are, you still need to find time at least once a week to trim her nails & prepare her fruits every night. Be disciplined enough for those & it shouldn't drive your glider nuts to the point of self-mutilation. |

QUOTE(jitshiong @ Dec 23 2015, 10:53 PM) Time to break the silence then =)My lil glider is gonna be 3 (or 4 lol) years old by next week, so I'm thinking of getting a new cage for her OOP day. After 3 or 4 years, the current one is pretty rusty already. Don't feel nice putting her inside there even though she roams out of her cage most of the time. So what are the recommended cages these days? I'm still using the 4ft bird cage that was highly recommended back then. |

QUOTE(emino @ Jan 10 2016, 05:21 PM) Sounds like you've already tried to pasang mugiwara on your glider lol. QUOTE(sylve123 @ Jan 11 2016, 02:47 AM) I just got my two sugar gliders a male and a female and i am very excited to have them You need to kno what are the high calcium food for your gliders. Try papaya, it's the easiest to get. I just gave them 2 slices of apple today and was wondering what should i get them to eat from the pet store I read alot of articles and am actually really confused cuz all it says is proteins and calcium and stuff and am very illiterate in that area.. can anyone please recommend a healthy diet for 2 1 year++ old suggiees ? the person i bought from said that he used to give them occassionaly fruit and usually steamed corn and some yogurt... the male seems really scared and defensive when i try to touch it so i thought maybe let it be for a day or two to accumulate to the new surroundings then i will try to interact with them.. Got your HPW already? It'll take a while for those gliders to get used to you & their new surroundings, just don't play with them for a few days. |

QUOTE(sylve123 @ Jan 13 2016, 12:36 AM) thank you so much for your reply If I'm not mistaken, they sleep like nearly 20 hours a day. Will only come out when it's dark, so even at night if your turn on your lights brightly, they'll continue hiding in their pouch. actually this is my first pet ever and am really glad to have them its been now about 2 days i think and they stay in the pouch thinggi all the time they only come out when i turn off the lights and go to sleep I gave them apple slices for the first 2 days and today i forced them out from the pouch tried to catch the female to trim off its nails but couldnt she tried to bite the cloth i was trying to catch her with... she is getting stuck in the pouch again and again.. I got HPW Instant which says add water and serve i also got glider-cal and sprinkeled it on the dry meal worms and fruit flavors and placed them in a bowl at the bottom of the cage they dont seem to like the HPW as they just tasted it and didnt want to "lick" any more of it... i am feeding them blueberry yoghurt also.. i really want to trim their nails though cuz they look so frustrated when they get stuck.. Best time to cut their nails is when they're groggy during the daytime. While they're still in the pouch, slowly pull their arm out to cut the nails. But they're still new & frighten with their new environment, so still need some time before they get comfortable. HPW instant is kinda expensive, better get the one that you need to prepare & keep in the freezer. That's cheaper & last longer too. |

QUOTE(sylve123 @ Jan 13 2016, 06:00 PM) Thanks alot for the info guys If you're regularly giving HPW, mealworms aren't really needed anymore. Mealworms are like junk food to them gliders, they absolutely love it & will pick it over fruits anytime. I gave them fruit flavors which smell really nasty I mixed them in a bowl with meal worms and they seem to just eat the meal worms and left out the fruit flavors i will get them fresh fruit soon HPW instant is good for me as i dont own a blender or a freezer ... looks like yesterday at night they ate some of the HPW and the rest just dried up.. If you wanna feed live stuffs, I was told crickets are better since they're moving & their exoskeleton is good for gliders teeth somehow. But just give once in a while only will do. |

Anyone feed crickets to their gliders? Must we remove the cricket legs first before feeding?

QUOTE(jitshiong @ Jun 13 2018, 11:50 AM) Wahhh.........it's been a while yo!I've been doing that, although not much of a hunt since those crickets are like half drunk, walking into my glider's mouth But recently when I attended a pet expo, I was advised to remove the cricket legs cause its very sharp & could hurt the stomach/intestines during digestion. You've been feeding whole crickets for years to your gliders last time without any issue? |
