i think the best option for u now is try to find and dl the control cd off the net for mixvibes, and of course the mixvibes software itself, and hook it all up with the soundcard and laptop..
i didnt know u can dl the control cd until recently hehe

mixing setup doesn't matter.. u can have them set up on different level side way up side down it doesn't really matter as mixing doesn't require fast movement like scratching/beat juggling need. Even this setup that I have now is a bit high for me. I'm a short guy. but as i said, this is only temporary.

hehe, i got it already tongue.gif

my feelings is that it resembles tracktor in some sense, but i think tracktor is more easier interface than mixvibes, still i'm very comfortable with virtual dj. i am soo used mixing using only touchpad & internal sound card, which was tedious...but hey i manage to get it & win a dj contest with it!

btw when i get home after my shift ends next week i'll try to set it up according to this
http://www.trancefix.nl/showthread.php?t=105880

and his PM regarding my enquiry of the system
QUOTE
hi, i dunno if i ve already answered this mail, so here i am.

if u want to mix with an external mixer u will need to swich your line in to a "rear line out" (used to have a 4.1 speaker system). but if u have a desktop computer and ur soundcard is not able to switch that line in, you can purchase another cheap soundcard (less than 10 dollars) and plug everything to the mixer (1st soundcard to ch 1 and 2nd SC to ch 2).

then ull plug your main out to the speakers of course.. and if ur mixer has a rec out u must plug it to your soundcard's line in (i recommend to not use mic in becouse the sound will clip a lot and the audio quality wont be good). i also recomend to use your first card audio imput, unless you can select which line in should the software use. if the software is basic and simple, it will record automatically from ur 1st soundcard, so check it.

btw u CANT use VDJ's recording function becouse u arent moving any faders on vdj, so there's no mix in vdj, ur mixing externally.

if u have a maya 44usb u will have 2 stereo outputs and 2 stereo inputs. ull use both outputs to send the audio to the mixer and u can use one of the inputs to record audio. but u can also use ur integrated soundcard to record, its all up to you.

but.. if i had maya44, i would use it to mix with timecoded vinyls biggrin.gif

see you
hope it helps

this is pretty similar to the setup i explained a couple of pages back, but if u still wanna use the cdjs then use the tc cds and just the maya44, no need for internal. btw i dont understand why u bought a mixer that's clearly for scratching (pmc07 yeah?), the eqs arent suitable for normal mixing

i know! because it was my 1st mixer & i dont know shit about it until recently sad.gif
btw, it was used anyway....a good deal to start off djing using real hardware is to find something used.

anyway after i get pro..i'll be looking for something better. no worries tongue.gif

btw, i understand that the 800mk2 is suitable for scratching? by looking at some youtube videos to further deepen my believes on that matter.
i dunno if the pmc07 & 800mk2 may do a great companion for battle djs?

battle DJ setup .. CDJ = CDJ1000MK2
battle DJ Setup ..turntable = SL1200

for battle DJ , mixer .. the most important is the cut time on the fader...the faster the better ..
reason why RANE is one of the best in the market is because the mixer crossfader doesn't bleed (ROSAK). this is because the crossfader uses a technology where there is no contact with any circuit board. there are two sensor on both side that detect the distance of the fader from each end.

well i think 800 is better cause u dont have to press down when queing up, 1000 has that little nudge, it throws u off abit..
nowdays most of the top end mixer are with digital boards, meaning its not mechanical anymore, taking away the wear and tear which leads to the 'bleeding' ur talking about.
djm800 is fully digital, sweet ass mixer yeah.. damn u pimpin haha

the thing is the eqs are sliders..hmm... thinking..thinking.. boleh kut.. just need to be careful with the level yeah, the slides are pretty short kan? actually thinking about it, it might be interesting to mix on that, im pretty rough on the eqs, u can do pretty wicked stuff with two three eqs at one go.. hmm menarik.. tell me how it goes haha
go try to play some trance with tribal la, then spin at rainforest music festival haha

that's for pro battle dj using 1000, i'm total noob especially when it comes to real hardware.
it's my 1st time i meet real dj mixer & cdjs in my life! even i've yet to meet my 800 because they arrived at my home when i'm still offshore now.

yeah, i've read somewhere that the PMC07 was pretty high end altho it's looks simple.
the faders are damn smooth, even you can blow on it it actually slides a bit! (nah, just exxagregating biggrin.gif )

i thinks it's feels just the same with knob eq's but on pmc07 there is less knobs, only the side part where we can set the fader curve.

and the sliding eq imo would not get you wrong cos it's not as smooth as the crossfaders...so u can actually control the amount of movement when u want to adjust something....just my noob 2 cents tongue.gif

well i can dreamt about djm800 for now....even to get the simplest pioneer gear will cost you an arm or a leg

btw, westokan...do you scratch? or just playing any other types of music?

nah i dont scratch, would love to incorperate that into my mix, just dont have the timing for it.. what i usually mix is tech house, minimal or sometimes house, but my main passion is techno. its beat driven which i like and most of the top techno djs are into all the innovation that we enjoy now, eg richie hawtin consulted on the design of final scratch (the first dvs) and also ipod, chris liebing for traktor and reason, to name a few..
im not really into trance, did dabble in it when i started going to raves and listening to edm back in the late 2001, it just didnt had an impact on me.. then caught umek and valentino aka recycled loops playing at what is now called espanda (i think it is called that eh?), it opened my eyes to it, then went to kent extract finale at sepang where simon coyle, kevin saunderson and space djz played, i was sold..

when i was in my noob year listening to edm music i always confuse betweeh techno, eurodance, dream(??), and trance.
i like the uplifting style only & lil prog style from 2005. after that it's become more shittier combines with asot & it's popularity. then i look into some harder trance & psy.

btw, umek & valentino are amazing! i have some of their tracks as well...but not that much. smile.gif
